Surely no one comes close to Ryan Lowe? Clearly you’d expect him to hold out for something further up rather than taking the first job to come along but his CV is very impressive and would be a massive statement of intent.

Agreed, but I think it’s pie in the sky. Championship/top end L1 minimum he’ll be looking at I’d say.

He was at our recent home game, but that could have been for any reason.

I'd have Lowe but he's not my top choice because although he achieved two promotions with Bury and Plymouth I've heard that his assistant Schumacher was the real brains behind it and Lowe gets negative vibes from the Preston fans for having a negative style of play.

And yeah he probably wouldn't come this far down the leagues to manage us anyway.

Rob Elliot just feels right for us and what we want to achieve in the long run and comes across as a top bloke and good for this generation of players.

I’ve read this “Schumacher was the brains behind it” thing a lot recently.

If that was the case and it was widely known, wouldn’t the club just sack Lowe and promote Schumacher? What was Lowe doing for all these seasons while Schumacher was supposedly doing all the good work from the assistant role?

I’m not sure I buy it to be honest. I think it’s a lazy conclusion someone come up with because Schumacher did a good job after Lowe left.

Well it is obvious we are waiting till the certain guilty verdict on Man City so we can appoint Guardiola.

To be honest even though
It’s the old b*llocks fans rumours I did like the idea of Nigel Pearson as the director of football, probably time called on management for him and DOF may appeal and he’d have good connections

Ricky Martin & Alex Neil doing the rounds this morning.

Ricky Martin is a very strong rumour.

The Neil part might just be because he's worked with Martin before.

That would be a great appointment and would make sense, however I'm sure Alex Neil will be on a huge wage as he supposedly left Sunderland for Stoke just for money.

Neil was on a huge wedge at Stoke and is still probably getting paid off by them so it wouldn’t come cheap. Not to say it couldn’t happen as stranger things have but it would be very surprising if he dropped to L2.

As I said with Lowe when people say why would he come here…….what’s their options???

We clearly at moment would give them a budget if they are happier based in the north there really is only Bolton job that may come up for a while, Blackpool is gone, Wrexham Doncaster and Stockport won’t change managers, Barnsley would aim higher. Rotherham and suppose the other possible option.

Shrewsbury tranmere, Walsall, Crewe, Fleetwood Grimsby are probably going to offer a lot less budget currently

The Carlisle owners are at present quite happy to throw silly wages at it all we may currently have the two highest paid players in L2

The Ricky Martin rumour has a lot more weight to it though because it appeared on the site TeamTalk and then it was mentioned on the BBC gossip page. The Pearson rumour was just started from some random fan online.

Wasn’t Martin the guy who sacked Neil at Stoke?

The Martin part I can believe, but Alex Neil? Not a chance.

If you hang fire long enough wouldn’t shock me if Ian Evatt becomes available. He’s a bit of a bellend but he’s a successful bellend.

I still don’t think we’ll go down.

If we appoint a new head coach and still fail to win any of the next two games, I may change my mind.

We need to find an organiser for the defence, thankfully will still be a few about who felt themselves too important to drop to L2 and now have nothing.

The weird thing is that usually was one of Simpsons best transfer traits he found Kev Gray and Huntington who were perfect for that role and didn’t this summer.

But the rumour mill was Huntington was meddling behind scenes last season and wonder if that put Simpson off signing another which was a grave error.

The problem for Carlisle at present is deciding what type of head coach the owners want to what maybe this group of players actually need…..we could be a FGR an expensive squad relegated because we piddle about with experiments and wild hopes before finally at last minute find the right answer

Do you still not think we need a quick fix? Someone to come in and just get some bloody points on the board and pride back in the team by any means necessary?

I think you're right in that it's later than you think. There's never time to piss about at the foot of L2. Still think you'll be fine but you need a manager pretty soon.

Nope, they need a coach that will drill them into becoming an effective football team with and without the ball in a system with clear patterns of play. That could still be a quick fix as a good coach would hopefully not pick a mismatched mess of a team selection like today. It was the selection that cost us today more than anything. i was utterly baffled when i saw the midfield we were lining up with.

Appointing a dinosaur to try and grind out results will not work with this squad.

GET PETE WILD IN!

He’s not a dinosaur obviously given his age, but I don’t want him. He’d be under pressure quicker than any other potential coach. We need some positivity from day one and he wouldn’t bring it.

Anyone with any kind of managerial pedigree about them will do right now to be honest because of how dire our situation is.

Have you given up on promotion yet?

I think I’m slightly more relaxed about the situation here because I fully expected this hangover and a bottom 8 finish. I think we’ll be in the bottom 2 for pretty much all of the first half of the season, but gradually as the hangover wears off we will have a better second half and pull away to a 16th - 18th finish.

I expected us to stay up last season, to win the league this season and for us to be in the Championship in 5 years because our owner said so.

The likes of Lewis, Lavelle, Vela and Mellish will do well for us in the Championship. We don't need to replace them.

I’ll take that as a yes you have given up on promotion this season.

If you do want some positive perspective I watched curzon play Stockport in the ‘local derby’ in conf north in 2019 jist 5 years ago, now Stockport local derby is Bolton in league one.

Situations can drastically change, although that was the season Stockport had finally cracked it on the pitch after some horrific years.

Friend and Taylor?

Matt Taylor of Bristol Rovers? I’ve heard that today as well.

Not sure if they were options we approached or there’s more to it. However would seem strange to leave Bristol to join a club struggling down the bottom.
