I saw a flare being lit just after the Russians got a goal back. Have they contravened the warning given by UEFA after the England match? Thoughts? I'm assuming a flare could be construed as a firework?
Quote: (My bold).
The independent UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) met today in Paris to deal with the disciplinary proceedings opened against the Russian Football Union (RFS) following the incidents which occurred inside the Stade Velodrome in Marseille at the UEFA EURO 2016 match against England on 11 June (1-1).
Charges relating to crowd disturbances, use of fireworks and racist behaviour had been brought against the RFS, and the CEDB decided to impose the following sanctions:
• A fine of €150,000.
• A suspended disqualification of the Russian national team from UEFA EURO 2016 for the crowd disturbances. In accordance with Article 20 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations*, this disqualification is suspended until the end of the tournament. Such a suspension will be lifted if incidents of a similar nature (crowd disturbances) happen inside the stadium at any of the remaining matches of the Russian team during the tournament.
The decision of the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body is open to appeal.
This decision only relates to the incidents which occurred inside the stadium and are therefore under the jurisdiction of the UEFA Disciplinary Bodies.
*Article 20 UEFA Disciplinary Regulations
1. All disciplinary measures may be suspended, with the exception of:
a. warnings;
b. reprimands;
c. bans on all football-related activities;
d. disciplinary measures related to match-fixing, bribery and corruption.
2. The probationary period must be a minimum of one year and a maximum of five. This period may be extended in exceptional circumstances.
3. If a further offence is committed during the probationary period, the competent disciplinary body, as a rule, orders that the original disciplinary measure be enforced. This may be added to the disciplinary measure imposed for the new offence.

Then a wonder goal by Hamsik (which is surely one of the best goals so far but in a way it was also lucky as it came just on the stroke of ht).
In what way is that lucky?

Russia are just a bit crap aren't they? Genuinely thought they'd be coming through this group in the top 2 but their defence is shocking and there forward players have been crap. After a poor result against Wales it was important for Slovakia to get the win here and they were impressive in doing so, it's so clear that is Hamsik turns up they perform. This throws this group wide open now and makes the England V Wales result huge.

Don't get me wrong, it was a perfectly good goal and a world class one at that. Thing is Slovakia weren't exactly piling on the pressure at that time, it was only their second meaningful attack after all, so to score with practically the last kick of the half is a tad lucky in my book.

I said the same when the club I follow scored a goal at roughly the same time last season, after a very average first half display. Sometimes luck's on your side, sometimes not.

When I first saw the group, I thought they were going to make the last 16. I changed my mind after a guy I know, whose knowledge of European footy is far greater than mine, told me they weren't going to trouble the other sides due to missing two very important regular starters (both midfielders I think). Looks like he was right.

Dzagoev and Denisov are the injured Russians. I'm sure they would have made a difference, but they don't look especially strong in defence or attack either. Saying that, they'll go and beat Wales next week now.

Are people seriously suggesting that scoring a goal right before half-time is lucky, just because of the timing? ffs

Nothing lucky about the Hamsik goal, that's absolute quality. Goal of the tournament so far for me.
