To put my opinion of this in perspective, Prince for me is a bigger loss to music than Michael Jackson. Amazingly talented song writer and multi instrumentalist. I can't understand how anyone could call him overrated.

RIP sad loss.
I was never a massive fan, did some stuff I loved and other stuff a bit too "experimental" which roughly translated to wierd. A lot of my mates were huge fans and I get why, he is a huge loss to the music industry and was an innovator as well as being a very talented singer, songwriter and musician.

The only thing I remember Prince for is not a good thing at all . He played a cover of Radiohead's Creep at a festival but didn't want anyone to post videos of the song on Youtube. He then did the same when he covered Crazy Woman, Dirty Train by These Arms are Snakes.

So it was ok for him to flesh out his sets with songs written by other artists, but it's wasn't ok for you and me to put up videos of said songs on Youtube. Arsehole.

So many great videos of him online, he could do it all. Sad loss at such a relatively young age.

It certainly wasn't respect, as both bands later said he couldn't stop people from uploading videos when the songs he covered weren't his in the first place. I used to respect him even though I was never a fan, but he lost all the credibility he had with a lot of music fans after this little incident.
