We suddenly have a lot of options and it’s quite hard to pick a team if Crowley, Jones and Jatta are all back. Personally wouldn’t rush Crowley at all for this, it’s not his kind of game whatsoever away from home on a tight pitch, but I have a hunch Jones perhaps wasn’t actually injured but instead it’s a dispute around making himself unavailable for Malta. Jatta is definitely back from his bang on the bonce against Grimsby, but might have to do with a place on the bench while McGoldrick is on a purple patch of scoring screamers every week.

Jones (or if he’s not fit then Gordon) in for Austin and go again for me. Jatta and Crowley on the bench would be a boon, but agree that sacrificing the work rate of Edwards or Abbott for Crowley from the start wouldn’t be ideal for this type of fixture.

I do wonder when the Matty Palmer start is coming, he’s played 30 minutes off the bench 4 games in a row now

Bromley and then Gillingham will answer the have Notts played a good team yet question so will be fascinating to see how we do.

I think Edwards will retain his place on work rate alone and Bromley being a tough physical game, I expect he'd choose experience. Agree that this is not an ideal match for Crowley so a substitute appearance would be good. Similarly he may fancy Jatta back in the side to catch Bromley on the break

Ryan Loft scoring as many league goals that half hour he was on than he did in a season at Vale :ffs:
and someone else still paid money for him  although they have yet to see the delights of him trying to control a football.
Crazy how he is still a L1 player.

Looking forward to the game against Chesterfield, nice to see them back. The last time we played them it was a crunch game at the bottom of this division which we scraped with 10 men. Tom Pope said he was sick after the end of the game because of all the tension.

I was early 30's at the time and was a wreck by the end of that game, didn't one Vale fan have a heart attack behind the Bycars after? Was awful, hope we never go back to those days again.

We’ll no doubt continue our LWLWL form with a win on Saturday, which will sum up our season so far.

I think a win gives us a good start to the season after a really tricky run of games, a loss would give us what would feel like a really undeserved 6 points from 18 available. After being draw specialists last season that’s apparently strictly off the table now.

Also news today that we’ve had a large investment from a consortium of people, including a couple of supporters of the club, £1.5m to be exact. Although it’s probably a drop in the ocean compared to some.

Sounds like we could be without Sarcevic and Johnson for the rest of 2024. Disappointing. Callum Kavanagh also out, but he's been dreadful so probably not much of a miss tbh.

Fancy Cook to score. 1-1.

We were about the only team you could catch that is why we were under pressure, I realise how gutting relegation from this division must be, just glad it wasn`t us but like I said earlier glad to see you back unlike some clubs who you are glad to see the back of.

Palmer has understandably looked a little off it by his high standards

I think he’s been fine, he’s not a massive impact player so coming off the bench when we’re winning and just knocking the ball about is all he’s been asked to do - except for Fleetwood where I thought him and Tsaroulla improved us massively.

Delighted to learn he’s still 2nd in the league in completed passes per 90 (Big Matty Platt number 1) so shows he’s still the main man when he is on the pitch

Guess we’re winning games and the midfield is largely functioning pretty well so there’s no need to rush it. I’d be surprised if that first start came away at Bromley, anyway.

Platt having the most completed passes in the entire league is funny after the ‘good defender but can’t pass the ball’ stuff. He’s clearly under strict ‘no pinging it’ instructions haha.

Oh he's been fine no doubt about it he's the non league Pirlo after all but he's understandably not back to his best yet. He certainly helped against Fleetwood but was pretty loose (well by his high standards) at Swindon.

When he hits his former levels we can only look better. Expect that possession stat to get a bump, not that it's needed.

As for Platt he's impressed, maybe as first thought it was a good swap deal where both Bratfud and Notts benefit from different types of centre defenders

Got a massive defensive crisis now, they had a couple missing against us, then one went off injured after 3 minutes and 2 got sent off so will be banned. They really struggled against Stockley so the one thing which may go for them is Smith being banned as aerially he would probably cause them similar problems.
We might be OKish at the back for Swindon. Matt Baker back from Wales U21duty and Seberry could return for his 1st game of the season after injury. If McLoughlin is fit then Cam Evans stays at CB but he was hobbling about after the Vale game so must be doubtful.

Says it all about our summer recruitment(currently) that Palmer isn’t an automatic choice to start yet.

As Jacob says, not sure Bromley away is the place to do it, I reckon Abbot’s gonna love it with his penchant for a slide tackle.

Salford away. Could be any result honestly, still no idea how good we are tbh. We're due a draw, so I'll say 1-1, Matty Taylor to score for us.

Early days obviously but the summer recruitment labelled as underwhelming by some Notts fans (presumably primarily based on names) so far seems to have been anything but.

The midfield transformation I did not see coming, unlike the defence and goalkeeper which we were desperate for.

Sarcevic is out for 1-2 months (call it 6 weeks). Johnson was already injured and is yet to kick a ball for us, so no disappointment here from me.

We have so many decent attacking MF options, we shouldn’t be disappointed if a player picks up a knock. Johnson wasn’t going to dislodge Halliday, was he?

We’ve only taken 1 point from 4 away trips to Bromley since 2019 and so we’ll be justifiably pessimistic.

Andy Woodman’s voodoo aside though, I think we’re the best equipped we’ve ever been to get something from this type of game and shouldn’t be physically bullied as much as we have been in previous trips.

Hopefully our galacticos are back fit and available for selection.
I had Jatta and Jones in my EFL team last week, where were they?? I checked Jones wasnt going to be in Malta squad.

Jatta got a concussion against Grimsby so he was never going to play due to the 21-day protocol. Jones had a ‘knock’, but I wonder if there’s something going on with him and Malta.

To be fair I left your ground that night feeling like I had a bit of concussion too.

That's allright because L2 just wouldn't be the same without Bradford in it.

During the election campaign Kier Starmer stated a key part of his manifesto was to change the law that Barrow aren't allowed anything away at Grimsby. We shall see if that promise has been fulfilled on Saturday.

So far Daly is looking just as much a player as I remember him from the NL for Woking.

Agreed, always stood out for them. Surprised he’s not done more since.

That’s a brilliant diving header. Decent game to be fair, Donny loads of the ball but Harrogate a threat on the break.
