It's a lovely little ground now as well. I popped there a few weeks back because my cousin's son plays for their BTEC team, and I was quite impressed.

But where's your evidence that crowds will increase. As Greenacres said, there appears to be 6,000 or so regular football attendees in the county. Save for the initial interest of seeing a new stadium, and attendances being boosted by those "doing the 92", you have provided literally no evidence to support your assertion that they will "undoubtedly" increase.

Regarding Brimscombe and Thrupp, I watched them play Bishop's Cleeve in September. It was a lovely day out, cans sold from a fridge outside the bar, and some lovely scenery. I highly recommend a visit.View attachment 13532
Shame the bar wasn't open for you, it's a tidy little clubhouse with decent beers on. I can cut down from my folks through a green lane over the hill behind and across the canal, so it's always a great place for a summer friendly for me. Have even been to watch a few of their league games.

The clubhouse was open, but not for drinking, which was a shame. Will definitely pop back at some time in the future, was made to feel very welcome.

Not at all. I've spent many a good day and night in Lancashire. Nothing wrong with the place and I like the dark dank style of the towns, there's a certain romanticism about it. However Kendal is not like Lancashire in its nature and I wanted to correct that statement.

Certainly some bony places around Bolton, though I no longer live there (live much nearer Kendal funnily enough).
Definitely worse places to live if you’re a fan of the countryside.

I have been to B&T for a pre-season friendly and wholeheartedly agree with that comment, fantastic view of the pitch from the top of the slope, but would be a bit worried about flooding in the depths of winter. Bishop's Cleeve also akes some beating, went there to watch an FA Cup Qualifying game some years ago

My favourite non-league ground in this area is Shortwood...not just because you can see a corner of our ground high above the valley...but because it is such a lovely setting to watch a football match, with the trees around the ground it doesn't feel like you are in England, more somewhere like the Ardennes or Luxembourg.

Good point, but by same token you cannot disprove that assertion either.
The new stadium will be a lot closer to many more towns than at present. That is why I confident there will be more regular fans.
I expect the first year we will have a higher average attendance but 2nd year attendances will level out.
But fret not, Cheltenham and FGR's core support are from different parts of the County and success for one will not diminish support for other.

What a pity Brimscombe & Thrupp are about to exit the FA Vase this weekend. Come on Bridgy.
Town beat them on penalties yesterday --Great win.

"A far more built up location". Its next to the M5. If I lived in Gloucester I still wouldn't support them.
Dale Vince = Max Griggs.
I have no idea whether the new ground will attract more locals, but I suspect if parking is sorted it will make it easier for away fans to get there, and more importantly get away.

Walked up to the mast and spent many Good Fridays up Rivington Pike
Where else in this great land of ours can you see The Welsh hills the Fylde coast, Cheshire plains, Derbyshire Dales and the Lake District from the same spot

So many ways I could come back on that but I don't fancy derailing another thread.

FGR were a consistent presence in the National league (as it is now called) before Vince came along.

Having said that, I'd be careful about expecting a new stadium/location to attract more fans. Colchester, I believe, had a bounce and have dropped back and it can have an impact on finances if a thriving clubhouse suddenly loses all its customers (which happened to us). One problem is access to free parking. If you've had it and suddenly have to pay for it....!

Not saying any of that will happen just pointing out that a new stadium doesn't solve all the problems.

Any new ground Tranmere Rovers might move to would be in the dock area with easy access to the M53 motorway and Mersey road tunnels. A railway station will also be close. Easy to get to for anybody and in Birkenhead, not Heswall. Hopefully with a £1m pitch that lasts longer than 4 months with grass.

Rob, I didn't know you had plans for a move.

The move Crawley made from Town Mead to the Broadfield stadium was definitely worth it for Crawley and can be a real god send to the finances of the club but its always worth looking at the mistakes others have made (not to sneer but to learn from)

We put our clubhouse bar at the back of the stadium. Great for the residents nearby but it meant it had no passing trade during the times we were away from home etc. Over time the patrons from the old catchment area decided it was too far to travel for a mid week beer and stopped going and possible funds pretty much dried up. There's bound to be more to that story but it is a lesson to be learned.
