SATURDAY 28TH AUGUST 2021

  • Boreham Wood v Aldershot
  • Chesterfield v Wealdstone
  • Dag & Red v Bromley
  • Eastleigh v Wrexham
  • Grimsby v Weymouth
  • Maidenhead United v Dover
  • Notts County v Torquay
  • Solihull Moors v Barnet
  • Woking v Halifax
  • Yeovil v King's Lynn
  • Southend v Stockport

Tough game v Torquay for us, who I imagine will pose a stiffer test than Barnet (no offence Bees fans) and a chance to avenge the playoff defeat. Hopefully Danny Wright won't pull our pants down again. We'll be unchanged, barring injuries. I notice Torquay had a couple missing versus Alty. Any chance of Lemonheigh-Evans being fit?

Wealdstone at home it is then. I’m still on holiday so will be missing this one but it’s a game we should be looking to dominate and win. Wealdstone made it awkward for us at our place at the back end of last season and managed to take a point, almost nabbing all 3 late on but for a very good montgomery save… so definitely don’t expect it to be a walk in the park.

I’d make a couple of changes to the team that started at Aldershot. Clarke to come in for Mandeville as he was the game changer at the weekend no doubt about it, and I’d also swap Khan for Weston to be a little bit more on the front foot and attacking.

If we go with that^^, then we’ll look like this on Saturday:

GK - Loach

CB - Grimes
CB - Gunning (c)
CB - Maguire

RWB - King
LWB - Miller

CM - Khan
CM - Oyeleke
CAM - Clarke

ST - Rowe
ST - Tshimanga

Interested to hear how stones fans are viewing this one and how they expect they’ll approach the game…

I know they had a shocker on Saturday, but this will be a much bigger test for us than Barnet. Johnson will try and find a way to make it a more physical game than we’d want and get Wright/Holman into it. Cameron has got to keep his head and just play the game, as well.

We’ve got to think about how we manage minutes with Wrexham away on Monday. Roberts played 90 at Barnet and looks like he’s finally sorted, but with Rodrigues only playing an hour and still getting minutes in his legs from a disrupted pre-season, I can’t see either of them doing two 90 minute games in three days.

Both will probably start this one though and take it from there. May even benefit us to hold one back at Wrexham and be a bit more solid for that one anyway.

Yeah that's the most sensible team I'd say. I would've suggested Kerr in for Grimes for balance but sounds like the latter played well against Aldershot and their awful bogs so I'll allow him to stay. Comfortable win surely.

According to Opta, we had the most possession of any side in the league during that first week of the season (67%). Now that could be attributed to either Woking sitting back in the second half or Alex Dyer coming on at half time and picking up the tempo of our movement and passing. Either way we well and truly camped Woking into their own half. I'm not expecting anything near the same at Chesterfield but this notion that we'll stick 11 men behind the ball to me is laughable.

We'll almost certainly play 3-5-2 as well so could make for a good tactical battle. If Chesterfield's ticketing portal is to believed, it could well be a 5,000+ crowd in on Saturday. 120 tickets sold so far our end, unfortunately I'm having to wait until tomorrow or Friday due to the 'rona either potentially calling off the game or picking it up myself and not being able to attend.

Our nice easy start continues. Really tough game again, I'd actually be happy with another draw. Which probably demonstrates a shocking lack of ambition on my part.

That’s good to hear actually, will make for a much more attractive and open game.

Not sure what to expect from our long trip down to Yeovil, hopefully we will benefit from having played a competitive game last weekend although losing Morias will stretch our thin squad. Will be more than happy if we come back with a point and no injuries / stupid red cards

Unfortunately not able to make the game on Saturday.

On paper you'd expect us to win comfortably - so a 0-1 away win is likely in front of 5200 fans.

Not sure that the standard of our lavatories had any bearing on your team’s performance.Oh I don’t know though, a turd’s a turd, whether it’s on the pitch or the terrace.

No idea if our lot have even trained together since our Covid cancelled opener. No mention of any improvement or relapses on the injury front either, so can't pick what the team might be, as we have/had so many out.

Just hope Weymouth are frightened by a passionate crowd and whoever dons a TOWN shirt has a decent game.

Another tough away match but it should give us an indication of where we are at with our new team .Mullin of course will score.
Notice Dover are due to play will they remember how to play football?

Few new coughs developing in the Dover squad today apparently.

Grimsby will definitely play this weekend too seeing as it’s a banker in Weymouth at home, no need to shit it again like they did from highly-fancied Bromley last weekend.

Eastleigh didn’t play last week either so will be nice and fresh.

I predict Eastleigh 1-0 Wrexham, and Wrexham already 5 points behind the true title challengers - Notts, Chesterfield and Altrincham.

Its ok, with this start I am presuming our run in consists of 8 games against already relegated teams. Twenty four points, 40 goals scored, none conceded.

Nice run in to grab 10th place.

I don't think it will be tough for you, sadly. Would be pleasantly surprised if we don't get a hiding. By all accounts, we got comfortably and deservedly beaten by a good Altrincham team. I reckon it is going to take a few games for our new lot to get to grips with the National League. And we don't have any pace. Not sure what happened to Evans. It is possible he's getting a phone call from Rob and Ryan. I think he was the only one missing, the other absentees play for you now.

Can’t wait for this, Weymouth at home might not be the most glamorous fixture but it’s been so long since I’ve been to a game that I’m buzzing for it.

Just checked and 25th Feb 2020 a 4-2 win over Newport was my last game so it’s been a very long time.

It should be a good time to play Torquay, a lot of new players to bed in, lost the opener and an exodus of some of their best players.
I'd be surprised if we don't concede but think we should have enough to win.

I agree, they were nothing special at all. And their manager is a very sore loser so get ready to be criticised for timewasting if you win.

I think it'll probably be a tight game in Saturday, separated by the odd goal if at all. Hopefully with Rowe and Kabby there's enough there to snatch a winner.

Confident on Saturday, which is a bad thing for me.
We pulled Barnet apart after we got the lead. A big ask is when we go behind, but we now have goals all over the pitch so I am actually happy atm.

2-0 Notts

2-0 Notts

Previously we would go 1-0 up then try to sit back and hold on, but not under IB. Think this will either be a frustrating 0-1 to the Gulls, despite California’s misgivings (weren’t Hall and Andrews missing too btw?) or a convincing Notts win
