Oh how we laughed when that happened , but , Norwich then went on to storm the league ....so a heavy defeat is GOOD , it can focus minds on the bigger picture , so it's a blessing to lose heavily early on ....I'm glad we are now focused and prepared for the task ahead , and feel sorry for any of you non -footballing brained members who may somehow see this afternoons result as an amusement .....

We only have to look back at the season we beat Blackpool 7-0. Relegated to the conference.

Here's hoping history repeats itself for Stevenage.

Didn't Blackpool go up that year through the play-offs? I know a few Blackpool fans and they went to the final and I'm sure it was 2001 ish

Sorry about that - although we got tonked 8-2 by Peterborough once in Ferguson's first spell there

The first Barnet game I remember going to, sitting in the old temporary South stand. Great day, that.

I clearly remember the day that happened. It was the first day of the season when we were relegated. We'd been at Cheltenham and were superb first half and led 1-0 at the break but then they brought on 56 year old Barry Hayles at the break and we couldn't handle him and we ended up losing 2-1.

A few of us were on the train going home when we heard the Norwich result. "Cheer up lads, it could be worse, we could be Norwich fans" I piped up.

If only we'd known! :bg:

Are Hartlepool ever going to progress? Every year since we've been back up now you've been down that end. Last season was very disappointing after the heroics to survive the year before. Wish you'd fuck off up or down either way because it's getting tiresome turning up to your gaff and watching us lose.

No because there would be nothing worse than supporting a team and seeing them lose to Mansfield every season!

I recall losing 6-0 at Morecambe the year we got promoted to league one.

I remember saying to Morecambe fans that we ain't that bad really.

Every year someone starts off bad and ends up top half ....is it the same this year , or is the early season table about right ?

Amond looks all right to be fair, Magnay is decent at L2 level. It's just Toto who looks a liability. Deverdics hasn't impressed much so far either but he hasn't had much game time yet.

How's Boyce and Dan Jones getting on by the way?

Boyce is struggling to be honest, nothing like the player we had on loan a few seasons back. Jones has been injured and has hardly played so can't really form an opinion of him yet.

Didn't seem that long ago Hartlepool were the last team unbeaten in League One... I think that was the season they got relegated though. It seems to just be the Hartlepool way that all their wins come in August, March and April.

A Poolie season:
It's sunny outside - ''Yey we're gonna go up!"
It's raining outside - "This is shit, we're done for"
It's sunny outside - "Yey we survived, I wonder what next season will hold"

On our boards it's what if we win or what if we lose ....no one for a moment considers a draw

I'm sure we all expected Hartlepool to struggle without their best player this season, but not to this extent.
