James Dunne is awful. Legs completely gone.
Was our “captain” until he got sent off and we just stuck him on furlough

Shaun Pearson is off to Grimsby supposedly. They offered him a 2 year deal when we offered 1.

Still a very good defender at this level for a team looking to go up, I'm pretty gutted to lose him but wouldn't have given him a 2 year deal after his recent injury woes.

Makes not offering Kelleher a deal look a bit daft though.

Nah we can get someone else in. I hope this rumour is unfounded as I'd like him to stay but everyone is replaceable at this level.

Don’t think we should have offered him a contract anyway really considering his age and injuries. Maybe we did but it was a silly one to make him leave in a way. It’ll still be sad to see him leave,

Kelleher is better but maybe he’s also got something lined up.

If we think we can do better than those 2 then we must really be Going For It.

Still a good leader but as slow as an old boat and injury prone and certainly wont be playing 40 games per season. If he does go for the 2 year contract would wish him all the best you are guaranteed 100% with Shaun

Kin hell don't say that or you'll have half of Stockport after you and Notts County fans paying for planes to fly banners over the ground.
Or did people only care about teams who were in the play offs furloughing folk? :D

I imagine we’re signing Pearson for more than just his abilities on the pitch tbh, he’s a great bloke off it and a bit of a cult hero. Hurst likes to build a dressing room of ‘characters’ and where better to start than one that can play a bit too

Thats the aspect of SP we'd struggle to replace.

He is a massive character not only at the club but around the town in general, everyone you speak to knows who he is. We won't be able to replace that.

Maybe this is the start of our 'new era' but until we sign some replacement CB's we won't really know where we stand.

Didn't particularly want to be signing ex players unless they were amazing, but like Lew says, Pearson is more than just a CB, it's everything he does off the pitch as well as on it that I suppose makes him worth bringing back.

When there was no football on, Shaun was out making deliveries for a local restaurant to bring in extra cash for his family. His work ethic is unbelievable.

I'm going to miss him for sure, but I am excited to see who we bring in.

Wait... someone has actually rejected the chance to stay a part of the Hollywood millions!?? And for f*cking cleethorpes aswell!!?

I thought Hollywood Red said no one could turn down the chance of being involved in the hotly anticipated documentary on that channel noones ever heard of!??

I will say one thing. Every single summer someone 'In the know' goes on RP and claims Pearson is leaving.

I can see him returning to Grimsby but its interesting that the rumours have come from Wrexham side and not Grimsby. Our club dealings have been water tight since the take over (compared to the WST which leaked like a sieve).

Was just about to post that as well. Good signing but we need pace at the back. Can't be playing Waterfall and Pearson together. Totally understand why the Wrexham lot don't want to lose him, but you were only ever borrowing him. Russell Slade did a lot wrong in his second spell for us but letting Pearson go was top of the list.

Welcome back home Shaun.

With a baby on the way (and his wife's family in Grimsby I believe?) and possibly a bit more job security I really can't blame him going back. Plus it's hard to stay mad at Shaun Pearson, a top bloke and can leave with his head held high.

Unlike Waterfall who left us under false pretences.

why not play Waterfall up front... he knows how to put the ball in the net - and it'll be harder to do that in the wrong one from the other end of the pitch.

Whilst he was settled in the area, his wife is expecting a third child and although moving is disrupting their immediate lifestyle, Grimsby is a lot closer to their families and support bubbles, and the security of a 2 yr deal would probably sway that as the one year deal with us may only delay the inevitable. He's probably kicking himself that he sold his old house now!

Lockdown has made us all evaluate our lives in one way or another, and I am sure we will receive a heartfelt message from the cap when he does sign for Grimsby

after 2 years he will be 34, where he may look at a coaching role instead, or take a step down in level to carry on playing, maybe for Boston, Gainsborough or the like

I loved Pearson and was gutted when he was wrongly released for Nathan Clarke *shudder*.
Fair enough he probably won’t play as much as he did before but as has already been said, he is such a great person to have around and provides some backbone to last season’s namby-pamby lot.

Does make me laugh reading the Wrexham forum on this and some saying he would be great to have in the documentary and that's a reason to offer him the same deal so he stays!

Since when did a bloody documentary become more important that what happens on the pitch.

Football fans haven't got a clue. Stupid things get said on Red Passion. Same on your forum, same on all forums.

It’s good to see you are signing players with furlough experience, in case it’s needed in future.

Innit.

Who would seriously read anything B2TF or OneDecentLester says on here and think that football forums are the fountain of football knowledge? None of us have a clue.
