Just to further explain the gravity of the situation, I can not "like" posts either. I'm sure you are aware how this will adversely affect the good members of this forum and I would appreciate a solution.
what atrocious management to let award winning member steven go over four hours without these vital features. an acknowledgement that management has at least seen his complaints would be nice, but ofc they don't care
Problems only in one browser and not another? That's....quirky.
I will check it out when I'm back on a PC tomorrow with a range of browsers and a better view of the site admin tools. Can't poke around much on a phone.
Bear with me for now! Thanks for raising the issue.
So your permissions on the site are fine, clearly because another browser works ok.
I playing around with Chrome I've been able to break some of the sites functionality by intentionally disabled javascript and cookies, it could be you've got some odd setting there, or perhaps a Chrome extention that is causing trouble. I could suggest you reset Chrome to it's defaults, but bear in mind it'll reset your home page. Your saved bookmarks and passwords will not be cleared or changed though. It will remove any odd extensions and will put all the settings back to their normal values, which is what I'm aiming at.
You'd do this by going into settings, clicking advanced settings, scroll down to the bottom and hit the reset button.
Started around Thursday. Quotes don't work, the notifications show the number at the top but won't load, can't like posts, can't delete posts, can't edit posts, can't use the shoutbox. Pretty much can post and read messages and that is about all.
I'm guessing Chrome has updated itself recently then - if you go to settings and 'about' it'll show you the version number. the latest version is 48.0.2564.103.
And something in there isn't happy with those functions, most of which involve javascript.
As above I'd probably suggest a reset of Chrome settings which you do in the settings - advanced settings - reset.
Weirdly, using Chrome 48.0.2564.103 myself, the site works ok by default. I have to intentionally go into the settings and start nobbling javascript in order to replicate the shoutbox and like problems.
