There's a ton of choice around the ground, cheap but not great pubs but quite a few do show the football on in the area and it's close to the ground.

As for the game, I'm not arsed how this goes but I'm keen to see us try and maintain our wonderful form so Dave Artell can surpass the fraud in league victories earned this season despite only having half the time Davis had in charge. Gutted I can't be there but saving the pennies for the three aways this month instead.

If we win without conceding we equal a 79 year old record of consecutive wins without conceding a goal (four).

I can confirm the excellence of the Cafe/Chippie on Nantwich Road.

Only drawn to today's "entertainment" because it'll be the first visit to Gresty Road for a match. It has potential for major disappointment but I travel in hope of a reaction to the last week's stumblings. Whatever happens it looks like our striking options (starting and from the bench) will be a combination of recovering crocks and struggling triers.

There's probably enough pride and pashun to offer the chance of a win but a drubbing could trigger the start of a disintegration, as folk jockey for their end of season situations.

If still in the race we might have brought a few more but, after last week, 400 may be pushing it. 0-1 to U's with 387 travelling.

A heads up though...dunna bother with those SFC chicken goujon things-they're pretty awful.

We were a little below par and didn't really create much against a fairly solid and quite physical Cambridge side who nicked the three points courtesy of a very well-taken free kick when perhaps a draw looked the most likely outcome.
No real complaints from me...it's often about the small margins.

Two very similar sides, and I'm not even on about the game at all because we were poor and Cambridge were deserved winners.

I recall Cambridge fans moaning about how poor their team are at home yet they seem good enough away (usually) and that pretty much sums us up as well. We've been largely disappointing at home all season bar the 5-0 win vs Grimsby and our last home win vs Colchester was a solid performance against an injury-hit side. Even in our other home wins, we haven't looked particularly great in them but we took our chances at the best possible time. Away from home however, we're a different force and teams struggle to cope with us attacking them at full speed and they capitulate.

Artell is a fine man and I'm a huge fan but my only criticism of him is he needs to learn how to get it right at home. Away from home we've been fantastic but the football we play away doesn't work at home because most teams will set up tighter at home and we struggle to break them down.

Goals were crap and show why we still need a defensive overhaul at the club. First one needed to be cleared and we conceded another shit goal like that for the 2311130131th time and the second one was a needless foul by Nugent duly punished by Luke Berry.

All in all, we'll try to bounce back against in-form Accrington next week and I can see us ending their run given we're away from home...

Just as we were the ideal opposition for Stanley on Tuesday, Crewe were perfect for us today. Their midfield gave us enough room to play some nice stuff but were unable to create much against a hungry and up for it U's midfield and back 4. The difference was more than just the 2 very well taken Berry goals but we didn't create that much more threat. We were very (very) comfortable defending. No way was the Lewis red card a foul never mind a sending off from our side of the pitch. That said, one difference was that we dealt with the stream of poor decisions and non-decisions from the ref better than Crewe did. Overall, they looked pretty naive and we moaned and fell over more than we've done for some time.

As I've said elsewhere, after Tuesday's match:

"I'm more interested in the team dynamic going forwards, including the impact on saturday. We win together and we lose together. Harsh things needed to be said in the dressing room afterwards but we're back where we were pre-Newport - when the senior players and the team stepped up to get the intensity and performance out of the group as much if not more than the management team. I'm looking for the right reaction from Leon (who nearly got sent off for trying to lift the team with a bit of passion), Greg (who had a half decent game out of position) and others who had nearly as bad a night but will avoid individual criticism because O'Neil is the new focus.

If I don't see evidence of that on saturday, then I'll be more worried."

There were still O'Neil snipers in the crowd but the performance, especially from Liam O'Neil and Luke Berry, was what was needed. Greg was comfortable at centre back. More important, it was notable that the coaches pushed the team to come a bit closer to the travelling fans at the end and everyone was in the mix. Leon put his arm around Liam and pulled him to the front of the celebration and mutual appreciation.

We played very well yesterday and I'm glad that we were rewarded for a complete u-turn in policy from Tuesday in trying to take the game to Crewe from the start, deserved winners. Can't fault anybody really, even O'Neill had a really good game, with Bez looking back to his best behind Corr who battled really well despite clearly not being 100% fit, emphasising why we need to take a chance with him though.
