Ben Gibson signing confirmed. Hasn't played much in recent times so probably won't be put straight into the squad on Saturday, especially with Farke usually liking to very, very slowly bed new signings into the team.

I'd make Norwich favourites as it stands.

So that’s 11 new signings, 26 outbounds for Norwich. Any chance the club secretary can get a day off?

Yeah, we're certainly Going for It this window, which is really unusual given how little we did in the windows last season. Though, we've not spent huge sums in doing so despite our parachute payments, with the £2.6 million initially paid for Hugill being the largest amount we've paid for any one player.

Other than maybe nabbing a few promising youngsters for the development side and getting in a back-up goalkeeper (as we only have two decent, trusted options as Barden is untested currently), I would assume we're just about done now unless we see some of the big names depart before the window shuts. Though, it so far seems that a combination of us playing hardball on their valuations and our terrible run post-lockdown last season has meant that nothing has materialised, whereas I think everyone at the club was expecting at least 3 big departures.

And speaking of departures, it looks like we're about to have one in the next day or two, as Newcastle have bid £13.5 million plus add ons for Jamal Lewis. Probably still some negotiation to go as we've not accepted yet, but is probably a matter of when not if this time (as Liverpool clearly used us to get that Greek full-back they actually wanted). Thankfully, we're well stocked at left-back even without Lewis as we have both Quintilla and McCallum in that position in obvious preparation for his departure.

And anything new on Max Aarons, for purely selfish reasons of course? Big £20m+ fee with sell on = kerching.

Annoyingly, I don't think we have a sell on fee for Lewis.

Its been unbelievable the full backs that have gone through our in the last 20 years - Emmerson Boyce and Kevin Foley if you go back to the 2000s. Then you have James Justin and Jack Stacey more recently; obviously you have Lewis and Aarons from our academy when Broughton and every else convinced them youngsters they had no future at a non league club. And right now we have Neufville, Jones, Beckwith who will definitely be pushing the first teamers in the next couple of years.

Some faint rumours about PSG being interested in him along with Bayern Munich, but nothing concrete as of yet. Though, his performance for the Under 21s last night may attract some domestic interest.

Fisher played in the Everton game yesterday and it's rumoured Callum Johnson is going to Pompey, really hope that means things are sorted and he's signing an extension.

Jayden Bogle and Max Lowe joining Sheff Utd.

I'm pleased that both of them got a decent move into the Premier League and at a reported £15m then it's pretty fair business.

Jayden Bogle was progressed from the U18 side into the first team under Lampard. He was obviously young and quite raw. He finished the season very strongly and rightfully won the young player of the year award. I think myself and most Derby fans have been quite underwhelmed by his progression this season. He seemed to take a step back and lost his place for a couple of games and was arguably quite lucky that injuries meant that he was able to get back into the side. I would say he's still progressing and has such a high upside that he could really take off at Sheff Utd.

Max Lowe has had a more tumultuous career at Derby. He was known entity playing for England schoolboys before he even became a scholar at Derby. He just never quite lived up to his billing, unfortunately. He had quite a few bad performances once he broke into the first team so never kept his place. He had a chance under Lampard, but (again) stunk it up and ended out on loan. He came back from his loan spell for the second half of the season, but (again) stunk it up and ended out on loan. He then came back and was in our first team, properly, for the first time this season. He started in 5 of the last 16 games so he's still struggling to hold down his place in the team. Nevertheless, he's a tidy footballer and a decent enough defender. I think he, well both, just have games where they get off to a slow start and then struggle.

I can see why Sheff Utd went for both players. We, of course, need the money to strengthen our attack. The first signing is expected to be Kamil Jozwiak, a 23 year old Polish international winger, who had been vehemently wanted by Galatasaray. It's always difficult to say what any signing will do - we've been strung pretty hard in the past with the ones we expect to make an impact falling flat on their face. It tends to be the ones who come in under the radar that make the best impact. I expect we will see 2-3 signings (including Jozwiak) this week. I have no idea whether any will play against Reading which means we are arguably due an opening day loss due to injuries/lack of bodies, etc. We were missing more than half our team against Barrow, playing an academy LB at RWB. We are working with an absolute paperthin squad at the moment.

We tried to sign Max Lowe last summer, supposedly Derby were open to selling but as per, our offer was shite.

Worked out well for him and Derby.

Signed Glen Murray the other day - probably a cheaper but older replacement for Deeney.

Is Deeney rumoured to be off anywhere?

West Borm and he thinks he can still do it in the Premier league.

Have to be a lot fitter than last season though.

Basically played on one knee.

Not his fault I guess - up to the manager to pick him or not.

Wycombe & Luton interested in Jacques Maghoma

Realistically Luton have more £££ than us and a better chance of staying in the Championship, I kind of feel that if we're having to compete directly with *any* club at this level for signings then we're going to lose out.

I personally think this is agent talk - we already have a number of wingers despite the fact we typically play quite a narrow system with the diamond. And with him being 32, he is definitely not a Jones-type signing. That said, he's been almost an ever present at this level for Birmingham until Clotet came in, so I guess he would be a good signing for most lower sides at this level.

Looks like AFC Bournemouth are now in for Cameron Carter-Vickers on a loan deal. They could blow us out of the water financially, so I'm sure Tottenham will want the team who pays the most wages / biggest fee to take the player.

