After season 30, apparently.

With some of the avid Simpsons watchers on here I thought there'd already be a thread. At times like these I think we need to spare a moment for Oaf.

That's quite sad actually. :( And I still watch the latest episodes purely because I grew up with the programme on BBC 2/CH4. Had the toys, etc. Will certainly be the end of an era. There's usually the one odd gem in each series, like South Park these days.

I wouldn't be surprised if they continue on past the 30th series - but even when it does stop, it will make a return and another and another a....

Went on for far too long. I love the Simpsons but 30 seasons? Really?

The last few seasons have been absolute dross. I'd rather watch older seasons again than the new episodes.

They've been flogging a dead horse with The Simpsons for over a decade now.

A shame if it's true, but it couldn't last forever. Probably for the best. If anything though, I'd kind of hope that maybe they can take a good 5-10 years off and then perhaps bring it back down the line... perhaps that'd be a way to capture some of the old magic.

Got to be honest, haven't watched it other than the odd episode for several years now, it's time's up.

They've been flogging a dead horse with this for ages now.

Hopefully it'll now be reinvigorated with Chris Evans presenting.

Yeah I haven't seen loads of them now, I think up to about season 15 maybe. I've seen them all numerous times, barely any after that.

Should probably have stuck to specials, like 'Treehouse of horror', Christmas additions and such. Or maybe they'll still do odd ones like that.

I don't think anyone I know looks out for new episodes, and it's probably been that way for several years. It's a shame to see one of the best TV programmes of all time receive universal derision for not being decommissioned, but not as much of a shame as seeing Sideshow Bob get a face transplant, or seeing Homer get raped by a panda.

Was a huge part of my youth. I remember heading to my nans for the weekend and avidly tuning in at 6pm every Friday with dinner. Some of the fonder memories of growing up. When is the last series/episode aired?

It's not set in stone, people involved in the show were just speculating about it ending any time within the next 3 seasons or possibly even extending on after that.

Hopefully they've at least worked out a decent way to finish it. Read somewhere that a show runner wants to end it with the family getting ready for the Christmas Pageant you see in episode 1

The Simpsons were huge in the Nineties and early Noughties; I used to watch them all the time too, even though I found Lisa to be one of the most annoying c*** in all telly. It has been past it for a long time now however, like Family Guy; and will probably end in a few years I'd say.

as many have said its just simply not been deserving of being on this long, it has been terrible for a good 10 years and has held on mostly due to nostalgia.

the sad part is Simpsons doesn't need to make new stuff either, the old ones are so re-watchable that its in a unique brand where they can re-show most of the early episodes time and time again and people still enjoy watching them.
