Well nobody else was creating it and the games have already started! We've got a couple of SL club fans on here I believe, and having the thread around can encourage more to join hopefully. I'd like to see the lower levels better represented on here outside of the Isthmian!

So come here for all you discussion on if Hayes & Yeading can bounce back, if Kettering will continue to spend one of the larger budgets in the division only to miss out at the end of the season. Talk about if the premier division has been weakened by promoting Cinderford and having Corby transferred back north (and if that's a good thing for the club of your choice?...)

In the lower divisions I'm sure there will be plenty of milage from Farnborough overspending when they have just gotten out of a CVA that got them relegated - Curtis Osano and Jamie Cureton among the players they've signed. Or will they get enough through the gate to justify the budget...? Division 1 central will be interesting with the likes of Chalfont St Peter to do their annual good start and drop off around christmas, Egham and Royston to be in the title race after missing out on the last day last season? Will newly promoted Kempston follow the trend of ex-UCL clubs doing well?

And of course, the most represented division in the Southern League on here? Div 1 S&W - come on Hereford fans, are you going to win the title in a league where the last title winners tried not to get promoted? Are Salisbury going to exact revenge for the FA Vase? Are Taunton going take advantage while the two of you focus on each other?

n.b. Worth mentioning that the southern league have moved their website here: http://www.evostikleaguesouthern.co.uk/ (because putting sponsors branding in the URL is great for when the deal runs out...)

Hayes & Yeading play their first game back at theit new ground on Wednesday. Chuffed for them... it gives me hope that Kingstonian are not doomed when we head in to exile next season.

Why has this league started a week earlier than the other two? Up north our step 3/4 clubs were still playing friendlies on Saturday.

No idea! League decided they wanted to, so they did I guess. It makes sense to reduce the number of midweek games though, so I'm not sure why the other leagues didn't!

Probably because the Southern League is overall the most geographically disproportionate of the three feeder leagues, so having that extra week for a saturday game helps the further away opponents by not having to go 300 miles midweek as much.

I'm not sure it is any more spread than the Northern League really. Cutting down a midweek game will also help with fixture congestion at the back end of the season after winter postponements. Certainly our travelling has gone up since going north.

I still cant get my head around why Kings Lynn are in the Southern League..

Surely they should still be in the Northern League??

Oh yeah maybe you a right... I forgot Truro are National League South these days. The one team that can double a league's average travel distance single handedly.

Haven't been online for a while, bar the prediction League. My Thanks to Jemfy for starting this thread.

We had our first competitive home game on Tuesday night and played really impressively against Hitchin looking to continue that tomorrow against Leamington-.

Now we have a ground we can start moving forward again rather than backwards. Obviously hope we do week this season, but I have a feeling we will have a decent start then lose momentum after Christmas time, like Chalfont St.Peter are known for doing..just that I hope we don't drop form as bad as they usually do!

Although, I do think we stand a much better chance of going up from the Southern League over the Isthmian.

Kettering clearly arent going for promotion if they are signing Anthony Howell. Got relegated from the Premier with us with his hands in his pockets most of the time. And he almost got relegated with Carlton Town from the Northern Premier Divison South last season!

History and the road network plays a part I'd imagine. Not too far from the A14 for the Midland trips and the A1 for access to the M25 and then M4.

We were poor yesterday not offering much in an attacking sense. Leamington had a very solid defence which didn't help us in any way.

The full time result was ...

Hayes and Yeading 0-1 Leamington

We now lay 16th in the table with 3 points

Next fixture
Tuesday 16th August
Away
Basingstoke Town

Just got my ticket through the door today for Monday's game away to Slough.

It's their official ground opening of Arbour Park.

It's interesting they've made this all ticket. Unless they're genuinely expecting a sellout or something I don't know. Either way I Am looking forward to it. I waited 5 years for our ground opening and now we're involved in 2 in 1 season. Ours and now Sloughs!

It's good to see yourselves and now Slough finally return home. The Rebels had sold over 1,100 tickets for Monday's game and with capacity being 1,400 - there's a strong possibility of a sell out.