Thank you parachute payments...

Just been listening to a podcast with our former defender Chris Coyne - he talked about kids coming from Premier League clubs into the Championship on £30-40k a week in a Porsche and how they should be grateful that they can earn a living in the game. He didn't really want to label Izzy Brown as such, but he said: "on his day unbelievable... he'd be a nightmare to mark... but some days it was like he's got a cuban in his mouth... our group wouldn't have stood for that."

Perhaps a little harsh, but I can see where he's coming from.

Brown came across as one of those who you need to build the team around, we weren’t in the position to be able to do that I don’t think but if someone does he has such talent he could be a top Premier League player but he’s quite a specific type of player, who to an extent you have to carry out of possession and we can’t do that.

Maghoma doesn’t sound like a Jones signing at all to me, not sure we need another wide player specifically and I think we are looking for younger now as well going from NJs interviews about wanting to add value to players. Could be making the classic mistake of trusting an NJ interview though!

Watkins going to Villa, fee bigger than thought last week, £28m rising to £33m.

Makes it:
Villa’s record signing
Record sale for the Championship
The sell on makes it the record for L2 too (beating the £6m for Nick Powell)

Going to really miss him but that’s a crap tonne of money for a club like ours.

In fairness, I doubt it really did. I believe your offer was around £1.5/2m.

Forsyth was coming off multiple career threatening injuries, albeit the most solid performer when he played. Malone was becoming a bit of a laughing stock with fans, although Lampard seemed to like him.
Buchanan was very much a CB in our youth team, albeit catching the attention of anyone that watched him.

Lowe had a really good loan spell with Aberdeen, but as I said he had two chances under Lampard and really did s**t the bed on both occasions. Last summer, he was really in a position to be fighting for the first team spot. He ultimately didn't win, with Malone getting the nod as Forsyth was still injured/coming off injury and Lowe on the bench. He ended up getting his chance at RB, once Bogle went down injured, where he played ok and then got his chance at left back around December/January time.

He only started 4 of the last 16 games at left back, with his other start filling in for Bogle after he had a nightmare performance. He, therefore, started in 4 of our 5 losses in that same time. He struggled to hold down a place in the team, although I did personally rate him more than both Lampard and Cocu. I would've had him as my starting LB in the team this season, had he not left, but Buchanan is showing immense promise and I expect he will eventually be given the chance. He's 4 years younger than Lowe. Forsyth, who really most expected to be finished after his second or third ACL injury, came in and played the most part in our rise up the table. He looks to have completed his first pre-season since probably 2016.

Lowe was going into the last year of his deal, obviously the combined fee was £15m (although it seems £11m plus fees) reading between the numerous reports. I would think that would point to Lowe being around £2m of that and Bogle £13m.

Fantastic financial news for you guys and for us too. I really hope Ollie does well for Villa and I’m sure Ivan Toney will be a good replacement.

I'm still very sceptical whether Toney will get anywhere near the tallies Watkins & Maupay did in previous seasons for Brentford. I'm just not sure if he's a top end player at this level.

We’ve just signed David Stockdale (GK). He’d been on loan with us before but must have taken a pay cut to sign as he was on Birmingham City money before.

I think he’s decent but would rather have seen an outfield signing - I just feel GK is the one position where it’s always pretty easy to get a quality loanee in the door if you run into trouble through injury or if your #1 stops performing.

At this level you need a quality goalkeeper, especially if you haven’t got the quality around the pitch and fighting at the bottom end. We found this out - Sluga in the first half of the season was costing us points but in the second half was a revelation.

Nathan Byrne looks set to be announced today. I really didn't expect any replacement for Bogle, with Wisdom and Te Wierik able to play there and a couple of promising academy players (Ebosele in particular). However, I'm glad we've managed to get a like-for-like replacement for Bogle. It's someone who is proven at this level, not to mention that he's someone who can provide a bit of creativity at times. Solid signing. I doubt the fee is going to be eye-watering.

Kamil Jozwiak also looks close to signing. The fee had been agreed, however Lech Poznan seemed to take advantage of his moment in the spotlight and put his price up. I imagine we have had to stump up more, yet this is a player who is extremely exciting. He made the front page of one Polish newspaper due to his performances in the last week, with some naming the heir to the Blaszczykowski's throne. We should be so lucky. I would take a high-end Championship consistent performer at this moment in time. He ticks the boxes of a few things we're desperate for, physically, so it would be great to finally see this one over the line. Fee looks to be between €4-5m.

Seems we can literally do fuck all until we get Nugent out of the door due to the 25-man squad rule and a bloated wage bill in general.

Byrne feels like a very good signing for the kind of fee Derby will be paying. Won’t be much of a downgrade from Bogle, but can pocket a fair amount of cash.

Sounds like George Hirst has been training with us this morning and subject to passing his medical, will join us on a season long loan from Leicester.

Local lad (David Hirst's son) who left Wednesday under a cloud, hope he can now progress his career with us.
If he works hard, he will get time on the pitch so it's a good deal for us and Leicester.

Bournemouth sniffing around Ben Davies, supposedly big £4m, rising to £5m and got told to do one. Seems they've moved on to Carters Vickers.

Rangers also want Daniel Johnson, omitted from Saturday's squad but back off the bench last night, praying we tie him down.
