Saturday May 22nd
Aldershot Town v Bromley 3pm
Altrincham v Yeovil Town 3pm
Chesterfield v Dagenham & Redbridge 3pm
Eastleigh v Boreham Wood 3pm
Maidenhead United v FC Halifax Town 3pm
Notts County v Weymouth 3pm
Stockport County v Woking 3pm
Torquay United v Barnet 3pm
Wealdstone v Solihull Moors 3om
Wrexham v King’s Lynn Town 3pm

Sunday May 23rd
Sutton United v Hartlepool United 12:45pm

The championship could be decided this weekend, in the admittedly unlikely event of Torquay not beating Barnet, a win for Sutton on Sunday would see The U’s crowned champions. But I’m getting ahead of myself as Hartlepool will be looking to secure a by to the playoff semifinals.

The standout game in the race for the playoffs is at Chesterfield, where a win for Dagenham would put them a point behind the hosts with a game to go.

Dagenham can only get 65 points, which WON'T be enough for a play-off spot. They can still do us a big favour though, by beating both Chesterfield and Wrexham. :ds:

We're pretty much at full strength unless someone snaps a leg in training today, feeling quite confident we'll get a result on Sunday, we've got the best strike duo in the league and can cause anyone problems, 26 goals between them since they started together in January, if Luke Armstrong had been playing for us since the start of the season we'd of been champions a long time ago now, ifs and buts I know but it's true.

A big Torquay win on Saturday will swing the pressure back on Sutton, just hope we play our part for our fellow Brother and deliver a win.

Also if Woking and their 10 L's in a row fancy picking up a sneaky shithoused win that would also be appreciated.

It would be just like Notts to screw this up in front of a "sell-out" Meadow Lane...

We’re either riding the wave of having 5k back at Meadow Lane and winning 6-0 or something, or freezing completely and losing 1-0 to a late set piece.

This would usually be correct.. but I just don’t see it under Burchnall with the way we are playing at the moment. Would like to see an early goal to settle any nerves.

Thank God we hit form or this could have been quite a toxic atmosphere! However the ‘Fullarton II’ thing has been banished and the new coach should get a good reception, bar the diminishing band of Ardley loyalists.

2-0 Notts.

The difference a couple of weeks make eh? I’m hoping a lot of people have learned a bit of a lesson from this tbh. Although typically everyone has gone wildly the other way now and thinks we’re going to rampage through the play-offs.

We’ve all seen our share of Notts fuck ups, but not winning on Saturday would probably top the lot.

I see they have beaten both Stockport and Hartlepool this year...

If we don't win our game we should be relegated.

Do or die for us, you would suspect.

We are limping towards the finish line. Last Saturday's cock up made things harder than they could have been. Making up the numbers in the play offs would represent some tangible progress but being realistic, we aren't going to win them.

Eastleigh should do it now I reckon, with their game in hand being one of three pretty kind fixtures.

I would back Notts 5th, Eastleigh 6th, Wrexham 7th if pushed I think.

They're not very good, we switched off at a set piece, their only time they got in our half and they scored. We did our pre Armstrong trick of missing chance after chance with 80% possession.

Have to agree there, if we hadn't fannied about signing David Parkhouse or Mason Bloomfield and play them as a lone 'striker'. Budget obviously wasn't great at the start of the season but yeah if we'd been backed from the beginning we'd have won the league.

Not sure I'm as confident as you about the result, remember it's on a trampline and we're historically shite on them surfaces. We have to win though if we want 3rd as Stockport will despatch Woking. Seems our chances are running out. Final throw of the dice. Why didn't we play the Weymouth game when we had the momentum? That was a mistake.

Basically everyone has something like that though, don’t they? Not sure about Sutton, but Torquay have had half a team injured for months, Stockport could’ve signed Madden earlier, we’ve had our key player missing for the entire season etc etc

We generally are yeah, Harrogate especially, but we've actually drawn 3 outta 3 on their plaggy mess, dunno where my confidence has come from but I just feel like we'll turn up and piss on the celebration.

Feel free to quote this in the future Jared when we get our pants pulled down Sunday dinner time.

