Not likely unless its an FA Cup game or they become the next rich man's toy. Is that strange little bloke still hanging around?

Supporter owned so the latter won’t be happening.

As for the Raider - he’s a proper part timer.

You had your old ground robbed from under you years ago didn't you.

Aye! Even selling Lower Mead (before even getting onto PEPF) is a story in itself, groundsharing at Vicarage Road in the early 90s really should have seen the club fold.

Back onto transfer rumours, some of our supporters have genuinely fallen hook, line and sinker for a fake Twitter transfer account who said we were looking at Shamir Mullings (lol).

I'm fully expecting us to do a Dover/Macclesfield and do a lot of our summer business a week or two before it's set to get underway.

According to the Northern Echo we have offered Sterry a ‘lucrative deal’ ‘including accommodation’ (presumably Sven’s old flat by the river) - but with the likes of Sunderland and Bolton supposedly interested as well as Pools I can’t see it happening.

It’s an odd one, not even a position we particularly need strengthening. Makes me optimistic about the quality of our targets in the areas we do need, though.

I would be devastated if he moved to Notts, no offence but losing your best players to NL clubs (I've successfully erased the last 4 years from memory) would be a bitter pill.

He's said he wants to stay in the NE as he now has a kid so if Sunderland would kindly step aside then we'll have him and who the fuck are Bolton anyway? In all seriousness I doubt either of us will get him. We're allegedly in for Southam Hales which suggests Sterry is off.

Sterry would stroll into that RB/RWB position at Notts, he was and still is far to good to be kicking it about in non league, like Soup I'd be trashed if went down the leagues.

Oh he’s comfortably better than what we have for sure, but we’ve got two right wing backs (albeit one not signed on yet) who are perfectly decent for this level and literally no midfield at all, so if we were going to push the boat out anywhere, it’s not really a position that makes sense.

As I've said previously, the boy was an excellent performer in League 2 for us first spell and I reckon he'd do a job in League 1 too. Can't imagine him wanting to stay in non league myself. Had his unfortunate mental health problems with us second time around but he seemed a very driven lad who was very settled up in the North East. So I can't see him going to Notts...

MSH is on a contract - you won’t be able to afford the fee/his wages.

Absolutely scintillating stuff from GTFfish there. People say that he tries this kind of stuff too often, but when he's on form it's a joy to watch and I'm delighted he's contracted to the Grimsby fans for next season.

Jesus this is sickening. Is this what you Grimsby fans are always like? I might have to piss off to the north side of the forum if you’re gonna be like this all season

I’m a bit like the equivalent of Matt Green in that I get in a good effort about once in every 20 times.

Great, I'll do it more if it keeps you out of the main threads because you seem like a complete bellend. There's always a couple of weirdos from random tinpot clubs obsessed with us down here, was Gateshead and Lincoln before. Looks like one of them is gonna be you this time round.

I think most of his posts are purely tongue in cheek mate.

First rumbling of a rumour at EP this summer. Deal likely to be concluded for Ben Barclay from Accrington Stanley apparently.

I can't say I know a lot about him but he played 26 times in League One for Stanley last season so must be fairly decent.

He was quite good on loan for us when we got relegated from L2 a couple of years ago, although did get badly bullied by Jamile Matt in a 1-4 home defeat to Newport.

I thought he struggled a bit - Sam Stubbs was the one from that loanee partnership I really rated. I seem to remember Barclay getting sent off in a game at Crawley right near the end we desperately needed to win as well, for a ridiculous two-footed lunge. He was a kid playing in a team that was a total mess, mind.

Yes I remember the sending off, I thought he and Stubbs formed a decent partnership? They were very good in the win over Mansfield, as I recall. But then three days later both got badly bullied by Amond and Matt. We never quite recovered from that night tbh.
