Cheltenham with their daily briefing on the Tozer thing. They simply can't stop giving interviews about it. This after the chairman virtually did his own podcast on the saga yesterday.

Cheltenham Town boss Michael Duff:

Reporter: "Have you spoken to Ben about the situation?

Duff: Yes, I've had a few chats with Toze. Me or him aren't in control of the situation. Keep performing, do the right things and we'll see what happens."

If the 120k is true he isn't worth anymore then that. I wouldn't of gone to as much as that personally

The chairman was an interview on Radio Gloucestershire, and Duff's interview was after the game last night (in the League Cup, remember when Wrexham could play in that?) when he was asked the question by journalists.

Hardly the club releasing statements.

This whole Wrexham having money thing confuses me. Is every club in the lower divisions supposed to cower to the mighty Wrexham because you're suddenly able to throw money around like it's confetti? Is every lower league player desperate to play for the Mighty Wrexham because you suddenly have money?

In effect, aside from the history, Wrexham are no different to Forest Green, Salford, Rushden and Diamonds, etc, etc... Enjoy it, God knows you deserve a bit of luck, but don't expect every club to back down the moment you come knocking with the chequebook out.

We can afford to overpay. It sounds like he'd suit our system perfectly so why not go after him?

‘We can afford to overpay’ is such a dangerous precedent to set yourself as a 5th division football club.

It must be great to be on the start of the ride but does it not concern you that your two owners who have absolutely no clue about football are being advised by Shaun Harvey’s mates?

People need to give a Wrexham a break IMO. Let them spend a bit of money. There poor fans that turn up in there thousands, to watch that shower of shit in the national league (for the past 20 years) deserve a bit of fortune. I’m team Wrexham. Go the Hollywood Reds!!!

You seem to forget that we have sold over 6000 Season Tickets that will be over 1.5 million in the bank .Hence we are able to spend some money in the transfer market

We never seem to get a mention anymore with these money clubs, now that we’ve been relegated. We must be turning into a proper club

Depends how much we're overpaying by really, if we genuinely don't think we can do better for the money it's definitely worth pursuing a player who would fit the system perfectly if we can afford to. Our ST sales and sponsorship deal probably means we can.

We've gone through far too many years of being skint and shite, so I'm going to enjoy us throwing money about for the time being.

It does seem to get forgotten that if you're averaging over 5000 per match it gives you a fair bit of extra income over teams with a smaller support base before owners add to it.

We’ve got some fruit machines and a jukebox in our clubhouse hence why we afforded McCallum last summer.

Is there any lower league club Wrexham won’t have beef with by the end of the season??

I’m no accountant but selling a few thousand season tickets doesn’t quite cut the sheer amount of money you’ve spent.

Don’t get me wrong, of any of the ‘big spenders’ I hope you’re the ones who come out on top (behind us of course) but I personally think there are some major red flags already.

Season ticket sales (over 6000)
Major Sponsors
Shirt and merch sales
Documentary fee (rumoured to be up to 300k per episode)

Don't underestimate the draw of celebrity.

To be fair mate, all the noise on this is coming from your end. We only know that we are in for Tozer because Cheltenham keep telling everyone we are.

You are not expected to bend over just because we knock on the door, but if you wanted to keep him, and he wanted to stay, then this would have been dismissed.

In all likelihood, your trying to save a bit of face and get a little bit more money....sounds like we have come back with a third and final bid which I expect will probably secure the deal, rumour is about £135k but it will be undisclosed so I doubt we will know for sure.

Aren't you on TV tomorrow evening? I think your line-up will probably give us the final answer if we don't hear before then. I would think both teams would want an outcome before the game.

The Cheltenham chairman is picking out his best suit ready to deliver the latest exclusive Tozer update on Sky Sports News.

It's odd that all the news is coming from our end, but all the leaked news of bids seems to come from Wrexham fans.

From what I've seen - it was announced on Sunday that Wrexham were interested, this rumour was confirmed by our local journo. Duff had a pre-match interview on Monday and it was confirmed. On Tuesday, the chairman gave an interview to the local radio station, and then after the game on Tuesday night, Duff was asked about it again. That's the sole talk of it from our end.

Duff will have his pre-match press call for tomorrow's game today and I suspect he'll be asked about it again.

I'm at a loss at how we're telling all and sundry about it.

A "few thousand" is actually 6,000 and counting (up from the usual 2500) at a very conservative average price of £250 = £1.5M.

The TikTok partnership alone is £2.1M (coincidentally that's 3 Million dollars bang on $$$), which is almost 3 times what Ivor Williams where paying for the shirt last year, and they are still paying the same or close to it to sponsor the shorts....add the Aviation sleeve sponsor and Expedia back of the shirt.

THEN you have the money from the documentary, I can only imagine what they are paying for a story that has already gained huge exposure and will heavily feature R+R.

All of the above is before even touching on any personal money from McElhenney and Reynolds, they have already shown this when they gave Dean Keates money in January before they even owned the club!

Long story short, we can afford to pay Cheltenham an extra 50k for there captain if it is player we really want.

They put £2m into the club's bank account when they took over also.

Most of our info is coming off twitter from some Non league transfer user who claims to be 'ITK' and from a journalist down your way called Jon Palmer(?) We are just jumping on that, which could be nonsense but seems to be backed up by the reaction from your end.

My honest opinion is he is more likely to sign for us then stay with you, but he seems like a total pro and if we don't meet your demands he isn't going try and force it so it is down to the two clubs to find a deal they can both live with......I hope that we are working on other targets in the meantime.

Id imagine he wants to come. At 31 a three year deal on the likely wages we are offering is too good to turn down. But I get the impression that if Cheltenham really don't want to sell and put their foot down he will accept that, seems a loyal guy who no doubt appreciates being valued there.

Need to draw a line under it for all parties really. If he's coming don't before the weekend. If he's not coming we need to move on to our next target and Tozer and Chelts could do without the disruption I'm sure.