It's great to see 2 local clubs return home after a long period of exile (even more so Slough). Just after the defeat to Dunstable last Saturday Slough and Hayes and Yeading announced the game had sold out completely.

What I like about Slough is that they marketed and advertised their big day well. Something we didn't do and a massive feature to why our attendance's are still struggling, although we are now at a lower level I would've thought the club would've done everything it could to get a strong fanbase.

As you may already know, we lost 2-1 to Slough on Saturday and our performance was worrying, in fact it gave me that sourtaste that I got last season on the day we just didn't turn up when we had the chance of survival, we were really really poor and struggled to actually keep the ball. It seemed our beast (Melford Simpson) had no point in being on the field through no fault of his own. The player just weren't getting the ball up to him so he could hold it, and they kept making him take throw ins....what logic is in that when we have someone with a decent throw already and could easily thrown it into the box for Melford to possibly score. Lloyd Macklin did score but also managed to miss a wide open goal. We now slip into the drop (22nd), not the first time I've said this in recent seasons! With just the 5 points.

Im really greatful we were put in this league after all, I think in the Ryman League we would be really struggling, that's with no offence to the Southern League of course as there are a few strong sides about this season in this league.

As for Slough, I can see them doing well this season. They've made some good signings and have started strongly. Certainly a team at least fighting for the play offs come season end.

FA Cup for us next week away to Sun Postal Sports.

To let Merthyr fans (if there are any on here?) know this game will be played at Silver Jubilee Park of Hendon FC

We have been advised to play the next few rounds of matches away from home with the location of this Saturday's game being the only one confirmed. I will post updates as to where we will be playing as and when they come.

Utter pisstaking the way this club treat our fans. Some of our fans have spent their own time and money recently coming up with advertisement posters. The fans got together to do this because when it was brought up to the chairman Tony O'Driscoll he told us fans "why the fuck would I do that I have enough to do as it is"...they were his exact words.

Right as I and all our fans thought we saw good to!es ahead we are quite literally chucked right back in a pile of shit

Rage over.

Can confirm next Tuesday's game will be at Beaconsfield SYCOB..closer to opponents Chesham than us.

Another disgraceful decision because people like myself and I know a few others who use public transport...it will be impossible to get home that night by bus or train and I refuse to pay cab prices (too pricy) or stay in a hotel, I have work the next day. Expecting quite a sour atmosphere at Hendon on Saturday would seem all fans truly pissed off and rightly so.

So we were at home today (or Hendon's Silver Jubilee Park) and were slaughtered quite literally. We lost 6-1 to Merthyr. Think the players were affected by what's gone on this week as we didn't turn up, as you can probably tell by the scoreline.
Merthyr couldve even had 3 or 4 more they just tore us to pieces.

Silver Jubilee is quite a nice little ground and quite picturesque aswell. Thanks to them for allowing us to play there today and good luck to them for the season ahead.

Onto Tuesday nights home game against Chesham (at Beaconsfield SYCOB). Us being the home team are travelling to this game a greater distance than the away team Chesham :eyes::dk::doh::whistle:

Wasnt at tonight's game but really Refreshing to see that result!

Hayes and Yeading 1-0 Chesham

2nd win in the league this season hopefully this can push us on for better things.

On to the FA Cup this coming Saturday at AFC Hayes' Farm Park where we play Worthing. Hopefully, fingers crossed, our last game out of our ground.

He played for a lot more clubs then that. Should have read "Former Chippenham, Swindon, Yeovil, Woking, Havant, FGR, Wycombe, Newport, Salisbury, Stevenage, Bath, Brackley and Gloucester striker Charlie Griffin has been appointed manager at Southern League Premier strugglers Cirencester Town, where he ended his career as a player."

If you're going to give out info, don't be so slapdash and half arsed about it.

Good player and top lad btw, hope he does well.

League Cup tonight

We have a local derby against Hanwell Town but being played in Beaconsfield! Ridiculous!

Currently no news on the ground (there hasn't been since we were kicked out)

We have signed Jamie Molyneux from local rivals Westfields(step 5), 12 goals in 15 for them and apparently is really really quick which is what we need. Solihull also put in 7 days for him, so pleased with this.
