We've just signed Ryan Tunnicliffe on a free after his Millwall contract expired. Takes me back to my Football Manager days when I used to sign him out of Man Utd's academy. I'm guessing he hasn't since gone on to become a borderline world-class ball-winning midfielder like he did on that game. Any thoughts Millwall fans?
Scored a good goal against us just after Xmas. Little bicycle kick if I remember

Lots of work to do, but a good start to the summer.

Good call mate.

Anybody else we’re after or imminent?
Not that I know of pal, I think it might hinge on what happens with Webster so we’ll see how that develops.

Tomaa Kalas is a red. Record fee believed to be around £7.5M. Absolutely superb signing City.

It's rumoured that Matthew Connolly, Rhys Healey, Jazz Richards, Brian Murphy, Omar Bogle, Lee Tomlin and Gary Madine are all on their way out of the CCS.

Jazz Richards has apparently been linked with Reading and Matthew Connolly with Luton Town.

Cardiff City have signed (so far): Joe Day (Newport County), Curtis Nelson (Oxford United), Will Vaulks (Rotherham United) and have been linked with John Souttar (Hearts), Lewis Holtby (HSV) and Neal Maupay (Brentford).

Few decent young players there. You guys will be right up there again I reckon (he says through gritted teeth).

Think Reid will be more of a regular for you this season? Seemed to do alright in the Prem when he played from what little I saw, just didn't get many minutes.

Matt Smith signs :dk:

FFS, now we can't sing "There's only two Matt Smiths".

He'll score goals but he wants to start. If he starts, you can only play long ball. Good luck to him but he wanted more than 10 minutes when we are chasing a game.

I like we seem to be trying to fit player personalities as well as skill sets. We're going to need to be a tight together squad to survive and prosper

Have Bristol City actually strengthened? It just seems like they’re signing last season’s squad.

Good players admittedly but I just can’t see where their side has improved from last year yet.

Long way to go yet. I’d agree with you but the young players we have are improving year on year. The likes of Brownhill and Eliasson had a fantastic season last campaign, it’s just whether we can keep hold of those players and add to the squad.

The only position we seriously need strengthening is in the final third.

Yeah fair enough, just an observation really.

Ironically, after I’ve just questioned Bristol City signing last season’s loan players, it’s just come out that we’re set to sign Ben Purrington from Rotherham - who we had on loan last season.

Think Bristol City's policy is good personally, loaning young Prem players with a view to a permanent. Spending £10m on two defenders isn't an option for everyone but at least they know they're getting first team ready players.

Continuity is just as important as strengthening.

I still doubt they managed to get Dasilva for £2m, would seem like an incredibly stupid decision by Chelsea (and they don't normally give their loan players away...), but fair enough if they did.

The main issue with that is they will have had to pay loan fees for them the season before, so while the fees now are £10m, they will alsohave paid another few mil last season.

Ethan Pinnock joining us from Barnsley for £3m. We needed another CB but this doesn’t quite fit our usual transfer strategy as he’s 26 already.

You lot love under valuing your own players.

It’s ridiculous. Some of the sums being thrown around he’s worth double that at least.

Apparently we’ve offered him a contract to make him our highest earner so hopefully he’ll stay but he’s a London lad and might see Brentford as a better prospect going forward.

On a positive note there are reports we’ve finalised a permanent deal for Aapo Halme from Leeds. Would certainly soften the blow but I’ll still be fuming if Pinnock goes.

Alfa Semedo the latest Benfica player we’re rumoured to be signing on loan. Central midfielder.

We did get JDS for £2M MB, it was agreed 12 months ago as part of the loan contract. Total bargain eh?
Bear in mind we've spent £14M on JDS, Bentley and Kalas and are just about even this summer with Kelly and Rosa going. We haven't touched the £25M we got last year do could well go big again, if LJ wants to that is.

You've touched the £25m as it's part of your losses. It isn't ring fenced.
Also you’ll be a lot down on your incomings this year, as you’re forgetting tax and agents fees.

Jay DaSilva’s fee was £2m MagpieBee it’s a fact not an opinion mate.

Pinnock signing of the window so far I think, us or Leeds should’ve been in for him.

Bobbin' I had the debate about us not strengthening yet with someone else and I agree with you. Whilst they’re superb signings (JDS, Kalas) we had them last season, Szmodics isn’t better than Palmer yet I don’t think who he’s replacing (unless he also joins, which I expect he might) and if Bentley plays like he did last season then he’s not an upgrade on Maenpaa, he is if he recaptures his from from two years ago though.

What I will say though is it took us half the season to gel last season and we got stronger as it went on, so we’re going to be a better unit and also our young, impressive players like Brownhill, Eliasson, Da Silva are all a year further into their progression.

Just my opinion but I think City are looking strong for a top 6 finish this season and I’m very rarely optimistic. Of course though, we still have lots of business to do, but we’re in a strong position.

£5m for your two first choice defenders seems really underwhelming, especially with your keeper going on a free as well.

Barnsley a complete unknown this season.
