Being as we have the night off the standout fixture looks like Cambridge v Salford. I think Cambridge are legit rather than just a purple patch but a win here ends almost any doubt on that.

Otherwise I think Bradford must win their game. For all the talk around other managers in trouble am surprised McCall has gotten away with it so far. Seemed a lazy appointment at the time and failing to pick up three points here should surely have him facing the sack.

Bolton will not sack Evatt if we lose this Tuesday........Though if he plays both Crellin and Baptiste and we lose i think he will be at the cliff edge.

Shame our game is off, although both clubs now have Covid problems with us losing Rodney and having Fitz and Whitehead isolating so not ideal!

Cambridge v Salford is stand out, Salford have an excellent away record winning all their away games without conceding in 2020... except for their two visits to Vale Park!

Draw would suit us here with the U's just ahead and Salford just behind.

Bolton/Mansfield tie is a biggy. Probably a draw there you'd think and Newport at Carlisle... Newport could really pull away if they win that.

18 year old Matty Alexander or 38

Matty Gilks decent but at 38 and not playing in over 12 months is the obvious choice.
Our only other keeper is Alexander but at 18 he is not ready

goalkeepers don't need to run around for 90 mins - so Gilks even at 38 sounds like the better option

Think teams are missing a trick on this one. When you play it out from the back it would make sense for the keeper to pass and move, do that and the oppo can't press you as easily as they'll always be outnumbered.

No reason why a keeper should stay in their box the whole time.

Hard game away against FGR. Both sides seem to be in a much better rythem than when we first met in the cup way back in August.

Not suprised we finally beat someone 4-0 on Saturday because we have enough in our attacking locker to create chances, we just don't always take them.

10 points from our last 12, but this will be the biggest test for our new backline and team shape, against a side who is IMO for this level excellent on the ball at pulling teams around and retaining possession.

We're 11th, which is about right for us. We won't go any higher unless our current XI plus one or two more stays fit for the remaining season.

We're going to have to play a lot better tomorrow if we're gonna get anything, last couple of games haven't been great. Orient deserved their win at TNL at the start of the season and will fancy the job again based on their current form I reckon.

Think we'll see a few changes, team needs freshening up. The isolating players should be properly back in the swing of things now which should help. Hopefully Cadden's injury isn't too bad, we don't have any other real options at lwb.

I’d probably take a 2-0 defeat and Ebou Adams breaking his leg.

Walsall v Crawley

I've notice Saddlers seem to be a bit down on their team this season but they seem to be doing OK. Maybe I've missed something.

We will have a few changes for the next few games. Francomb (captain) out with a broken arm. Hesketh will miss 3 games for a straight red , Matthews got a bang to the head and Watters came off with a knock v Cambridge.

Maybe a chance to see how our squad will cope.

Fancy us to get something so it will turn into a disappointing 2-0 win for Walsall now.

Cannot see anything but a Newport win. If it was a few weeks ago then maybe, because we played well against Port Vale, Colchester and Oldham. But since then I think we’ve dropped off a bit these last 3 games. Our energy isn’t quite the same as it was a couple of weeks ago, we’re still missing chances, we keep conceding sloppy goals from set pieces, one in each of the last 3 games. Newport will capitalise, they are top of the league for a reason.

Carlisle 0-2 Newport

It was indeed a lazy appointment. Never wanted him back personally. Still a legend around these parts, and it's sad to see him failing spectacularly 3rd time around as manager, but not surprised in the least. Judging by his constant tinkering with players and formations, and truly shocking recruitment this summer, he is already feeling the pressure with some strange post match interviews.

Nothing less than a victory tomorrow and again on Saturday against Tonbridge Angels will relieve the pressure on him. If he fails in these matches this week, I suspect he will walk.

As for the game itself, I do actually see us scraping a win in a dour game.

Toure’s suspension might not be such a bad thing as it forces us to shake up the forward line and may well result in more goals. Good time for Omari Patrick to be back to fitness, it's hardly like we're weakening the squad if he replaces Toure. He's a different kind of player and that might turn out to be a good thing.

The availability of Hayden could also be a factor. He’s by far our best centre back and although Hunt did alright when he came on, I still think we’ll need Hayden in that back line to stand a chance against this lot. But I’m thinking if it was a head injury he may not even be allowed to play 3 days later even if he us fine? I’m sure there’s some kind of rule like that.

Also think it might be an idea to start Furman. Think this is the type of game where we might need that extra bit of experience in midfield, particularly if we have a weakened back 4 with Hayden out.

Aye, for what’s its worth I fully expect you to win this as well albeit mainly due to Southend’s issues at the moment. Problem for Bradford is whether it’s just a case of delaying the inevitable if you do win.

I think from the outside looking in there’s some decent players in the squad apart from up front. In some respects you remind me of Vale under Aspin where there are good players but a manager and coaching staff with little to no clue how to use them properly.
