If you look at last season Doncaster looked odds on to win the title but had a slump whereas Portsmouth who were behind us at one stage put together an impressive run of result to not only secure promotion but win the league. So it can be done. I'm sure I remember Mansfield having a terrific end of season run in the conference to secure promotion. In fact I'm expecting one team to make a move. Our position looks healthy and as you pointed out we now have a full fit squad to choose from who have also had a mini break and should be raring to go. I'll still take promotion on the last day if thats what it takes. Getting out of this league is far more important than winning it. Looking at the table it looks like its going to be a close run thing. I wouldn't rule out anyone from Coventry upwards. All are capable of being in the mix. If we don't manage to get promoted though it would be a massive failure bearing in mind we have been top for such a long time. I'd much rather think postive and look at the stats. I can't see us losing or drawing over half our remaining games. The 5 or 6 wins required should be possible and thats not counting the draws we achieve.
Win on Saturday and we can drop points in almost every single remaining game and still get promoted.

You would put this up now, now we are falling down. We have to win the next 3 period!

Bit disappointed we haven't put the pedal to the floor in the last six weeks and put real daylight between us and fourth. Too many slip ups. Lets not get carried away yet - it's not beyond us to drop a couple of losses on the trot and ramp up the pressure.

Playoffs at best for us now, I reckon. Our away form is dreadful and we are picking up a few injuries, something we had never really done under the Cowleys. With those and the new players coming in during the window we don't have a settled lineup and the new signings haven't really got 'on method' yet.

'On method' being hoofing it up to Rhead?

I meant more the pressing and in particular the wingers tracking back and working their nuts off.

Just done this on the Fishy Predictor, not bothered with changing goal difference.

As we lose to nearly every lower placed team especially in the bottom 6/7 and we do very well against the top placed teams I'm overjoyed that we look on paper to have a very difficult run in.
The harder the better for us.
If we had to play FGR and Barnet et al again, we wouldn't stand a chance

It’s more random than form, it had us in the top 3 3/5 times and Luton dropped out altogether once!
Also had Crewe and Grimsby going down on one run.

I think you're right as I'm sure Grimsby were 23rd the first time I did it. Also at the top of the table as it had Wycombe to win the title, second time was Luton and now it's showing Wycombe again :dk:

Vanni, I’ve got a renewed sense of optimism post-Derry.

We’re going to win 10+ of our last 12, nab the final play off place where we’ll face a Luton side who have collapsed horribly in the play off semi finals. We’ll flukily win over two legs then get through to the final where we’ll get stuffed 4-0 by Accrington in front of 30,000 U’s fans and about 3,000 Accrington fans.

Good to see you all picking us for the play offs. I'll take that from here! Bit of a discussion on Exeweb about whether we would want to go into them.
It's a stupid question iMO. Yes we lost out last season and didn't turn up at Wembley, but you have to give yourselves a chance.
It is going to be a pretty bumpy ride from here though..

You always take play offs or promotion regardless of how/when it comes - might not get another chance next season.

Me too.

I'm secretly relishing all these 6 pointers coming up whilst hedging my bets and trying to avoid jinxing us by predicting defeats right left and centre.

There's no way we'll ever beat Lu'on or get anything at Accrington or Wycombe. :2thumb:

Our record against Luton and Wycombe since coming back up has been dreadful (1 league win v Wycombe and 1 cup win v Luton I think), while only Will Norris has set the world alight for us against Accrington.

But in this post-Derry (post-truth?) world we now exist in, anything is possible. We’ll win all 3 and send 2,403 Luton fans packing on 3rd March. :-D

Yes, always good games and a bit of exposure for the club. Plus we won't have to trek up to Carlisle if we get there, hope it's Swindon or Coventry rather than Accrington...

Think 90 points will be required just for automatic promotion this year. Seems pretty high?

Notts County won’t finish in top 7. No chance, squad full of poor journeymen.

Quite fancy Yeovil to finish in top 7. On good run of form and have top manager in Johnson, knows how to get out of this league

Not sure how that can be a debate. If you don't want to get in the play-offs as a lower league football fan, then there isn't much point in supporting a team really. It's one of the few games that genuinely have something riding on them.
