I think most clubs with a play off position at this stage would say they're having a tremendous season and they wouldn't be posting in this thread

There is one reason fans of other teams are laughing at your team imploding and that's the pussy Carver who does you Carlisle fans no favours. I have no disrespect for any team in league 2 as we're all shit or we wouldn't be here would we?
Same old same old

Carver behave yourself ya daft get

I am a fair minded fan and say it how it is

The FA Cup game v Rochdale and I saw a Carlisle team being outplayed that for me was the turning point this season

I have heard a rumour that (allegedly) Curle has been hitting the bottle and lost the plot

If this is not true then I apologise

Anyone remember the disgraceful performance on Boxing Day a few years ago V York City when several of our squad had feckin hangovers?
We looked and played like shit and York won 3-0

Straw poll of the Carlisle fans on here... but would any of you actually want us to get promoted now. I said on the Notts County thread that given we're still hanging on to a playoff place I could just somehow see it happening and it would be an embarrassment. We'd probably also go on to get absolutely panned in League One... but then if we don't go up I can't see us having another pop at promotion next season. I am almost leaning towards missing out on the playoffs would be the least worst thing to happen to us in the medium term. If offered promotion I'd still take it, but then expect nothing but a record-breakingly dire season in League One next year.

I'd 100% take fluking promotion. Then worst that could happen next season would be finishing bottom of league 1, at least we'd still be a football league club.

We are that bad now that I fear if we don't make 2 or 3 very good summer signings, next season we're going to be facing an uphill battle to keep our league status.

Seriously thigh it's not gonna happen. I can't for for the life of me see us picking up the required number of points to cement 7th place. I still have doubts that we'll even match last seasons 67pts total.

You Carlisle fans aren't half bizarre.

And I thought some of our fans took pleasure in our demise.

Shoddy - you'd seriously not bother giving it a go and having another season down here? bearing in mind that Wimbledon snatched a place at the death last season and are more than holding their own in league 1 - something you could easily do with your size and support. We've not been in league 1 since 2003 - where we conceded around 627 goals in the process - but i'd love, love another chance at it sometime soon.

Your normally seem pretty level headed, but that's a pretty daft statement

Don't include me with those miserable numpties, I hope we give it a go obviously because the last time we had any chance of promotion was 9 years ago. It doesn't come round often for us, so we should be making the most of it and not feeling sorry for ourselves.

There are 5 games to go, we're in the play offs and it's still in our hands so my message is for our fans to either get behind the team or fuck off.

Yeah and looked what happened to you after that, Shoddy is right sometimes its best to build for the future and ensure you can make the step up rather than fluke your way up only to drop back down like a stone. A relegation season spent at the bottom of lge 1 could do more damage than a mid table nothing season in lge 2

Until yesterday I thought we had learnt from our 6 years in non league and building for the future rather than trying to rise back up the leagues but after yesterday I guess not.

I'm on the side of always fluking promotion. Had we not fluked survival for two years before our relegation I'm pretty sure Davis would've succeeded in making us a Conference club. Luckily the bad seasons and consistent relegation battles finally made our board wake up and sack him this season.

Obviously relegation is a fucking awful thing but I'm a lot more relaxed going down from League 1 to League 2 than I will be if we somehow conspired to spectacularly implode and end up in the Conference next season, you always need that buffer and that's why being in League One is much much better than plodding along in League Two...

I'd easily choose fluking promotion. There's going to be mass changes in the summer either way, and I'd be confident Curle and his staff would recruit well in League One.

The season after? We lost in the playoff semi final. Our demise after that was due to Haslam pulling funding.

That said, if Plymouth Portsmouth and donny all go up it could be an open league next year.

Which carlisle fans wouldn't take promotion?

None of us have said we wouldn't want it. Why does that make us bizarre?

You've said don't include you with the "miserable numpties", then in the same sentence you've agreed with both me and shoddy about taking promotion if offered.
Make your mind up.

He has also predicted Carlisle to lose for the last 8 games running including v Hartlepool this week, despite quoting 'it's still in our hands either get behind the team or fuck off'.
A very bizarre individual.

That is just in some stupid prediction league thing where if I predict us to lose then it is a little consolation for me if we do lose.

You know I'm starting to get really annoyed with you giving me so much stick on here, you'd best back away before I start shouting at you through my keyboard.

So why then before January were you predicting Carlisle to win every week?

Because we were winning a lot back then dummy, I predict us to lose a lot when we are unpredictable. Just so I can say "Oh well we lost but at least I got some points for it".

Well we need something to cheer about right now, we're in danger of going into summer in a cloud of doom and gloom, fluking promotion would certainly change the atmosphere a bit. It's as well that the new if EWM investment has come when it has, though in truth that's only a stepping stone, not a game changer in and of itself.

I think if you "fluked" promotion as it were, you'd have plenty enough time to get your house in order. I made the comment when someone mentioned something along the lines of "if i had the chance next season to go up or stay down, i'd stay down" - which I found bizarre - there's no guarantee of promotion the following season anyway.
