Anyone arsed?

Think we've got a really good chance on home soil. See what tonights opener v Fiji brings but I see us starting slow but winning comfortably. Tough group though..not sure if that is a bad thing or not.

I'll be watching it, cheering on England and shouting about the rules as if I actually understood them.

I'll be watching as well. Supporting Canada for this, tough group and they won't make it out but its one of the few sports where we are better than the USA. I won't pretend I am an expert on rugby because I'm not but Canada almost eliminated the US from the World Cup qualifiers, where we beat them twice.

Only team in the America's who are any good are Argentina, but they aren't good enough to win it. Reckon it will be Kiwi's.

I get that, but at home I would expect us to look to attack this world cup. If we can shut out the Fijian's (under 10 points or no try) then yeah the 4 try bonus points would then do it as a statement but being honest I don't expect to shut them out. Normally I would still expect us to put 35 points on, hence 50 as a statement.

Group of death for us, coupled with injuries to Halfpenny and Webb we'll struggle to beat England and Aussies to get out of this group. So with that in mind i'll settle for us beating England and handing them a tricky QF draw :D

Standard Welsh response being more pre occupied with England, forever in our shadow...

Well if we had our best players fit i'd say we'd win the group and you'd be out :ohy:

At least you guys have a ready made excuse this time and don't need to blame a red card :hypo:

I quite like the Rugby World Cup. Always enjoy watching the Pacific Island teams.

Decent first half to watch, that. Fiji have acquitted themselves quite well. Especially considering they were down to 14 for a spell.

I have a bet on England to win by 11-20. Judging by that first half I think it has a good chance of coming in.

Yup there is that :bg1:

Plus is it just me or has there been far too much TMO already?

Being honest I don't mind it in those situations, the ball's dead. As seen the ref would have given the try when he didn't have control so good use imo.

2 tries is the minimum this half for the bonus point.

Not the most convincing of starts but that bonus point late on might be vital.

Bonus point only matters if we don't beat Australia and Wales. Superior fitness told in the end.

We got a bit of help from the refs there, but I'll take the bonus point win!

A pretty uninspiring first game but credit to Fiji, they played well in places. The size of the win flattered us but never mind.

It was always a potential banana skin this game.

Only good thing about it is the national anthem full of passion, pride, emotion and genuinely means something it was absolutely superb tonight. Turned it off after 3 mins in awful fucking sport. Obviously hope they win though and do the country proud again.

Are we talking about the Fijian national anthem? The 'English' one was the same dirge it always is.

The english one was the most passionate iv ever seen it sung before by a set of players it was extremely loud in the stands too.

There were a lot of mistakes from both sides last night, and I think England could count themselves a bit lucky to get the bonus point and comfortable victory. First game nerves? Who knows. The scrum needs to perform much better against Wales though.

The Wales - Fiji game will be closer I feel, Fiji will have been targeting the game for a long time having beaten us before.

Anyone catch the Georgia Tonga game? It's a shame there won't be many games played at proper rugby grounds...France - Romania at the Olympic stadium anyone? Eugh.

I liked Canada's performance. We got battered and its not a surprise, but we attacked pretty well. Our defence let us down massively. We were also massively beaten in Strength.

Ireland are contenders, definitely. Still think New Zealand will win it though.

Japan looking very good here against SA, just drawn level. Upset could be on the cards...
