FANS of The Walking Dead are up in arms about the withdrawal of a fan T-shirt from the shelves.

Primark today announced it was removing a top with the words “eeny meeny miny moe” emblazoned across it along with a bloodied baseball bat.

The Walking Dead's Negan says 'eeny meeny miny moe' in series six finale
The T-shirt is a reference to the season 6 finale of the zombie show which saw a character Negan recite the rhyme whilst brandishing a bat looped with razor wire.

Primark removed the white men's top after a customer accused them of racism but now fans of the ths show have taken to social media to vent their fury at the decision.

Twitter user @AdamCJMcClean posted a picture of the t-shirt writing: "If you find this t shirt 'racist' you're part of the problem."

Gareth Puzy remarked: "@Primark why pull the t-shirt? "Fanatically racist"? Come off it! Someone needs to get off their soap box #WalkingDead @WalkingDead_AMC"

Paul Eaton commented: "@Primark If the walking dead T-Shirt is racist then Jingle Bells is offensive as Batman told me he does not smell & Robin did not lay a egg"

On Facebook the decision was greeted with equal contempt with users branding the decision "f***ing pathetic".

John Hunter commented: "Ah imagine a time where people weren't offended by Tshirts and baseball bats."

Primark was been forced to remove "racist" t-shirts from its stores after shoppers complained about the phrase, "eeny meeny miny moe" used on The Walking Dead branded clothing.

The slogan used in the final episode of the sixth series of the American horror drama about zombies was written on a white men's t-shirt with a picture of a bloodied baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire.

Shopper Ian Lucraft lodged a formal complaint about the "explicit" message after spotting it in a branch in Sheffield.

He told The Sheffield Star: “It was fantastically offensive and I can only assume that no-one in the process of ordering it knew what they were doing or were aware of its subliminal messages.

“The slogan is “Eeeny meenie miny moe…..”

"It stops there, but of course we all know what the original said: “catch a n***** by his toe.”
“The graphic has a large American baseball bat, wrapped round with barbed wire, and covered with blood.

"This image relates directly to the practice of assaulting black people in America. “It is directly threatening of a racist assault, and if I were black and were faced by a wearer I would know just where I stood.”

"Eeny meeny miny moe" is a popular children's counting rhyme used in games of tag, which dates back to 1820.

Primark chiefs have now apologised and removed the product from all of its stores.

Primark bosses have apologised for any upset caused and removed the stock from stores
It's after they received a scathing letter from Mr Lucraft, which read: “I assume that with some past incidents that I see have happened with Primark goods, you are anxious to prevent further bad publicity, and do not want to offend other shoppers.

“I can see that your website is strong on corporate responsibility so I hope you will take this t-shirt off sale immediately.”

A spokesman for Primark said: “The t-shirt in question is licensed merchandise for the U.S. television series, The Walking Dead, and the quote and image are taken directly from the show.

Any offence caused by its design was wholly unintentional and Primark sincerely apologises for this.

Jase you're a star saving people from sullying themselves by visiting their site. Alas I didn't see your post until it was too late and had to suffer temporary nausea.

The Scum rabble rousing again. They need to relax a bit, they've got Brexit, a right wing government and Trump, they should be as happy as a pig in shit.

There are always going to be these sad PC loving twats whom will try their damndest to find a way to be offended by anything and everything.

It's a quote from a TV show (aswell as the baseball bat), and a well known nursery rhyme. The only reason why the whole race element is brought into it is because the 'said' offended prat has no clue what the TV show is, and automatically jumped to the conclusion that it's an attack on black people with a bloodied baseball bat.

I was speaking to (don't know why I have to feel I need to mention his ethnicity) a black friend at work today about this. He finds it hilarious that certain white people get offended by things such as this whilst much of the black community really couldn't give a shit.

What a world we live in.

White people are the first to call racist in any situation in my experience, when half of the time the party who should apparently be offended isn't in the slightest.

See, for example, this recent pewdiepie thing if anyone else has seen that load of shite...

I could understand a little more if The Walking Dead was less popular. The context is shared by almost everyone though, and even if you hadn't seen it you still wouldn't jump to conclusions.

Perhaps if you were wearing the t-shirt along with a pair of trousers with the Confederate flag printed on them then it would be offensive. And not just because your trousers were bright red.

The moral of the story seems to be people who have no clue what they are talking about trying to find a way to be offended by something that is totally irrelevant in a form of attention seeking to get their 15 minutes of fame.

Next.

Woooo, calm down mate. I wasn't referring to you specifically. Just saying that a lot of people begin sentences with 'I'm not racist, I've got black friends', or the one I mentioned and then proceed to say something racist. Methinks you protest too much. I actually agree with Stringy's view.
The Scum like to single out ridiculous examples like this and use allegory to vilify 'The PC brigade'.

I don't understand this idea that only a target group is allowed to be offended. If I hear or see a person being abused because of race, disability or whatever, I'm offended as a human being. If you don't challenge abuse you allow abusers to think its legitimate. Would you sit in the pub and listen to an acquaintance's diatribe of racist jokes?

That was not my point. My point was more the getting offended on the behalf of others who are not offended. It happens more and more often, as stated with this Pewdiepie thing with the jews (no antisemitism actually happened, but there we are), and this situation. There are MANY more examples, however these are the two that immediately come to mind.

If a white person calls their black friend their 'n****r', but is not said in an offensive way, and their black friend doesn't give a shite/sees it as affectionate (in the same way you'd call any other mate a cvnt), should/would you be offended?

This is a problem with some black people, they have no understanding of the N word other than the context it is used in some rap music, When they say they're reclaiming the word they're talking bollocks because it never was their word to reclaim, it was a slavers word. The fact is Jase, most black and white people are offended by that word, it's just a few wannabe homies who think it's ok to be called it. For some it's a badge of honour, which is a bit sad really.

I'll always challenge racism regardless of whether or not some Uncle Tom feels offended or not.

I get that, but is a word hurtful if it isn't used in a hurtful manner?

Is there an inoffensive way to call someone a 'nigger'?

It's not really a good comparison. People don't discriminate on the grounds of race etc when they call someone a c***.

Is there an inoffensive way to call someone a cvnt? We still do it to our mates. :dk:

Context does matter. But the context isn't just your mates. It's the transatlantic slave trade and the legacy of discrimination since slavery ended. Watch Roots or any film on slavery - you'll see that the term is loaded and could be offensive. 'Cvnt' was never used to reinforce an abhorrent, dehumanising and exploitative practice.

I think you should be allowed to call your mates what you like. Personally, I'm not offended. How could I be? I'm white and English. I've never experienced discrimination. However, lots of people do. If you called it your mate in public there could be someone that it upsets and that's why you should choose not to use it, in my opinion.

Are there any other arguments in favour of using the word than reclaiming it?
