He’d downed tools by then. He played 2 full seasons and won player of the year for the division in both seasons. Incredible player
I must say if I have a misgiving it's that the last time he was at this level, he got like 6 in 20 odd which is hardly inspiring. But if there's reasons for that I'm happy to gloss over it!

He seems the sort who always wants to be the main man. Will he be at Chesterfield? They aren't quite as tinpot as Fylde. The fact he's been signed with a fanfare at both Oldham and Bradford and then only lasted half a season at both speaks volumes.
Asante’s injury will make him the main man 100%

It’s a good signing on paper, but I don’t remember a clamour to sign him/collective feeling of missing out when it was clear he was leaving Fylde and ended up at one of L2 lesser lights, and a basket case to boot (no offence to any Oldham fans reading).

Still, I would have taken him at ML, would have been a decent alternative to Wootton, who has gone off the boil somewhat lately.

Doubt we’ll be touching any signing like this now the Danes have got their feet under the table. Probably sensibly.

Are you taking the piss? He’s a better goal scorer than anyone in this division.

I'm hoping he isn't a disruptive prima donna or whatever and there's perhaps legit reasons why it didn't work at those places? He'll be the main man for the next 9 months at least I'd thought. Great signing on paper and that's all we have to go on at this point. Like all new players though judgement is out until he produces on the pitch

Hes never made it at a decent club, but then again he may just have been unlucky. Didn't the Bradford manager who signed him leave pretty soon after?

If he's on form he's top drawer. A bit slower than you'd want, but great feet and an excellent shot.

Alright Danny
Ha ha ha he shouldn’t have gone to Chesterfield. They’re already doubting the greatest goal scorer I’ve ever seen in non league. You Wrexham lot know about him. Tell them. The guys a god

Alright angry angryson, was just wondering what happened that last season that's all

Is that a veiled 'chesterfield are a decent club' half compliment I detect there? :ohm: fwiw I think Wrexham are a proper side too

Not an ounce of doubt about Rowe’s ability from me and many other chesterfield fans I can assure you of that.

His record speaks for itself... play to his strengths and give him service = goals

I'll sing his praises when he scores goals in a town shirt, and not before. Fantastic signing on paper and like I said before, credit to everyone who made it happen, but I'm long enough in the tooth to know these things don't always work out just they seem to on paper. Withholding judgement is the way forward

Very true to be fair. Chesterfield are going to have a serious go at it next season. Already got Asante, signed Rowe who’s incredible at this level and Rowe the manager. Your manager has done a superb job so far.

No argument from me mate, from where we were to now under Rowe has been nothing short of a fucking miracle.

Stockport County.
Fyldefan was raving over Jordan Williams in the summer and he's terrible.

I've seen Danny Rowe play for us years ago at this level. Quality strike on him and will get goals if the whole team is fit to work around him would be my assessment. But this is years go. And yes he did seem to score a fair amount against us with Fylde but a fair bit of that was down in the North wasn't it?

Yeah true stocky, he was our second best player probably so I thought he was really good. We got relegated though so he can’t have been that good. Thought he would have done better for you thought

Rowe on £5k a week for 3 seasons for a 32 year old..What a bargain!

I'd be astonished if he's on even half that. Anything behind that, or did you just pick a number that sounded big?
Standard stuff from Hollywood Red. Can’t stand to see any other team spending a few ££ but hasn’t stopped bleating on about how Wrexham are gunna spend ‘millions’ and ‘walk this league’ next year. Make it make sense

Another completely made up figure, embarrassing

Ah I see, its been reported that he was on this at Bradford. I doubt that (although you never know with Bradford). I particularly doubt he will be on that at Chesterfield.

I see someone on your website is claiming that some of your signings are on 500 quid a week. I don't believe that either.

As for us, we aren't going to spend lavishly, not on wages anyway. Although Its possible our wage bill could double? We spent about 1m on player wages at the start of this season, which isn't enough to challenge the top.

Stones transfer business for next season is already underway. At last weeks Zoom call with our Chairman, he advised that a couple of new players have already agreed terms for next season, just not been announced yet. I know the management team have been looking for a striker and were in talks with someone, so potentially that's one of them.

Paul Hurst on Giles Coke:

“I do think he’s done well, and I do like him as a person. I like some people that can’t kick a football as well, but they won’t be getting contracts.

“I think he’s just the right type of character, but I’ve got to look at the whole picture, and some of that is obviously linked to budgets and other things, and what you can and can’t do.”

LOL at the bold bit. The local rag lead with a picture of Matt Green for this story.

This is off the back of this pearler a month or so ago “You can put a dog on the pitch and it will run around, but you won't do very well with 11 dogs."

Regarding Coke, I hope we don't bring him in. We can do better, especially if we're keeping Harry Clifton who will fill the CM runner role.

Not far off though, unless things have changed. I'd argue that a £2M budget in this division is lavish. Plenty of teams go up with a budget closer to the £1M, don't they?

Also, he was definitely on about that at Bradford, it's been confirmed. The most important rule of posting in the League Two forum is that any wild speculation about massive wages at Bradford is absolutely correct.

1m spent wisely can get you up, but you have to be lucky with injuries because it won't get you a huge squad.

2mil is lot. 1.5m should be enough to get a mix of quality and depth. You also shouldn't be needing to spend money to buy players, although Chesterfield seem to have forgotten that.

Yea that's true to be fair, I mean Bradford would have probably accepted magic beans and a promise of a kiss if we'd asked nicely

£2m a year isn't sustainable either unless you're massive like Luton or your owner is filthy rich and not for leaving like Fleetwood or Forest Green. £1.5-2m is probably sustainable for ourselves, Stockport and Notts County. Ourselves and Notts County because we'll both have good revenue streams going into next season and Stockport because of their rich owner who seems to be buying into the model.

Grimsby and Southend might be able to compete financially because of their parachute payments. Hartlepool have a very good manager in charge who could probably get them up on a budget of £1m, but I'm not sure what Chesterfield are playing at. If they don't go up this season surely they'll be in a world of trouble.
