I'm not linking an article from The S*n, but according to them, Uncle Dave might be flogging us to a "Wealthy Chinese Group".

Sounds like Garry Cook may have done the job I bet he was secretly brought in to do this summer. No idea whether this has legs but one to keep an eye on.

Never a dull moment eh...

Maybe they've come to destroy your club after Whelan laughed at the Chinese a while back.
Not long after that furore, this appeared in the Wigan vs Oldham programme! :D :D :D

Hopefully there's a Chinese version of Venky's...

Would you like some vinegar to go with that salt? :D
Absolutely nothing to be salty about. Since that night in May 2012 when your fans laughed at us going down you've been relegated 3 times to our 1.

The salt was about you being ever so slightly bitter that we may be the subject of a takeover while Venky's continue to leave you languishing in the doldrums. Not that you should be desperate for a takeover, Venky's continue to pay your bills and keep you afloat, you should be bloody grateful to have them. Jordan Rhodes, 8 million.

Takeovers are never a guarantee of success.

That £8m for Rhodes was during a period where we received millions in parachute payments, they didn't put their hands in their pockets to fund that. The only reason they are having to put in millions now to keep us afloat is because they caused us to lose money hand over fist in the first place. You wouldn't thank a criminal for replacing your windows if they bricked them, so why would we ever be grateful to have Venky's just because they're only taking us downhill slowly rather than letting us go bust, due to their mistakes?

Reading aren’t doing so well either after their Asian takeover.

Two spot kicks away from the Premier League last season...

Sounds like this has legs. Being reported by multiple media sources now, apparently the players and staff all got told today what was happening. BBC think it's Hong Kong investors which is hilarious considering we actually have a Hong Kong fans club! Hopefully not another Carson Yeung although it would be typical Wigan if we had managed to find the only skint fraudster in the whole of the middle east to sell to.

Don’t worry. There’s plenty more of his like in the Middle East and Asia.

Still surprises me when people see a foreign investor looking to buy their club, and they instantly think massive investment on the pitch.

In reality, very few do, and whatever is spent ends up as an unserviceable loan 5 years down the line after the ‘project’ hasn’t been successful.

Good luck, and get your Trust up and running asap.

Interesting one, i'd be apprehensive if a group of foreign businessmen were taking over PNE but that would probably fade if they spunked a few million on some quality players.

We might find ourselves in a similar situation in a few years when Hemmings steps down like Whelan has done, although his sons are supposedly keen to keep things running.

Have I actually said that though? In fact I don't think I've even mentioned whether I'm happy or not about this takeover. Mainly because I have no idea who these people are. However with Premier League riches dangling down on Championship clubs like a carrot it's no surprise so many clubs are being taken over with a view to going for promotion. You need to stop judging every foreign takeover based on your car crash of an experience though.

Touchy! I didn't reference you in that statement. Just amazed at the amount of fans that see foreign investor and instantly think they've struck gold.

I don't base my views purely from my clubs experience. Look at Villa, Sunderland, Birmingham, Leeds, Blackburn, Forest, Wimbledon for starters. And there's plenty more I'm sure haven't listed.

Thought I’d bump this since rumours are flying around all over the place on it. Both parties trying to complete the deal before the new year so we have funds available in January. Been a sticking point or two apparently, Whelan won’t sell unless his Grandson gets a job within the new hierarchy being one of them.

Apparently a deal is very close, Henry Cheng of Internatiinal Entertainment Corporatiin will be our new owner. He is estimated at being worth approx $14 billion.
Just read up about him and he was sued in 2005 by a certain Mr Donald Trump for $1 billion haha.

Like many other clubs in the league above, it will be used as a Tax Loss Business, and run at a big loss, offset by profits from his other companies, which get funnelled into the club as Investment, with dividends being paid back once in the PL (if they get there).

It's all OK, as long as the money doesn't dry up and debts grow too large after failed attempts to get into the PL. If the money does dry up, it will be another casualty.

This was discussed on the Argyle message boards, about how many clubs in the Championship are funded, and that many of those clubs could fold in the event of another Global Financial crisis.

Guy trying to buy us is a professional shark. Dr Stanley Choi is his name. The company officially buying us is an umbrella company called International Entertainment Corporation. He is the majority shareholder. The Cheng family are only a minority shareholder so I presume they are not involved. Unsurprisingly many fans (including myself) are very skeptical. Never a dull moment!
