Well the cobblers finally saw the light and got rid of the totally boring and negative Page.
We told you so ........

We finally got our first win of the year and deservedly so on Saturday.
Would take a point from this one , been leading in 3 of our last 4 aways and crumbled.
Any away game is difficult and Cobblers seem to of picked up slightly bar that last minute goal v Oldham ( thanks lads ) .

Will plump for 2-1 ( 381 Vale ) and hope that we can get back to winning ways against our 6 fingered friends from Shropshire on Friday .

Point would be decent heading into the next two... three points and we will really fancy the great escape. Hopefully the confidence from Saturday and our improved performances of late will see us push on in this game.

1-1 Hoops

Delighted Page has gone now. I tried to back him when he was here but his style was unbelievably negative and it was time for him to go otherwise I have no doubt we would be in and around the bottom 4 now.

I was at the game at Vale Park where both teams created chances aplenty. We tend to score in most games, certainly at home. Fancy us to win 3-1 tomorrow. JJ Hooper to miss an open goal early doors.

So did they

By the looks of his second goal on Saturday he's turned into fucking Ronaldo! Sure he'll have a point to prove tomorrow as he was shit first time we had him and still shit the second time. Reckon we can nick a win here and get clear of relegation worries for good.

He just never seemed to use his physical advantages. Mind you we did play him out wide (I assume where he is now playing for you) and he really struggled to get involved. For the first time in ages we looked more solid at the back against Wimbledon.

Not that any other team would particularly care but our LB David Buchanan is about to play his 100th consecutive game for us. Since signing at the beginning of last season he hasnt missed a game. In fact the only minutes he missed out on were 45 mins through injury but he was back in time for the next one. Something I would assume rarely happens these days with players getting rested and rotated so much. Love that guy, a proper leader on the pitch.

Could do with a point from this one
1-1 with either Eagles or Hooper scoring

Hooper has been out wide but I believe (missed the last two) has been given license to roam a bit and use his pace.

He is the type of player that if we do go down would probably really hit it off in league two in fairness.

Lord jord he was pretty much a left back in the first half he was so deep.
I'd of offered 100/1 on him getting a brace, i think he is still very very raw, maybe not even played 50 FL Games yet ?
If he is played as a striker he is maybe going to be ok, but out wide he is not for me.
Fair play to Buchanan , makes a nice change to read proper players who actually give a damn instead of chasing the coin. How is Marc Richards ?? :conf:

Still a dependable (other than from penalties) player and character. Should end up on between 10 to 15 goals this season which is solid enough. Still a clever footballer but starting to show his age a bit more.

As long as you keep the office girls locked up i,m sure he will continue to ' score' .
Joking apart was gutted when he left , don't so much mind him now but couldn't abide him at Chesterfield, seemed to become a knob once he went there.

Where you getting 381 vale fans from be lucky if theres 150 there. As for the game any draw away from home is good for vale as we usually lose. Be nice if we could keep a clean sheet but i doubt that will happen.

Nathan Smith is the same. Played every minute bar one game.

We need to start putting together a run to boost confidence, however I'm concerned that we're really down to the bare bones. We've got a pretty poor squad to start with but with players out injured it makes it even worse.

Northampton seem to have been very up and down but have had a pretty good run recently. There's definite quality in their squad and I'm surprised that they're not higher up the league really. Always seem pretty strong at home, but I believe that they've lost 8, so we have a chance.

Need to show the same commitment and work rate as Saturday and I'm sure that will help us considerably in the run-in. Northampton are realistically safe, so may take their foot off the gas a little.

I still think we might get beat narrowly but our next two games are more crucial against Shrewsbury and Coventry.

Think if we win this tonight then we are nearly safe. Let's hope the decent cobblers turn up tonight as our last Tuesday night game a couple of weeks ago didn't go too well against Oldham

Sounds a poor half from us. Probably missing Pugh away from home to break up the play. Worry we are jaded from the effort Saturday with all the injuries, need to go up the gears second half if we are to take anything.

Sounds like we are riding our luck a fair bit but scoreless at half time. Will take that.

At least you can't fault the effort from this team, the ability of it is another matter but at least they are trying.

Not easy with the games we are to be playing literally every three days with the squad as decimated with injuries either. Could be the difference come May.

Results going our way apart from Oldham. I'll be happy with a point if we get one.

True enough, it can work the other way also. The season we won the LDV Trophy under Horton we had a stupid amount of fixtures at the back end of the season but the team managed to build up some momentum and kept it going. I doubt this will be the case this time but so long as they give it their all I certainly won't hold it against the players. The chairman is a different story but that's for another time.

Another fucking late goal, it's ridiculous how many we've let in this season. Apparently Fasan went to sleep a bit and it's cost the game.

Fluke and a stunner late on which costs us. Gutting and the table looks bleak again with other results

Northampton - 1
Swindon - 0
Southend - 2
Gillingham - 2

In recent weeks we've lost 5 points in the last few minutes.

It's hard to know how to fix it. At this point it's happened so often there has to be a mental block with these players regarding it. Even the Swindon game we pretty much did all we could to keep them in it until the end.

Could say Friday is must win but I think it's beyond that now. A team with our away record is not going to get themselves out of trouble.

We should have been in the lead at half time and second half Vale played well without really creating anything. Deserved win through Taylor's stunner, keeper left a lot of the goal open and with Taylor's quality he doesn't really need a second invitation. Think we are safe now, although we've got a run of tough games coming up now which makes our last 3 wins on the spin all the more crucial.

Also, bloody knew Hooper was going to score as well.
