Wrexham long throwing and hoofing their way out of the division after getting in glamour owners from Hollywood.

Fantastic shithousery from the North Wales based outfit.

Rumour on our forum that we had an offer accepted for Charman but he’s chosen Rochdale.

'Charman remains with Quakers, despite a League Two club this week making an offer that met his release clause. The in-demand striker spoke to the club, but turned them down.'

Interesting update from the local paper on Charman. Not sure who the club was thats been knocked back was. Bradford and Rochdale were the strongly rumoured L2 sides.

RE Mingi, it looks like we could potentially use his break clause that he has in his loan to Maidenhead. common sense would be take him on loan for the remainder of the season and see where we are come May

We are trying to tie up Danny Rose from Grimsby on loan to end of season, or permanent. Been decent since he arrived. With Jake Lawlor and Jake Cooper returning to the Hangers and Rotherham respectively, we are on the lookout for replacement CB's - anyone got a Jake that would fit the bill? We have got David Wheater training with us after an operation.

Apparently he looked rubbish in the game Parkinson went to on Tuesday. Guess it doesn't matter if he's up top, acting as a big lump and winning headers for Mullin to chase on to. If Harrogate can go up with Mark Beck playing that role then we can go up with Palmer playing that role.

Truly champagne football being planned at the Cae Ras.

How's Lawlor done?

You could probably keep him for the rest of the season, he was a Challinor panic buy, played about 8 minutes for us and it was upfront.

Lawlor has been good, admittedly I wouldn’t think he’s FL standard but certainly good in the air and solid enough along the ground to be a decent NL and a very good NLN player.

rumours are we thought we’d sorted the loan extension till the end of the season pre-Christmas, but we wouldn’t let Raj talk to Charman so he pulled the plug on it. Not sure how true it is but given how far he’s likely to be from your first team and we were likely covering a good part of his wage seems odd not to extend.

We need a targetman type striker to go with Mullin seeing as Parkinson insists on playing 3-5-2 and nothing else.
Target man is probably pushing it for Oliver, his all round game is pretty poor. He's be nowhere near L1 level, perhaps not even L2 if he was being played on his footballing ability.

He's not a Brodie, Rhead, Akinde, Quigley etc type who have/had a bit more to their game.

As I say though, his ability to jump about 9ft in the air and simply get his head onto anything is a decent option to have if used well.

We are again apparently. Fylde as well.
That’s probably us priced out then. Fee is one thing but I can’t see us competing wildly wages wise if Cardwell is going to come in and sit on the bench.

Personally I’d rather we went out and got a talented CAM in to replace Danny Rowe and Jack Clarke. Replace the two of them with one standout player who can sit behind Tshimanga and Asante.

Anything else on Roberts at your end? Burchnall pretty much turned it into a joke when asked, but I’m still not convinced he’s entirely happy at the minute. Mind you, if pissing him off delivers some more hat-tricks then who cares.

I'm still surprised Lawlor ended up in the FL. He was pretty good for us alongside Pearson in his first season, he struggled at times in his second (largely when Pearson was injured) Definitely got some clangers in him- he's a fairly solid Mid level National League/NLN level player.

£180k for Palmer is absolutely mental but aside from the price tag he'd be a better all round option for you than Oliver.

Palmer can do a bit of everything, but is average at it all rather than having a specific attribute you can pin him down to. He's not a target man type as such, he didn't win many headers here despite his height but he holds the ball up ok, isn't particularly fast but equally isn't slow either, strong and is probably good for 10 goals or so a season. He had a bit of a purple patch at Crawley, which got him his L1 move but those two seasons were outliers.

Over the 18 months he was here under the Cowleys, he improved a fair bit. The only problem we found with him, and it was to his credit really, was that he'll never move anywhere to sit on a bench. As soon as it was apparent he wasn't going to start games and get enough game time, he asked to leave (not a transfer request per se). Money isn't really an issue for him either, I'm pretty sure his parents are worth a bit.

I would say it’s dead in the water. Rowe won’t want to spend silly money and it sounds like unless we cough up - what - 6 figures for Roberts then Notts won’t consider it?

Burchnall made it out was ‘well below’ your valuation but that could just be posturing and trying to appease your fans.

Rowe’s policy on signings has mostly been bringing people in from either NL or NLN/S clubs, and with the exception of Tshimanga, Oyeleke and Danny Rowe I can’t see most of our players being on big money.

Not even just six figures, I’d say £250k probably and we would have to think about it, but even then probably not to a team in our league right now. Under no pressure to sell because of his contract situation.

I’m hoping you’ve inadvertently managed to wake him up with a bit of controversy.

Didn't he score 17 goals in L1 last season? That's not bad, regardless of what his 'ability' is. If he's effective with his style in L1 then he'll probably be even more so in this crap league.

I'm not sure Richard Brodie ever even played League football in his career so he can't have had that much to his game.

Dead in the water then - there’s no way we would pay that sort of money when realistically when Jack Clarke is back in the summer he will be competing for that starting spot. I’d imagine if we have made a bid it’s likely been somewhere between a third and half of that amount.

Wrexham doing what I do on Football Manager in the Conference North and finding a guy with a long throw then doing a striker search filtered by ‘over 6ft2’.

Around there I think, yeah.

Agreed, it's all about being effective at what he brings to the side and you can't fault him from that point of view because he's very good at what he does but for that to happen, you've got to make him pretty central to what you're doing and go all in on that sort of style like Gillingham have and Northampton did. Otherwise you end up with a player who doesn't really bring much to the table like his Crewe spell albeit they're a pretty extreme example in terms of style.

I liked him here, we had him as a young lad just released from Wednesday. Top notch attitude, will always give 100% and is a nuisance.