Well we've had Liddle out for around 3 or 4 months and he's our most important player. Everyone gets injuries, we just weren't backed sufficiently at the start of the season. All ifs and buts but if you saw us before the new year we were bossing virtually every game but no one to put the ball in the net. If we'd have had Armstrong we would be 10 or 15 points better off. Its not just his goals, it's the confidence we have on the pitch when he's playing. So yes I do think we'd have won the league if we'd signed a proper forward in the summer as opposed to new year when it was getting painfully obvious. Not sure Madden has had the same impact to be fair.

To be fair, I saw you before the new year and we battered you at Meadow Lane but lost 1-0, so maybe we’re not the best to confirm this theory. ;)

A few weeks ago, Searle said that we could have a huge influence on the top of the table come the end of the season, with Torquay, Sutton, Hartlepool, Eastleigh and Bromley still to play. So far, we’ve played 4 of those and lost all 4. Expecting Bromley to be similar to Eastleigh, and think we’ll lose 3-1 again, although they weren’t particularly good when we played them on BT earlier in the season.

Second half yeah but felt we were worthy of the lead at half time. We had played 3 games in 6 days as well.

Second half you did, first half we should've been out of sight

Edit: See above!

Out of sight is a stretch, but I was on the wind up haha. Second half was ridiculous though, we missed about three genuine tap ins.

I would still say it’s just one of many what ifs in any league over a season rather than the decisive one, particularly such a weird year with schedules all over the place.

Well, it’s last chance saloon for us now. Poor form, injuries and negative tactics have made it that realistically, we have to win our last 2 games to stand any chance. Even then I think we would need a favour or two.

Do I think we will do it? No, is my honest answer. Haven’t seen enough in recent weeks especially with Earing missing to suggest we are capable of two wins on the bounce. Just living in hope at this point.

Lot of our lot on here, Hartlepool, Notts, Wrexham fans etc saying they could have been champions if X had happened or they've got the best player in the league or whatever.

Sutton by the far the best team I've seen this season and their 2 or 3 forward players were the best players I've seen this season. After watching them a couple of months back, I was convinced they'd win the league. Now on the verge. No fluke or luck.

Funnily enough Stockport have been the only team I've been impressed with, well Torquay when we played at theirs looked good as well (less so at Easter).

Its been such an odd year, teams haven't been able to train and recover as they usually would because if the odd scheduling at times. So probably noone is as good as they could be, and certainly not consistent. It would also explain the higher than normal injuries.

For the record we definitely couldn't have been champions this year. We were poor for the first dozen or so games of the season. We've developed a top half mediocrity now and at times have even looked good- but not often enough and we are some way off the standard required to win the league.

I think you can have been pro Ardley without being anti Burchnall. He's turned things right round, basically since Ross was sacked. Can't see it being anything other than a rousing welcome for him to be honest.
We should get the win against Weymouth which would make Bromley away a lot less of a worry next week.

We absolutely deserve to be where we are, lower playoffs. We've played poorly for a good fifteen games this season, getting points because we've some good players to make the difference.
Playing our best stuff of the season over the last couple of weeks having played our worst stuff the month before.
Best team we've played for me was Hartlepool away, they bossed it, we had nothing. Also thought Bromley were good a couple of weeks ago and Chesterfield at ours gave us a quiet mauling. Sutton workmanlike with a good striker.
Barnet at home early season were a shambles, Solihull and Yeovil home and away both very moderate.
I think it will end
Sutton
Torquay
Stockport
Hartlepool
Notts
Wrexham
Eastleigh.

Hartlepool Stockport final, Pools to win, Challinor to leave for Tranmere after the final whistle.

Haha, I'd take that but Challinor is only flattered to be linked.

Best I've seen was Torquay at our place, we did hand them the goals but very clinically done. Sutton were good and we had to work hard to beat them. They're probably the two best I've seen. Dagenham were decent at ours and definitely underachieving this year.

I don't fancy drawing Eastleigh in the play offs. Very tough to beat and they gave us two hard games. I don't think we've ever beaten them either.
