For when you decide to go to a game in the depths of Non League. Hellenic League, Central Midands League, North Counties East League etc

Cheers DSL, I will contribute to this at some stage. Biggleswade Town will probably be the first port of call as I've been meaning to tick that ground off for a while now.

The Hive on Saturday was my 158th ground but I usually only go to see Grimsby games. Of those 158 there are only 5 grounds that I have been to where I haven't seen The Mariners.

Old Trafford and The Etihad (both England), White Hart Lane (Spurs v Man Utd on the Saturday after we'd won at Southend on the Friday night), and The Bescott, Walsall and Chesterfield's new ground, (both against Exeter).

So, although I do try to get to as many new grounds as I can it's usually only to follow Grimsby.

I think I've been to 103 grounds or something like that. Not too bad at the age of 19.

Majority supporting the Fleet, but like to get to other matches when we are not playing if other commitments allow me to. Once went to 76 games in a season.

Biggleswade Town 1-2 Poole Town (Att: 132)

If Poole do win the Southern Prem, then unless they make significant changes they will be eaten alive in the Conference South. Fairly well organised and their two centre halves were huge but any team with a bit of speed and movement up front will cause them fits as countless times they would follow the runner and not the man on the ball, really strange. Full backs weren't much cop either but Biggleswade offered absolutely nothing down either flanks.

Can't say Poole didn't deserve the victory, they forced Biggleswade's keeper into several good saves and the ball was cleared off the line twice. Tidy set-up in Eastern Bedfordshire and kudos to the 14 (headcount) Poole supporters who made the long journey up.

Been on this a bit of late. Did AFC Darwen v Camell Laird last Saturday (2-1), Blackpool Wren Rovers v Vickerstown (4-1) today and hoping to do Clitheroe v Spenymoor Town on Tuesday.

Who? Never heard of them? Where do they play?

Which? Wren Rovers, or Vickerstown?

Both are in the West Lancs Prem, probably one below the North West Counties first division I would assume.

Wren Rovers are obviously Blackpool based, Vickerstown are from Barrow way in Cumbria.

Went to Nelson v Colne last Friday to see Colne win 3-1 in the pendle derby. A big crowd of about 450 for that level.

I went to that ground in December, the main stand is in a very poor state considering it was built in the 1980s. I hope Worthing have managed to sort out their financial issues. For a town of that size their football team should be at least one level higher.

Indeed, the stand seems to be held together by rust. But the future is looking brighter, they now have some financial backing, thank goodness.

By coincidence I was also at this game yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially as after a ticket and pint i still had change from a tenner!

A decent little ground with a very tidy stand down one side and a nice (cheap!) bar. Bamber Bridge (boasting former football league stalwart Paul McKenna) ran out comfortable winners in the end against a hardworking Ossett Albion side supported by 8 very loud (and most likely very drunk) travelling fans. Bamber Bridge played some excellent football - their 3rd goal in particular worthy of a higher level.

Final Score - Bamber Bridge 3 - 1 Ossett Albion. Att- 234

Bumping this as I'm heading to Royston on Tuesday night to cheer on local side Barton Rovers in their play-off semi final. Another new ground to tick off.

Royston Town 0-0 Barton Rovers *Barton win 5-4 on penalties* (Att: 457)

Should add a disclaimer before this brief report that Barton Rovers are my local side, a 10 minute drive from my house.

Tale of two halves really, Barton were well in the ascendancy in the first half and Royston had a couple of excellent chances to score in the 2nd half. Royston were reduced to 10 men just before HT for a disgusting two footed tackle from their #4 which led to a mass brawl by the dugouts and in the aftermath Barton's #4 was sent packing after picking up a 2nd yellow.

The first half of ET was a total bore-fest but both teams had glorious chances to win it in the 2nd half of ET; Barton's chance was a 3 yard scrambled shot somehow going wide whilst Royston were denied one-on-one thanks to one of several excellent stops made by Barton's keeper.

The 30 or so Barton supporters who went (me and my old man included) were rewarded with 5 excellent spot kicks before the Barton GK saved Royston's 5th effort. Onto Bedworth on Monday to determine who is promoted to the Southern League Premier Division and another ground to tick off.

Just be careful with the kick off times....always try and double check with club webites.
If you are going to Basingstoke by train then it is a fair walk from the station. Otherwise a perfectly decent non league ground.

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE GAMES THIS YEAR!: Today I visited the Conference South play-off semi - final between Boreham Wood and Havant & Waterlooville, this involved sheer emotions when Boreham scored both their goals. It also included one of the weirdest ways to serve a portion of chips I have ever seen at a football match, the day had everything, even a half time trip to Mcdonalds! Hope you guys enjoy and if you did... why not subscribe or like the video, would help me no end!

I don't normally write match reports, but...this is kind of a match report! Newhaven beat Arundel 3-1 in the Peter Bentley Challenge Cup Final, in the presence of 505 people, a chocolate labrador and two scruffy looking terriers.
