We have just cleared the firewall which had amassed over 300 banned IP's.
It seems as though recent changes have resulted in the firewall identifying false positives- most likely from genuine users who scroll through pages quickly and/or have multiple tabs/threads open at once.
We've made further adjustments overnight to hopefully resolve this.
