Wolves have had a bid accepted for Chris Wood according to our local paper...

http://www.expressandstar.com/sport...ing-news-wolves-have-chris-wood-bid-accepted/

He was an absolute donkey for us, albeit clearly not match fit.

As for us..... http://www.itfc.co.uk/news/article/...-be-reinvested-into-ipswich-town-2510745.aspx

That's pretty big news. All the TM fee made available to McCarthy. Bearing in mind how much Marcus Evans has loaned the club, he deserves praise for that. If Mick gets this transfer window right we could have a very promising season ahead.

Kari Arnason has left Rotherham to join Malmo in Sweden for an undisclosed fee. SERNWA is probably crying himself to sleep.

SERNWA is not the only one crying himself to sleep.

However who would want to stand in his way, a return to the country of his birth playing for the biggest club side in Sweden.
The chance to play in Europe and at 32 yrs old a 2 1/2 year deal with a substantial wage increase.
Apart from the odd lapse of concentration, Kari has been brilliant for us for 3 marvellous years.

I can only wish him good luck and thank him for some great memories.
We now need to use his fee and his wages to replace him.

Yeah can't blame him. Think he has looked fairly decent at this level (a lot worse than him anyway) for a player who has come up with you from the League 2 days. Think you've already brought some decent players in (Buxton and Mattock) so I don't think he will be missed too much.

With Dicko and Afobe, do Wolves need to be spending £2.5m on a striker?

Meanwhile, we're linked with David Ball who's been released by Fleetwood. :mowbray:

Surprised Fleetwood released him to be honest, seemed a decent enough player at that level. His goal against us was different class.

Steve Bruce suddenly won't shut up about how much he wants to keep Tom Ince. Funny how he's suddenly piped up now we're getting closer to this July 1st date.

Why put that clause in the loan agreement, if he was so "integral" to your plans, Steve?

I guess the idea is that the fans think Bruce has done everything he can to keep him.

I'd like Wood at Leeds so I hope he realises he'll be a starter here, whereas Wolves already have a good partnership. At least it's nice to see us compete in the market.

Apparently the first bid that was rejected was 1 million, and the 2nd bid that was accepted wasn't much more than 1m... but we'll see. We probably do need another striker as we only have 2 at the club in Dicko and Afobe (we have McAlinden too but he will be loaned out somewhere)

Oh wait I see what you're doing

That would surprise me.

He's not really good enough for this level, but he's decent enough for League One.

Meanwhile, Paul Taylor is on trial at Forest.

Won't be long before he's on trial in a Nottingham Court Room too, I imagine. Such a talent, but such a dickhead.

Presumably they didn't think he was good enough for the top flight (yet, at least) and believed they still had a chance of survival when they loaned him out. Obviously once relegated, things changed. It makes sense that if he's good enough for the Championship, they'd rather keep him than strengthen a promotion chasing rival. I mean, it's hardly rocket science...

Well they're making us pay the whole fee in one go, so it does suggest all that....but it's still absolute incompetence to have put that in if they had any desire to keep him in whichever league they'd have ended up being in.

Taking Nicky Maynard and Paul Taylor on trial. This is what it's come to.

To be honest Maynard is only 28. And our list of sick notes isn't in double figures ATM so he might as well sign.

Dunno anything about Taylor but his goal scoring record looks shite.

Taylor was injured for basically the whole time he was at Ipswich. Even if he was good at Peterborough, I doubt he is now.

He was very good here. Looked like he'd easily go further than any of our unearthed 'gems'. Think he's just fallen in to bad habits again. He's a twat off the field and I know that resurfaced at one point at Ipswich.

The secret agent that was on the Sky Sports website once did an article about him whilst he was with us, I'll see if I can find it.

EDIT: This one: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11979/7213398/Secret-Agent

Maybe they expected you to go up and thought sending him your way would leave only two relegation places to avoid next season.

What's Mark Bunn like Munkiki? Seen a few videos of some saves he made, but obviously a video of good clips don't paint the full picture of a Goalkeeper. Would he be a good enough number 1 in this league? I'm still not confident with Fielding at all.

Corrected it now. I think that's just a sign of how little I've been paying attention to these rumours lately - because we've been linked with about 287 players already.

Fielding deserves his chance in the championship, Bunn by the looks has historically been a #2 but has championship experience should be be required for first team duty. On appearance seems a sound signing if we are the club in question.

As vastly improved as he was last season, he still has a mistake in him from time to time.

I'm not in anyway suggesting we're going to sign some World Class practically faultless keeper, but he's massively hindered by his height, which affects high shots, reaches across goal and taking command of balls into the box.

Still not convinced.

fair enough, but as you said we're unlikely to sign a keeper of real high class, if Fielding has a poor start to the season, Bunn or whoever comes in can then have the chance to oust him, but the display the back 6 gave last season should see him start imo.

When Ruddy got injured he played just under two-thirds of the Prem season we finished 11th and I can't recall him letting us down. Probably a few inches too short to be a top 'keeper but should be good enough at this level. He was injured for a while so I guess it depends how he comes back from that as well.

Another small keeper?

If the rumours are to be believed, Lee Camp is a target Cotterill would like to bring in as well. He seems to have some sort of obsession over small keepers.

Both have been heavily linked to Reading the past few weeks. Paul McShane seems almost certain, as it looks like we might be offering him captaincy/senior role to help persuade him. Quinn is linked with Reading and Cardiff but Hull are still deep in contract talks with him as they want to keep him.

Starting to get a few more rumours pop up at Reading. Apparently we've made a £750k bid for Clayton Donaldson after failing a £500k one last week. If Birmingham want the £2m they say they want then I hope we don't pay it (not that we could afford it either), I would pay £1m absolute top for him. Has to be better value elsewhere, strikers in England are ridiculously expensive now.
£2m for Donaldson would be ridiculous considering someone could sign him on a pre-contract expiry deal in January unless we offer him a new deal; I guess it's just our way of saying he isn't for sale.

When I lived in Lancashire I occasionally went to see Burnley when he was the manager, and he always seemed to play Danny Coyne as a goalkeeper who was small. According to wiki he's even smaller than Fielding...

I am crying about Kari Arnason, especially as I know how much we got for him and it's nowhere near the 400k figure people have plucked out of nowhere.

Even more disturbing is that we're probably using that money in our attempt to go bollocks out for Chris Maguire.

We've signed Simon Church on a 2 year deal according to the sun. He turned down Cardiff.
