No match thread? - it looks like distractions have already kicked in for we mid-table drifters. New sprogs to look after, gardens to tend, TVs to watch, music to seek out - the alternatives seem to be endless. I'd put Whaddon Rd in the new SatNav on Fri but by Sat a.m. didn't feel up to the drive, never mind the pre and post match rituals. Osteopath appointment on Tues.

It sounds like the pitch was sandy, boggy and bumpy, whilst the match was a great goal followed by 90 minutes scrapping and defending, with baiting Danny Wright and a cameo from BBB Corr as the only other highlights.

As we know by now, Derry loves a 1-0 away win and he can organise and motivate his striker-free bunch of players to deliver. That gives us nearly half a chance at Accrington in a week or so but I approach next weekend's visit of Satanage with some trepidation.

Pitch was atrocious, ref was atrocious, both teams were atrocious. Cheltenham had far more of the ball but we had the better chances to kill the game off. Good weekend though at the races on Friday, in one of my favourite away day pubs before the game, the random Bruce Forsyth cutout in the away end provided some distraction from the shite on the pitch for a while, and we did win after all.

We can get away playing that way away from home, against one of the poorest sides in the division, but we won't next week. Needs to be two up top, Corr/McDonagh with Elito if he's fit, Dunne for Taylor if he's fit, and it should be Maris for Berry but obviously won't (great cross for the goal but with that much time would've been inexcusable if he didn't, completely anonymous after that but was on the left for a long time).

Yep I'd drop Berry and go two up top at home now. I didn't make the Newport home game due to my sprog's arrival and I haven't been away since Boxing Day for the same reason. So I've not seen us win since 2nd November and the performances have been pathetic frankly.

We're 18th in the league at home and 5th away from home (with a game in hand). That's a sad indictment of Derry's (lack of) tactical nous - it's easier to set a team up to defend and hit on the counter away from home than it is to take the game to any opposition at home.

So yeah, good win on paper yesterday but all reports sound like a dreadful performance and I too am fearful of Stevenage next weekend.
