Well, someone had to do it! As it stands, we're going ahead, so let's have at it. Will all games survive Covid-19 AND Storm Alex? Doubtful.

We have to be looking at getting three points at troubled Dover, although conditions sound like they might be pretty dodgy and a great leveller thanks to the above named weather event. In summary - who knows?? But I'm going to stick my neck out and say Dover 0-2 Notts.

I nominate Wooderson as the official match day thread starter.

We've yet to win an opening day fixture in this hellhole league, not really sure how Aldershot have got on pre season but we've gotta be starting with a win, Challinor has signed some half decent attacking options, albeit mostly untested at this level and we should do well in that department but I'm still not confident in the defence, we still have no recognised RB and are seemingly gonna stick Ryan Donaldson in there, a trio (when Lewis Cass signs) of young centre backs with potential but a big lack of experience and the keeper Killip who has had more than his share of fuck ups often fills you with dread.

With that said, fresh start, stay positive, a close, 2-1 Pools win.

I’m expecting to pay 9.99 for the stream and it won’t work.

Can’t tell you how good it feels to see a matchday thread again. We start off at Hartlepool, the sort of game we’ll either get stuffed 4-0 or win comfortably 2-0. We’ve had a fairly uninspiring pre season, won a few, lost a few and I think a lot of our hopes are pinned on Ross McCormack, who doesn’t look match fit yet (only had a couple of sub appearances so far).

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Absolutely :fl:
It better had ,it’s bad enough paying a tenner to watch scuff-ball, without it conking out. Seriously, though, everyone has got to get their act together, although I would expect a few glitches along the way. We have to make the best of it, and I can’t wait. No prediction from me, not particularly impressed pre-season, particularly centre defence. We shall see...

If the last few seasons are to go by i'd get more enjoyment out of paying my £10 for the stream to help the club out then turning it off at 3pm!

Wealdstone can be expected to benefit from a fair few of our fans buying the stream for sure. The beamback at the ground in the lounges sold out in 48 hours1

I reckon there would have been over 2,000 in for this one had it been normal circumstances, ah well...

No idea how Saturday will go, you haven't had a pre-season and ours has been far from ideal. I still don't know how we're going to setup and could probably only name 4 or 5 guaranteed starters at this moment in time.

I'll settle for a repeat of last season's Torquay Utd v Stockport County scoreline, please

There would have been a decent following from us, 500-700 I reckon at least given the new manager/takeover buzz.

I think we will get beat personally, we're suspect at the back and PSFs haven't changed my thoughts on that. We're also 2/3 games behind you in terms of prep so likely will look unfit too. I'll have a bet on Draw HT/Wealdstone FT potentially. Should be goals too

We have an 11 year old in charge of it so expect lots of chatter about Transformers or Peppa Pig or whatever shite they watch these days.

Despite always losing to Maidenhead in the last few years I’m hoping that we repeat the result from our last opening day game against them at Gander Green Lane back in 2005 where we won 4-1.

1-1, Dover - Notts.
If we're serious about promotion this is a match we should be winning but I don't think I we will based on the turgid pap we've been churning out pre season.

Sounds like we think Roberts might be fit enough to be involved, which would be a big boost. Be interesting to see how we line up having spent much of pre-season pissing about with random formations and line ups.

I'd be amazed if we go with the diamond.
as Ardley always goes four at the back and nearly always two up front if narrows down the options.

I did put this in its own thread at the top of the page but because I worked hard at this and there's only 2 days before the season begins, I don't want it to get missed.

Many thanks and any feedback is appreciated.

I'd take a point at Torquay tbh.

Wouldn't surprise me at all, except I can't see us getting the consolation goal this time.

We have the polar opposite, ancient local journo who spends the entire game reminiscing about the past rather than focusing on the game in front of him. Not so bad for the streaming but when he's doing the radio you've zero chance of knowing what's happening.

I used to enjoy the loval coverage when we played FGR, some old guy who used to go on long rambling stories about 'Hill fog'.

So it's definitely starting I see.

Alty haven't won an opening game of the season since 2013, 4 defeats and 2 draws in that time.

Hate not being able to attend matches, will now know what it’s like for every premier league fan I know because hardly any of them attend matches.

Tricky start Hovisfax but would certainly be good if we take all 3 points but who can’t predict anything after no real games for 6 months.

Anyone else feeling a lack of the usual excitement for the start of the season? I think the current situation has drained a lot of my enthusiasm for the new season (although watching the Sutton v Maidenhead stream will be the centrepoint of my day)
