Seems the strikers will be worked harder and rotate more hence the numbers. Plus we look like a three up top and just two mids looking at the acquisitions. The mids will be box to box workers and ball winners and we have that already with back ups qnd id expect that to be next seasons upgrade. Width and creativity from the wingbacks. Agree the CH we target is vital. Where has Bell been? I was expecting him to be LCH.

Definitely going to be rotating the strikers a lot but I’d be really surprised if we went for a pure 3 up top and only 2 midfield.

We already struggled in some games with getting run over in midfield and with our press if you play through it that leaves us extremely exposed. First goal in the home playoff semi final is absolutely classic issue that the system we played last season presents and playing with a 2 makes that very much worse I think. I’d be surprised but NJ is becoming more and more aggressive in his approaches so you never know I guess. Don’t think a 2 particularly suits any of the midfielders as they are all quite aggressive pressers who get pulled out of position a lot, with a 3 up top plus Bree and Doughty bombing on those midfield players would need to be sitters not like the ones we have.
The PSF games so far I’m not reading anything into shape and whose playing where just yet as I think it’s been about minutes more than anything, West Ham next week will probably be a better baramometer. We played 433 most of pre season last year and after the first few games never played that during the season.

Sounds like we might have come to an arrangement with West Brom for Callum Robinson. Loan with a view to a permanent.

DJ, Robinson & Riis could be tasty.

Im thinking he plans a fluid 10 to drop out and a 6 to push up and make up the two mids. That or he trusts what we have. I agree that its more about mins than formations but why play what you wont thru the season. Never know with Jones but im looking forward to seeing it.

Weve already seen that weakness with Northamptons goal yesterday.

Zidane Iqbal from United being mentioned again. Did a work experience thing here last season and we're supposedly front of the queue if he gets sent out on loan.

Not sure I have ever posted in this part of the forum but any Rotherham fans here? We are rumoured to be signing Angus MacDonald who you released. What kind of player should we expect?

Sounds like Josh Harrop is refusing to go out on loan. Likely to just sit on his probable £10k a week wage and let his career fall into nothing. Mad some of these guys, that Marcus Madison was the same, currently at Darlington after 4 games at Spalding.

Maddison has been very open since joining us about his mental health issues, which have played a large part in where he has ended up. Not sure if he deserves lumping in with Harrop.

Alvaro Fernandez, LWB on loan from Man Utd is the latest rumour. Robinson, Sterling, Fernandez, & Archer will do.

Seems like we will be signing this Pepple chap, forward who had a bit of a hot streak in the Canadian league to begin the season. Some Canadian sports journalist (not sure how we ended up here but!) reporting his move to a European club is imminent. As we had him on trial you’d think that meant us

I’d have thought he would be loaned out given he’s just been playing and scoring fairly regularly in senior football (albeit at a lower standard) and he won’t get those minutes for us as we are loaded with forwards already

James Pradic signs a 2 year pro deal with an option to a third. Wales U19 youth keeper, club seem to rate him highly.

He joins O'Neill, Bennett, Nevin, Amaral, Mawene, Coulton, Seary, and Leigh in signing pro deals, or pre-contracts in the past 12 months.

Two of our released players have moved locally, Ethan Walker to Blackburn & Jacob Holland-Wilkinson to Wigan.

Bit of a rumour Luton in for McKirdy which would enable us to go for Simpson at Ipswich. No brainer for me. I’m not convinced McKirdy would reproduce last season even if he stayed with us let alone go up to the Championship.

Doesn’t have the wring of truth that one. Not seen or heard anything about it this end and would be a bit of a turn up as we have more attacking options than we need at this point.

Talk lately and even yesterday was getting in a few players “for the future” (18-21 types to play in our under 23’s) and perhaps a new centre half.

Adebayo attracting the interests of Rooney and DC United. $5m bid incoming apparently which I don’t think is going to be near enough and personally I don’t think he’d be interested in that move either but you never know.

Think we have at best a year left with him before he is making a move though, if he starts the season running I could see some club coming in for him late in the window

Possibly 3 signings on the cards today, maybe 4 altogether in the next 24hrs. Parrott & Fernandez are definitely at Deepdale today, open training session so they've been spotted in the exec box. There's also a third guy who hasn't been identified yet.

As we all know it was always a matter of time when the offers would start, not if. No surprise but frustrating. Lets hope it doesn't come to anything for a year and also doesnt knock him off his stride.

That touch and go simple ball to slide Clark into acres v West Ham who then put a sublime ball for Harry to run in one in one was a thing of beauty. Shame he went the wrong way round the keeper.

Harry gonna have to step up his game and realise all that promise this season. Knuckle down and maybe stop being Mr Funny and Happy go lucky jovial guy and get a bit meaner and more lethal.

He did get double figure goals last season to be fair to him, his finishing was noticeably better I thought. Got to keep that momentum though I agree, can’t skip back into his old ways

Agree and didnt mean to be overly harsh as he has improved year in year and held his place. Will be a lot more pressure this season as we have a lot more alternatives. Just think he has at least another level to step up if he can dig deep and find it mentally.

Presten look to have done some very tidy business so far in acquisitions and keeping the better players. Must be some hope of a push upwards this season.

Our back three concerns me, but I like Lowe and there is some quality going forward. Let's see, Luton & Hudds have shown money isn't everything.
