Beat Wealdstone 3-0 this evening. Again no sign of what you would call “first team” left backs in the squad. Don’t think Potts has been around all pre season and Galloway seemingly had a set back in his recovery from injury. Definitely an area we need to look at urgently, neither player is reliable injury wise and both of questionable quality IMO.

I watched this game last night - the weather was absolutely appalling and really did make it difficult to make a spectacle of it.

The weather clearly being a factor, but it appeared Luton we’re taking a more direct approach with their style of play.

Indeed, I agree, the full back situations (if they weren’t urgent before) are becoming quite urgent now. That said, the youngsters that filled in there looked fairly assured. Kioso and Jones looked like they knew what they were doing - perhaps this is the opportunity for them?

According to NJ only 1 or 2 additions needed. Unless he is counting Bree has done already that’s very light for me. Need a good quality centre half, right back and a left back as a minimum for me.

Everyone seems quite happy with Potts/Galloway at left back which I can’t get my head around, but there you go.

A 2-0 win over Dynamo Dresden today in the second leg of our German tour. Terrible pitch and wind meant the match never really got going, but nice to see Pukki and Hugill get themselves onto the scoresheet at least.

Rotherham beat a young Leicester team 3 2 yesterday.
Depending who you believe on our forum, we beat Doncaster Rovers away 4 0 or 5 0 today.

we got thumped 5-1 by a decent West Ham side. We played 2 different squads per half though, both packed full of triallists, so I wouldn't read anything into the result.

We've got games vs Southampton and Villa to come, probably at least the next one will be pretty experimental also, and I wouldn't expect that we'll put out a side that resembles our First XI until the final friendly.

We're playing two full matches against SV Darmstadt today to conclude our pre-season schedule, with different XIs being used for both matches. The XI for the first match looks reasonably close to what I'd expect our starting XI to look like in the league, so I anticipate a less experienced squad for the later match. Doubt either XI will be close to what we can manage for the cup game, though.

Dipped into the YouTube stream of our game against Northampton. Missed the first 15 or so but we look way short of where we need to be. Only pre season but we look 3 or 4 Players short and very rusty.

One of the youth lads, Beckwith has had a decent game at left back though which is encouraging.

The blue 3rd kit has been paired with bright orange shorts for some reason - having now seen all our kits now in games, they all seem to have been paired with another kits shorts as none of them really match the shirts.

Luton complete their pre-season preparation with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Northampton. The first half was decidedly ordinary, but certainly competitive for both sides. When the cavalry came on after an hour, the pace was certainly upped by Luton; I suspect most of those who ended the game will play v Norwich next weekend. I was really impressed with Avan Jones - I think he's really going to be a breakthrough player for us that can't really be said about many in the last few years.

Berkhamsted 0-9 Luton Town
Stevenage 0-1 Luton Town
Wealdstone 0-3 Luton Town
Northampton Town 0-3 Luton Town

PL4 W4 F16 A0 - give us that preseason trophy now!

Looked better after the subs and the hilarious goal that Northampton gave us to make it 1-0. Actually put some passes together with the changes and players like Moncur and LuaLua on the pitch. The second was a decent pass and finish as well. Still thought we looked distinctly ordinary in possession and missing some players in key positions but can’t argue with a 4 win, no goals conceded pre season.

A 3-2 win in the first game against Darmstadt, followed by a goalless draw in the second. Even though those two goals were the only ones we conceded in the entirety of pre-season, it was still concerning to see the same sort of defensive mistakes still persisting after two full seasons of them.

Even last time at this level, our defence was nowhere near good enough for a top six side and we sorely need improvement in that area if we're to compete for promotion again.

Barden looks like he'll deputise fine for the Luton cup game, while Placheta is also looking very promising and Pukki seems to have found his instinct again. Still, can't read too much into pre-season, so we'll see how things shape up as the season progresses.

Well we won 1-0 v Scunthorpe.

No idea who scored or play as our manager literarily wanted to keep it all information private!!

Got Spurs next week ..

Drew 0-0 with Burnley, sounds like Sinclair had a shot that crossed the line but wasn't given.

Sheff Utd & Everton up next.

2-2 with Sheff Utd, a penalty from DJ and a last minute equaliser from Stockley.

I thought we were really good in the second half, quality link up on the counter between DJ, Barky & Sinclair, carved them open numerous times.

Sinclair was brilliant, looking forward to seeing him with a proper pre-season under his belt, his quality is obvious.

First goal was bad defending but I don't think their penalty was the correct decision under the current rulings, it bounced up awkwardly and Pearo didn't move his hand towards the ball.

Good performance.

Played well till the end getting stuck in and showing some pace on the attack.

A second string 11 lost 2-0 to Everton today, not sure how strong their line-up was, not very i'd guess due to internationals.
