Big pressure for a win Saturday. Be nice if Accrington can get a result as well as us. Would bring it down to 3 points and Plymouth still have to visit fratton.
Need a run of 3-4 wins on the bounce

This fixture usually ends up with an away win. If we stay patient I'm sure the chances will come. The Newport squad doesn't look particually strong so hoping we'll have too much for them.

Pompey really surprise me that they aren't in the position Northampton are in.

Beat us easily home and away, although I think we give you too much respect, but struggle against lesser sides.

If we cant get 3rd I hope you do in place of Plymouth as I think that would leave a slightly easier play off route to L1, plus I have you in my £100 accy and don't want you on my cuntlist.

Our record against the better teams away is very good, won at Northampton, Accrington, Bristol Rovers, draws at Oxford, Wycombe and Carlisle. And yet somehow lost at Barnet, Notts County and Leyton Orient (Hendon).

I'm a little worried as every time we look like we're onto something good we always blow it against mediocre opposition. Hopefully this time will be different.

We have to win this with at least one of Accrington and Plymouth dropping points today.

We always cock these games up. Time to prove our worth and string a decent run together. To many draws have killed us so far this season, the 8 points dropped in injury time alone would have been huge for us.

My verdict of the game,

first half not a lot in it, referee booked 3 or 4 of our players but let Newport get away with no booking for the same sort of fouls. The first goal looked like abit of Fulton not being strong enough and a foul on Fulton, would need to see again but looked the sort of incident that usually the keeper gets a foul for.

Roberts getting sent off, first yellow he kicked out on a Newport player and deserved a yellow, the second was booked for a dive when running just outside the penalty area. Like the first goal would need to see again but if he has dived I'd be disappointed.

We done our usual first half of dominating the game without actually doing anything then a mixture of Newport being far more up for it than us and a strange refereeing display to constantly break up play with no consistency killed us.
Newport were the much hungrier side and deserved their win

wow wow wow, that was horrible. massive opportunity and we blew it, feel sick as a parrot.

as so often with watching pompey (or probably football in general) a big chance to gain some real ground and we looked deer in headlights. we had no bite at all, ref was a bit dodgy but can't be blamed. once roberts was sent off at one nil newport could hit us at will on the break. never had a decent shot until late late on in the game.

only positive is that the gap on 3rd remains the same...

Wasn't very gentlemanly of Newport, putting 3 past you like that

Personally I think that Newport have hurt themselves today. If they had not scored three then this could have been the start of a very beneficial partnership when Pompey return to their natural place amongst the European elite and need someone to loan players to.

Glad to see I didn't put the mockers on it with my conservative score draw Don haha. Over the moon with the 3 points. We're almost safe now which is brilliant compared to where we came from under Butcher.

Terry Butcher :fl: A fucking joke of a manager.

Two points from our first eight games.....it's been a brilliant effort since by firstly Sheridan and now Feeney to get us to this position.

You were very neat and tidy when you visited E10. By far the best of the lower-end scrappers that I've seen (not seen Morecambe or York).
