Well and truly in the relegation dogfight now, 4 defeats in the last 5, Sunday league defending, no strikers and a manager with more chat than actual managerial ability.
Just back, what an absolute ripsnorter of a match. On another day it could've finished 8-8. Novak was clean through after about 10 seconds and it sort of set the tone. Salop were doing well having taken the lead (Dodds), until the howitzer equaliser. We then seemed to stand off and Charlton deservedly went in at half time 2-1 up, Holmes with both goals. In the second half Salop played much better and 2 quick goals from Roberts and Whalley made it 3-2. Holmes then equalised again, slightly against the run of play, before Dodds bagged the winner after some good advantage play from the referee.
Now Charlton. First of all, the good. It has to be said that your hat-trick star Holmes is a class above. The first goal was a long range top corner special, the second was a free kick expertly curled in from 20 yards and the third was clinically slotted into the bottom corner after Salop should've cleared. Hats off to you sir. Your number 9, Magennis dominated up front. I was glad when he was subbed. Now the bad. I thought your centre backs, especially the number 50, lacked pace and our forwards Roberts and Humphrys ran them ragged in the second half. Also, there didn't really seem to be a Plan 'B'... After Magennis was subbed there was no real threat up front and a lack of ideas which meant we saw out the game with minimal fuss. I don't think you're relegation fodder but the form must obviously improve or you'll be quickly dragged into the mix.
