Agreed. Usually boils down to money for me. In the same way that people living in Chesterfield might only go to home games because of money, I tend to try and stick to the London based away games (luckily there are plenty) - with the odd home game chucked in throughout the year.
I pick and choose based on allsorts nowadays - though i have got a ST for the first time in 8 years this season.
Usually pick my away games based on day out value (locality or doable on train), weekend possibility (staying over in Southend, Weymouth and Torquay this season) or whether it's a new ground or not (got 6 of those this season but annoyingly the Woking game is off so that might be tough on a Tue night).

So a 700 estimate is in fact based off nothing? I would be hugely impressed with you bringing that many on a Tuesday, even at this point of the season.
It's probably based partly off the fact that we took 1200 to Stockport two Tuesdays ago which is only about 45mins further than Wrexham. Not sure how/why this has been overlooked.

Yes there are occasions when money isn't the main factor. Also got hotel booked for Torquay and would make the effort for Notts away.

That's a very good following.

It's a nice thing to be 'arguing' about to be fair, hope we have around 500-600 there to add to the atmosphere tonight. Work commitments stopped me being able to go I'm afraid.

Considering how wank we are playing defensively every game thats a good number. We are now just below 2000 home crowds and its a few hours drive there and back.

I’ll have you both know that my Sister works at night down Riby Square so that’s that theory put to bed.

2 observations about that post.

1. There’s been an alarming rise on this board of insuations that one’s girlfriend/sister is a sex worker.

2. I never knew Grimsby had a red light area, but why wouldn’t it, on the face of it Grimsby and prostitutes go together like Milton Keynes and roundabouts.

Little known fact:

Grimsby and Las Vegas are the only two places on earth where you can pay for your prostitute with chips.

As you say SG, we are bloody awful at the moment and to take that many on a Tuesday night is good going. However, if we fuck up at home against Southend (as we have done in the first three games 1-3, 0-4, 1-3) I can't see that many wanting to make the trip to Chesterfield on the 25th.

What’s the issue at the moment at Plainmoor 77? New signings not working out?

Was just thinking after yesterday's usual pasting from Sutton, that we were a penalty away from being in a similar situation to them. Then I felt better. Massive play off hangover by the looks of it.

Basically everyone called what’s happened to them and Southend. Expect Torquay to get better as the season goes on at least, but they lost so much quality that even someone as experienced as Johnson is going to take time to rebuild.

Yeah really expected Southend to struggle, think everyone said it all along. Now they're cribbing about losing at home to Aldershot. Lowest point? Nah it gets much worse than that.

As for Torquay, we'd be in a similar scenario to them just with an owner with his finger above the trigger if it hadn't gone the way it did.

On the field it is, so far!
Most of the issue for us remains off the field, I fully expected us to be nowhere near the top end of this division, but then I've spent the last 10 odd years watching more non-league football than league football. What's staggering from us so far is the level of attendance both home and away and the club simply doesn't deserve it.

For the last 2 years it's felt like the club was just a dead husk, being used as vehicle to get a housing scheme past councils, the majority of us, me included, hoped this division was a wake up call for that side of things to be sorted out but so far it's just groundhog day. I don't care if we're losing 10-0 at home to Dover or what league we're in, just want to see the football club I love back, just wish we had a fanbase that would stand up to our owner and force his hand.
If we were an animal we would have been put out of our misery by now.

In news from higher levels that ought to be in the tinpot thread. PNE to Sheffield Utd - 571 and Hull to Blackburn 463 (almost Scunthorpe-like that). Makes Wrexham's good number to Cleethorpes look even better, ours to Stockport and Torquay like motherfeckin Jonny Holmes.

One thing to note though - Preston fans were charged an obscene £33 at Bramhall Lane with £15 for kids.

The Wrexham following looked great in the highlights. Would have guessed more like 700 or even 800 if I hadn't known.

Think we will be pretty low tomorrow - 8 hour round trip on 4 days notice at possibly one of the most unattractive games in the league won't entice many. It's an easy one to miss
