I thought there were more.

Don’t want to question Southend but the turnstiles weren’t working so you just had to walk through so in reality they’d have had no idea really how many were there - which given the state they are in wouldnt suprised me
They definitely got our figures wrong due to a turnstile not working.

That seems odd considering we'd sold 950 by yesterday morning and would have shifted a few more before the end. One of our Trust directors is quoted as saying there were 1100 there but there was some problem with the ticketing system? Who knows, keeps our current average effectively the same.

Definitely looked like 1,000+ away fans to me.

Looked to be alot more than 450 on the terrace anyway and as the first 450 to buy tickets got the seats that does seem logical. Not that we can change the official figure - even Southend can't seem to put circa 500 away followings through turnstiles it seems and others are often estimates.

Town fan on the Fishy said that he had four tickets on his phone but the scanner wasn't working so they just checked them and let them in without the ticket being scanned. We sold 1,100 tickets for the game.

Sounds like more questionable counting from Woking - we've had a few trips to Woking where the away attendance has been under stated

Same with us last Tuesday, the last 20-30 people in the gate were ushered through with their pre paid tickets, due to one turnstile being open and the bloke on the only open turnstile taking cash payments having a mother’s meeting with two other chaps in Woking ties doing sod all. Even our figure that night was light by 20-30 so if you took that many it’s probably way off.

Hearing reports the bad Phil Parkinson has given up on the title race already and is hellbent on winning the away supporters league with a two step plan:

1) Send scramblers to all Grimsby away games so that only a fraction of our away tickets are scanned.
2) Ensure Wrexham never play away again this keeping their average at 960 all season.

I'm certain Southend undercooked our figure too, there's not a way they knew how many were in the ground with hoe they were just letting folk in without going through the turnstiles as the scanners had broken conveniently.

Feels like weve played almost all our away games anyway.

In light of these away support allegations I think it’s only right to adjust all the Brothers average figures up by around 500.

Except Wrexham.

Clubs been at this for years, always under reporting attendance figures. I'd say a majority of lower league clubs do it, especially any club who accepts cash on the day.

I know, almost 1700 sold now, and just been given another 350, still another week to go and tickets available on the day
Great effort. We've been having the 'how many will we take to Notts if we're still going well?' discussion a fair bit lately.

Just be glad we're not Mansfield, it'd be five figures minimum

Ah, so we’re one of the few clubs who do not under-report then!
