Wrexham v Maidenhead United (Live on BT Sports)

13/10/2020

Altrincham v Solihull Motors
Barnet v Weymouth
Dover Athletic v Aldershot Town
FC Halifax Town v Yeovil Town
Hartlepools United v Bromley
King's Lynn Town v Boreham Wood
Sutton United v Notts County
Torquay United v Chesterfield
Wealdstone v Stockport County
Woking v Dagenham & Redbridge

Picks of the bunch here would be the brotherhood clash between Torquay United and Chesterfield, unbeaten Sutton United hosting big boys Notts County and last years' play-off contenders FC Halifax Town 2008 v Yeovil. Torquay go into their match as favourites having won their first brotherhood clash against Stockport earlier in the season, while Chesterfield couldn't overcome the relentless Hartlepools last week. Chesterfield did give Woking a bit of a well deserved hiding over the weekend but I feel they won't have enough for Gary Johnson's side who I predict will win 2-0.

Excluding Macclesfield, Sutton United have conceded the least amount of goals so far this season, only letting 1 in in their opening 3 fixtures. Notts County on the other hand, managed to tally 7 goals in their previous 2 fixtures proving they are not exactly goal-shy. Sutton have started the season very well, having won all of their 3 fixtures which makes them only 1 of 2 sides with a perfect record so far (again, excluding Macclesfield). Notts have a mediocre record away from home and may struggle on the ridiculously bouncy 3g surface at Gander Green Lane, but they do possess enough quality to end Sutton's perfect run. I'm predicting a low scoring draw here.

Last, but certainly least comes Halifax against Yeovil, both sides with a less than impressive start to the season. Yeovil found themselves on the end of a Dean Keates 1-0 whooping over the weekend while Halifax took part in a 0-0 thriller at Boreham Wood. Neither side have shown they have the metal to replicate their form of last season but it is early days and perhaps one of these 2 teams will step up their game tomorrow night. With Yeovil incapable of defending, I predict Halifax will have just about too much for the boys in green and will go on to win this one 2-1, sending B2TF into a thread-starting frenzy yet again.

Tough game for us but we shook things up on Saturday, with 2 new signings and a couple of young lads coming in - one of whom 18 year old scored twice.

IT gives me more confidence that we can compete this year, obviously we don't want to be relying on 2 18 year olds from the academy but the result was a big one.

We're behind everyone else thanks to our awful Pre Season and then having our first game postponed so expect we may make changes - perhaps Tyler Denton and Mandeville coming into the side. Sharman may get a start after his 2 goals at the weekend. Kiwomya played 90 mins despite only being signed Friday night so he may sit out. I'll go for 1-1

Tomorrow should be a decent test for us, been a strange first three games, we've been middling to below average in the opening 45 minutes of matches, then coming on strong and playing some decent football in the second 45 and winning all three, we've yet to be punished by any team yet for the slow opening.

There's goals across this team, but also can't see us keeping many clean sheets this season, I'll go 2-1 Pools again.

Be happy enough with a point on the 3G at Sutton to be honest, ahead of a home game with Maidenhead on Saturday, which we should win in a fairly straightforward manner (hopefully without an almost bottle job this time)... expect us to make 3/4 changes tomorrow night, our best CB Alex Lacey will probably come in after being rested on Saturday, and we’ll likely make a change in CM too.

Don’t think the 3G is an issue at all, if anything it probably suits our style of football.

Interesting game, both Sutton and Notts have had decent starts (our stupid defeat at Dover aside), but I’m not sure either have played anyone who is going to trouble the top ten or so. Be more of a marker of where we are.

Expect us to largely continue with the very sensible and effective ‘give the ball to Cal Roberts’ gameplan.

Sounded like he had a bit of a knock on Saturday, wouldn’t be surprised to see him rested. Wes Thomas will probably come back in too.

BT Sport viewers treated to a bit of Keatesball this evening!
Should be winning this from looking at Maidenhead's start. We have a few players slowly returning (Jarvis, Ponticelli) so team selection will be interesting given we'll have played little over 48 hours earlier as well.
Fancy us to win 2-0 in a drab affair

This is a chance to put a few past a poor side, so we will put 11 men behind the ball the moment we go 1 up and concede one late off a corner.

Devball should be an entertaining watch too, our no tackle policy in our own third of the pitch should lead to plenty of goals.

On this day (well, tomorrow 13 October) 2001
Football League Div 1 (Today’s Championship, step 2 of the pyramid) Man City 2 Stockport County 2;
Ryman League Div 1 (step 7 of the pyramid) Thame Utd 4 Wealdstone 2

Fast forward to 2020 and "pub" team Stones take on the "mighty" Stockport, as peers. I know which club has gone in the right direction..

Fuck all has changed. You're still a pub team and we're still mighty.

You’re both tin-pot, like the rest of us. Prepare for a long stay.
We'd still be mighty if we were in the North West Counties league, makes fuck all difference to us really.

That may be the case but at least we're a pub team which has won this league that you're so desperate to get out of...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It wouldn't surprise me to see a complete change in the forward line tomorrow night - use Lafayette's strength and either Parish/Slew to run off him and in turn allow the team to be more direct. It's all well and good trying to play pretty football but it was largely ineffective on Saturday and I'd imagine Stockport will be pressing with high intensity. At least that option gives their defenders something to think about.

We can’t defend but can score and are playing a team that can defend but hasn’t scored yet. Which combination will win out?

We've come across a lot of billy big bollocks clubs and fans over the years, but a Stockport fan asking on Twitter if we're providing a commentator to provide exclusive commentary just for away fans, not home fans, is right up there with some of the most entitled nonsense I've ever seen.

You must be a glass half empty kind of guy.
We will let in the mandatory 3 goals per game, so you will have to concede 4 to get Devonshire.

Is Wealdstone the club with that little inbred guy in the "you want some" videos from a few years back? Some guy on our forum reckons it is.

BT are more arsed about our takeover than we are, they never stop talking about it. The references and little puns during commentary will be unbearable all game.

Making use of the energy we saved in the second half on Saturday.

Wrexham look to have very little pace or creativity.

A surprisingly good half by Maidenhead and their goal was very nicely taken.
Is this how a Dean Keates team is supposed to play?

Have to say, Maidenhead soaked up the pressure, have created three good chances and scored a good goal.
It's wrecking my acca.
