It seems like somebody puts it on Twitter with no grounds whatsoever and then people jump on it, no chance whatsoever in my opinion.

P.s. I will happily have somebody quote this post to take the piss out of me when he joins us. ;)

Yes, that’s why I said wishful thinking

We’re set to sign Aaron Blair and let Darren McQueen go back to Darrford on loan. That will complete our up top options.

Angelo Balanta
Paul McCallum
Scott Wilson
Josh Walker
Aaron Blair

Not a bad set to have although Blair is very unknown and I don’t think he will feature too much unless we have bad injuries.

I think you'll be up there next season, you definitely underachieved last time.

I fancy you for the playoffs, but if the big boys (ourselves, Stockport, Notts, Chesterfield etc.) underachieve you could definitely have a go at the top spot.

Form the outside it looks very much that way but I just don’t see us troubling the very top spot, we have failed so far to replace Khan who went to Chesterfield and lack a commanding centre back which for me is a huge requirement at this level. I can see top 7 but I also see 10-12 teams who will be wanting that and are capable of that.

So bloody tough this year, we all missed out last season. I can’t see anyone running away with too many tough games on paper but this league is always full of surprises.

Yeah, agree with Rob. Wand of a left foot and very tidy. However, he's too weak and slow. Had a bad injury before us I believe, I seem to remember thinking he looked a bit scared, which I always attributed to said injury.
Slightly crocked but experienced is our thing. We always have players over 30 in our squad at Tranmere. 8 this season including Joe Murphy and Peter Clarke who will both be 40 by January 2022 when AFC Fylde are promoted 2 divisions to the EFL because it says so on their shirts.

Morgan Ferrier will probably be available soon when the Israeli club that bought him from us get fed up with his attitude.

its on, and also the quality of cars in the players car park is on the up it seems

PP told a fan in the queue yesterday that he still wants another 4 or 5 players in before the season

Sunderland fans are not bothered about him leaving.

David Sesay was very good with Crawley (signed by Kewell). Personally would have offered him another contract. His big problem is Phil Nevillism. Can play left back, right back or defensive midfield so a handy man to have on the bench.

Re Hope Akpan; in his spell with Crawley in league 1 he was great. Got a move up and did well for a couple of seasons but then the wheels seem to have fallen off. No idea what happened but I know Bradford fans are scathing about him.

His name has been branded about (by people who like to make out they 'know stuff'), along with a return of Vernam (out of favour at Bradford); doubt there is anything actually going to happen with either of them.
I’ll be personally quite disappointed if we didn’t invest in a player of the standard of the two mentioned. With the amount in player sales we’ve made already this season, I expect there to be some budget to bring in one (maybe two) marquee signings.

Not sure how true but this got shared in my fans group. Be nice to see him return personally as thought he was brilliant.

So in summary, the Vernam to Grimsby rumour was bollocks then?

I love that his initial response was to ignore the majority of what he said and just went “who’s Tshimanga”

Their squad is enormous, surely a few need to be moved on first.
We’ve got one hell on a transfer list but the squad isn’t ‘enormous’ even with those on the transfer list included

We won’t be signing Kyle Bennett after it was mutually agreed it would be ‘best for him to seek opportunities elsewhere’, according to an update just posted by Burchnall.

Oh and Ruben Rodrigues has Covid.

No he was a nostalgic signing. We now need a statement signing preferably a goalscorer as we haven't had one since Bogle left.

People slate Hurst for being defensive but if there is one signing we always seem to have under him it was a goalscorer, hopefully he finds someone if he hasn't already, because we haven't had anyone score 10+ a season in forever it seems like.

It was when we were in this league, it was his inability to secure somebody who even remotely looked like scoring in January that really hammered the nails in our relegation coffin. That fact really worries me going into this season because we’re running out of time and as it stands, we don’t have one goal scorer, never mind two.

True, and it was a failure to sign a goalscorer but that was also a time when we were under the silly budget cap that was scrapped soon after and he said in order to get someone in he had to let others go. Still he should have signed better than Payne who turned out to be worse than Green which is some going.

But we know he can sign players at this level in the past, question is can he do it now.

30 players officially in the squad but one is Sam Russell (GK coach), 4 of them are first-year pros, ones out on loan and another 6 have been told they can look elsewhere and haven’t been involved in pre-season in any capacity. Obviously players don’t just disappear but Hurst said in May that those excess players wouldn’t affect the budget for this year. Would expect 3-4 more signings before we’re finished.

I’m hoping that we’re quiet atm as we’re holding out for a big name but been disappointed too many times so expecting us to sign a PL youngster when the loan market gets properly up and running.
