Forestieri unsure of a move up North it seems. Still working on it but guess we might focus our attention on Limbombe soon. At least we're actually addressing our needs for a change.

Considering we have so much money to spend, and need to get in 3-4 players by the end of the month, it's gone very quiet in the rumours front for us...

Imagine Haller and Shoebesberger will still be near the top of our list, maybe Piesinger as well.

Those 3 plus a CB on loan to replace Bjelland and I'll be very happy.

The latest player on the merryground of strikers who are going to reject us appears to be Matej Vydra

Why don't you just go for Bradshaw? Young, hungry, ambitious strikers seems better and more likely to work than overpriced heroes who seem to need serious persuasion to think about heading down to the gate.

Clarke says that it would be unlikely for us to bring in Vydra too. Also hinted that given how mad the transfer market is for Championship strikers it would be very difficult to bring one in.

Hopefully we do, if we had a decent goalscorer (one capable of 15-20 goals) we would make the top 6-8 easily IMO. We're dominating games and then missing all of our chances.

A few people on our forum say we might be in for Vydra, very close to Watford, and a similar type of player to Gray. I reckon it would be a good loan signing for us, but unlikely to come off, just like every other club.

Thing I imagine's putting people off Bradshaw is his injury record. But yeah I agree with the principle. What I will say is the players we're targeting are young, and even though the fees are extortionate there is still the possibility of a sell on, which is the strategy now after lumbering ourselves with older players on big wages we couldn't offload last time we were up here.

And currently in that role we have Kodjia, Agard and young Wes Burns, which is a decent potential lineup but lacking in experience at this level. Given we do have options, the feeling is if we're going to get someone else in we want someone proven rather than another who will need to adapt. Problem is, as we've found out, players who are both young and proven cost an absolute bomb, and have much better options than to come here.

Personally, I'm not convinced we need another striker. CM and CB are much bigger priority positions. If we were to get one in I would prefer to look for the next Gray/Gayle etc, but that's the reasoning from the club.

Apparently Watford would prefer to sell him permanently rather than loan him. That's what has ruled out Forest and made us a more likely destination, so the rumour goes

We've bid for Vydra
Have you got injuries up top or just need to strengthen there? Nuhiu wasn't up to much yesterday...

Vydra would be a good signing for just about anyone in this league.

We're after Joao Teixeira from Liverpool apparently. Loan.

Butterfield it seems is quite close. We've supposedly met their valuation, but currently not offering as much up front as Huddersfield would like. Personal terms already agreed.

Didn't Vydra only just sign permanently with Watford this summer? Why would they sell him?

According to some posters on our forum, part of the loan deal was that Watford would sign him permanently this summer. All seems a little odd if you ask me although the team Watford signed him from is owned by the owners of Watford. Creative accounting maybe?

“But you could say that about every striker. They are all going to be difficult for us to get because every other club has more money than us.”

“Eight players I’ve brought in with a net spend of under £2 million. This is the reality. We have to find something, almost from nothing."

Doesn't sound too good, though Clarke still expects us to bring in 1-2 players next week.

If our spending has been less than £2m this Summer then I'm very impressed, brought in a lot of quality for that value. One striker and we're sorted.

So the final deal we got for Gray was £6.25m up front with a further £3.5m in add-ons and a 27.5% sell on clause. Obviously a great deal for us but we desperately need to use that money wisely this week, our squad is ridiculously threadbare at the moment.

I'll give it 5 years till we see the first £50million signing for a Championship club.

Football finances are fucked.

I love the quote that they want to help him continue him grow and develop his education that he has been on, like Brentford are some club that don't develop players, train or prepare, and just turn up for matches at the weekend.

Championship side Coventry City paid £6m for Craig Bellamy in 2001.

That transfer fees are getting out of control (or any more out of control, rather) is a bit of a myth. People are just sore that smaller clubs now have a bit of cash to burn.

Coventry signed Bellamy as a Premier League club in 2000. He joined Newcastle in 2001.

City bought Jon Macken off us for £5m in 2002 but that was when the ITV Digital money was in full flow.

Confused Bellamy with Hartson. Seems as if the latter only joined on a pay-as-you-play deal, which was quite a coup.

I think when you're already normalising transfer fees in the £3-5m bracket and wages that tally up to and beyond £1m a year for a single player before tax, it seems like a pretty desperate rationalisation to criticise 7, 8, 9, even £10m as being excessive. Owners are investing more, but then revenue streams are higher than they have ever been. The game is bloated and ugly and destined to eat itself from the inside out, but it seems like some people want to have their cake and eat it. You can't cry foul when you're already somewhat complicit in that greed.

Town will complete the signing of Koronie Kielce defender Piotr Malarczyk before the transfer window closes next week, according to reports in Poland.

The 24-year-old is understood to have a clause in the one-year contract he signed as recently as June which means he can move for 50,000 Polish Zloty, just over £8,500, although he is actually claimed to be worth around £350,000.

Never heard of him. Bargain, though. :£

Bolasie gone to Spurs for £20m, an extra £3m or so in our transfer kitty then, if Lansdown gives it to Cotterill.
