Gomes wants to play out from the back and all our keepers struggle with this. How is he with the ball at this feet?

Can't remember much to be honest pal, he only played 13 games and it was about 4 years ago. For what I do recall he kept Ikeme out of the team, and he was a good shot stopper, saved 2 pens in his short time with us.

If he's been at Arsenal for 9 years then I imagine he's better on the deck than most keepers at this level.

You like Villa then?

Never disliked them just dislike their way of trying to buy promotion. Same for anyone who does, it works for some but hopefully not most.

Still not managed to flog Grigg to Sunderland yet, should get done before the end of the window though. It’s going to be another of those deadline days for us when we sign about 4 players, we never learn.

Southampton, Man City, Spurs, Man Utd , Burnley, Cardiff all interested in Jack Clarke

it's like Will Hughes all over again, doubt we can convince the young lad to stay if we don't go up

You’ll have trouble getting him to stay if you do go up by the looks of it. Some proper big names after him there. First team football has its advantages though.

man city, spurs and man utd he would disappear into the reserves, Burnley, Southampton and Cardiff he has a chance at 1st team level

watching him is exciting, definitely the best talent we've produced in a while

Personally I don’t see you losing him. He seems like a proper footballing lad, so first team football will come before anything. Can’t see you not going up, although things are getting tighter at the top with West Brom threatening the top two.

think we can pretty much say we are gonna finish atleast 6th given the gap unless we do a complete bottle job, would have taken a play-off spot this season, haven't had one since league 1

still nervous on top 2

Looks like it, but a promise is a promise and at least he has some morals it seems.
Top order’s pathetic, luckily the convicts are in complete disarray otherwise I’d be dreading the summer.

A few pages ago you were having a go at Brentford for not spending enough.

No I wasn't I was saying it must be annoying as a Brentford fan never keeping hold of any of your good players and giving it a real shot at promotion for even just a year.

He seems happy with it, very strange. He might be the Brentford chairman

It seems to me that he's just realistic with his expectations, Brentford need to sell players to survive/ compete at this level.

I guarantee if it was the fans choice they wouldn't be selling their best players every year, but it isn't, it's a business and the businessmen make the decisions whether the fans like it or not.

Understand it's a bit of a different position for us than you guys, and totally get where you are coming from, not trying to pick a fight.

I'm happy when we do make money from a good sale as it means hopefully we'll have to do it less frequently in the future.

Spending loads of money and pushing the boat out for promotion is exactly what we're doing. We've made £100m from transfer sales in 5 years, but even despite that we've lost money overall. It just it looks a little different on our level than it does when bigger clubs do it.

Clarke would be underwhelming, regardless of his good season last year. Don't think he's featured much at all this year?

Aye, you've got to look at the bigger picture.

The transformation of Brentford, in the past 8 years or so, has been nothing short of remarkable.

New stadium being built, exceptional scouting network, selling players on for £10m+ making huge profits on said players, being able to buy players for £2m+, competitive at Championship level etc

It's a fantastic business model at the moment, and has worked a treat.

As you say, fans of the bigger clubs need to understand the mindset of the fans of smaller clubs.

What a Brentford fan, or PNE fan is happy with, is obviously going to be different to that of a Leeds, Sheffield United etc fan.

We'll probably sell a couple of our best players in the summer. I'm not happy with it, but I understand that it's necessary if we want to continue building in future.

I do understand where BM is coming from, but he supports a big club, so probably doesn't fully understand the mentality of a supporter of a smaller club.

It's difficult to articulate, but I'm sure you get my point.
