Anyone watch Lucha? Second season kicked off last week and the first episode was fantastic, as expected.

If you're looking for a different approach to wrestling then give it a shot. It's filmed in the style of a TV drama centred around wrestling.

It's Lucha Libre style but it's filmed in English down in LA and features wrestlers from the Mexican AAA promotion and others off the US indie scene. It's tough to explain because it's different than any other wrestling show, sort of like the ham-fisted days of WCW but with very good production value and wrestlers who *really* buy into the whole idea.

Because of the storylines and TV show feel, it's probably worth watching Season 1 first as you'll be completely lost otherwise.

Cornette has always been a curmudgeon, but it's getting boring now. He can't get over the fact that the territory days are over. It's fine to dislike Lucha Underground but to bury it the way he did is just sad. Alternatives in wrestling should be celebrated.

I think Cornette goes a bit OTT but i kinda get where he's coming from. Its a TV show more than a wrestling show. The vignettes are a bit cringy. The cameras are all over the place and it gives the feel that you are watching a movie. I've only seen a few matches and the wrestling itself is good. But they need to knock the intergender matches on the head. Does not work.

If you decide to continue watching you'll appreciate the consistency and quality of the writing and overall storylines. It's low brow, it is wrestling after all. Some people can't get into its style, or even the camera work when shooting matches. That's fine, but it's a fresh concept on the genre and it's gaining a lot of momentum.

I don't mind intergender matches, especially when the programme is presenting itself blatantly as fiction. Perhaps in the promotions where the presentation is supposed to resemble reality, to some extent, but not Lucha.

Glad to see this got a 3rd series, I cannot think of a tougher time in the history of wrestling for new companies to try and get through, you have such a mass of uninterest to the whole product and most TV companies do not even want to bother anymore with it. Add in of course that a lot of the names which could help build a company now seem uninterested to go elsewhere (or forced not to by WWE) andof course that WWe through NXT steal anyone that is half decent to hog off their B shows (In my own view not to create them stars but to kill off any chance companies have).....its impossibly tough.

but with TNA all but finished the industry needs some others.......at moment it is really if you do not like WWE a case of 'suffer it or stop watching wrestling'
