Shoutbox: Enable/Disable Option Added

Ladies & Gents,

I've added some code to allow users to toggle the Shoutbox on/off depending on their preference for seeing it appear on the homepage. To change this setting, simply navigate to your Preferences (click me) and check the option box for the Shoutbox.

Furthermore, new registrations on signup will be asked whether they wish to enable or disable the shoutbox.
They'll be prompted too, with a warning of: "(Warning: Sometimes contains offensive content)."

See the attached image for a visual explanation of the feature.

I imagine this will solve the issue in it's entirety for most (if not all) members, but I've included a two way poll in this thread for default placement (top or bottom) - based on the changes I've just made for user selection.

Meadow, I've just tried on a mobile device and it's worked. Once you check the box, be sure to hit save and then do a hard refresh of the homepage. If that still doesn't work, lemme know.

I won't switch it off as I like to drop in now and again but great work in listening to everyone and coming up with a good solution.

If it can be hidden staying at the top should be fine.

Worth mentioning that even if you switch it off, you can still access it by clicking "Shoutbox" which appears in the navigation menu at the top of the page.

Meadow, I've just tried on a mobile device and it's worked. Once you check the box, be sure to hit save and then do a hard refresh of the homepage. If that still doesn't work, lemme know.

I unchecked the box, saved, went back in, checked the box again, refreshed the front page and it's still there. Looks like I might have clear my history etc.

Are you on the old skin by any chance? It doesn't work for me on that either but the new skin hides it just fine. Will look into it.

Aha!!!! There's your answer. I reverted to the old skin because I prefer it. Shoutbox doesn't appear if I use the new skin.

There isn't any reason why it shouldn't work on both, so I'll tentatively say it will be fixed within a day or two.

You can revert back, it's fixed! Note to self; it would help if I apply code to both skins if we're going to allow users to toggle between the two.
