I'm still scatching my head why either us or Stockport didn't go for Tshimanga in the summer. Although whether he'd be as effective for anyone else as he is for Chesterfield I'm not sure, their system obviously suits him.

Definitely a blunder signing Jake Hyde when Tshimanga was available. Maybe we only wanted to spend the big bucks on proven league players, as that's where most of the money appears to have gone. We paid a fee for Jake Hyde but it was probably something ridiculously low like 20k, as Halifax were probably happy to get him off the books in the end with his injury record.

That isn't a dig at Hyde's ability which he clearly has, but his injury record is atrocious. Pointless having anyone like that in the squad.

I'll just add to this, that having seen both strikers this season I would take Wootton over Tshimanga in our team. We obviously don't need a replacement for Mullin but we're desperate for a decent striker partner. Hyde does a good job when fit but only plays 0.4 games per season.

I’ve not seen much of him to be honest, we’ve not played Ches yet this season and I can’t remember much from when he was at Boreham Wood. Anyone whose main threat is running in behind and working the channels would struggle in our team though.

It’s all relative ain’t it, very hard to compare players from teams with different styles. Rodrigues is a good example actually, he’s a brilliant footballer, as technically gifted as you’re going to find in the lower leagues over here. But he’d probably struggle to make a huge impact in any other team in the division, just as he did here when we had a more traditional manager who wasn’t sure what to do with a mercurial Dutch/Portuguese lad without a proper position. Stick him at Bromley and he’d have no idea what was going on. Stick Cheek in our team and the game would completely pass him by. Both are really good players despite this.
