So it seems fans (not all) have got their wish and Ray Trew has resigned as Chairman of Notts.
The club is now up for sale!

Wow!

Deserves credit for what he did in 2010, and not just for the club either.

It's the best move for him, I wouldn't pile money into something for constant abuse from "supporters". All this does is reinforce the idea that acting like horrible twats for months eventually gets them what they want.

The question being... who comes in now? Never had any problems finding buyers before...

It's the right decision, just not the ideal circumstances...

As has been said, deserves huge credit for what he did in 2010, but some of his decisions since then have been strange to say the least

Needs fresh blood to drag us out the malaise we're in at the moment

Looks like rich local businessman/fan chap is going to take over, has been rumours about it for a few months. Convenient time for RT just to have a bit of a hissy fit.

Best for both parties.

I do think it's sad the Trews won't be remembered as fondly as they should/could as at their core they're decent people who care about the club. It's just not worked out and every decision they make is worse than the last. Time for fresh blood and some new energy, I don't care if they're mega rich, just make me care about the club again and rid us of employing journeymen footballers and twats like Branston and Fullarton

If its who is said to be wanting to take over its rumored he has upwards of £150m, if its the guy who owns the golf club.

Any dodgy middle-eastern owners around?

Good news for you guys though, seems like you've been after it for a while

Owner of Paragon (quite a major sponsor for us over recent seasons)?

This is a little sad. I've no doubt Trew wanted what was best for Notts and gave it his all but this is probably best for all concerned. There were some fun times (people forget we were 7th in League Two when he took over - the end of that season was extraordinary) and up until about 4 years ago a real buzz about the place. It's a shame it's ended on such a bad note, but he does bear a lot of the responsibility for that.

Notts County in 'Going To Be Taken Over By Wealthy Owner (again) Shocker!'

That'll make a refreshing change.

Yeah, he's pretty much given it away on Twitter. Owns Paragon Interiors, that golf/hotel place and some other stuff.

He's a proper Notts fan, which I suppose is good. He's not got to do much to win people over, just appoint a manager that everyone doesn't hate.

There's wankers that own football clubs, and then there's wankers that own football clubs.

Fortunately this Trew chap seems a little lily livered. Whereas we had Keith Haslam for 20 years. Skin like a rhinoceros whilst slicing and carving away at a football club until only a carcass remains.

Least Trew messed County up with the best intentions and isn't an asset stripper.

Yeah, I'll admit, part of me is a little embarrassed we've seemingly drove out a couple of decent people with abuse (although there's no way that's the ONLY reason he's selling, not a chance, rumours have been around about Hardy for the last 6-8 months) when Leeds, Blackpool and Charlton fans are campaigning to get really bad people out of their club, who seem to just dig their heels in even more out of pure spite.

but ultimately, I think the club needs it. It's beyond me why anyone would want to own a football club, it really is, but thank god there's people rich and stupid enough to keep falling for it.

Finally. This has been coming for a while now, and needed for longer. A clean slate with no decisions being made by the likes of James Rodwell, Mr Trew or his lovely wife is the best thing that could happen to the old lady of English football.
Not entirely convinced Mr Hardy is anywhere near as wealthy as the uninformed think. Luckily I'm guessing/hoping and expecting that this isn't a one horse race to lose millions owning a lower league football club.
As for abuse, its been minimal other than online (and we all know that doesn't really count and is easily avoided). In fact it wasn't until Saturday that I've heard anything vocally directed at the owners and their shambolic but with good intentions running of my football club

Agree with a lot that's been said. I think it's best for all and hopefully this will increase the likelihood of Fullarton leaving. Trew had the best of intentions but never worked out

Who said what on Twitter about buying Notts?

What the fuck is it with random rich foreign owners taking interest in (relatively speaking) obscure English lower league clubs... Orient, Bristol Rovers, Notts County...

This came from me, so don't take it as gospel or owt.

There's only five Danish billionaires though and he looks by far the most logical from the small amount of digging that i've been able to do so far.

Yeah, the Danish billionaire story is legit and not like some weird 'there's a billionaire honest' type shtick (looks towards Cumbria). But it doesn't appear to be anything that's close and also something that is 99% likely not to happen because, well, he is worth billions (whichever one it is) and we are Notts County.

Usual Russians, Middle Easterns and Indians linked.

Loads of BS flying around but Hardy is furthest along the road. I doubt ther bids are actually serious. I do know that Trew will look to get a lot for the oldest league club brand. So he better hope we don't get relegated

Not necessarily true, the Danish guy was close in December - hence the rumour about a new Danish owner the same day as Moniz got the axe. I do think Hardy is most likely, that's pretty logical given his ties, the fact we know his name and the fact he's confirmed he wants to buy the club - it's certainly not BS though. The Danish guy is very real, no idea about the Yanks - that's from Slater and his record is less than reliable in recent years.

So the "Murikans" are officially interested now along with middle eastern and Danish along with Hardy.
Surprised there is so much interest to be honest.
Winter leaves the club at the end of March and they hope for a deal to be done before then!!
So we have been told it could take months now its just weeks!
