Can someone get some Xanax shipped over to Nottingham please, think they're about to start getting a bit twitchy over the next 10 days or so...

...keep these Rodrigues articles coming please. Definitely no other players doing a similar role as well as him at Blundell Park.

Fully expecting some kind of bid before the window is out, but one good thing about us having loads of games off is he’s barely played lately with having a ban as well, so hasn’t really stood out. We’ve scored 13 in the last four and Ruben hasn’t got any of ‘em, hasn’t scored in the league for two months. The vultures seem to be lining up certain others in this league first.

Up until he injured his hamstring a month ago he was our best player this season, very good delivery, workrate and defensive awareness. Chipped in with goals as well, hoping we can renew his contract as it was only a one year deal.
It's funny as when we first had him he was very promising, then his attitude tailed off badly and in the end no-one was sad to see him go. It didn't help that he insisted on taking every free kick within 30 yards of goal and put 99% of them into the stand.

Ironically you've temporarily replaced him with Dan Moss who has come straight from a 6 month loan spell with us. He won't give you the same attacking play but is a top notch RB and his attitude is brilliant. I can't speak highly enough of him, you've got a fantastic player there.

Bit of a random one, but it seems we might be taking a punt on striker Ben House from Eastleigh, who's out of contract in the summer. There were whispers a few days ago that we could make a bit of 'project' signing, not one with a view to this, or necessarily next, season.

Notice he had a loan spell at Dagenham Leewilson?
That is quite a punt. I think he's a good striker at National League level. However, I wouldn't say he's anywhere ready for League 1. Would happily have had him back and he'd get 10-15 a season in the National League. But yeah, League 1 is a different beast and I wouldn't say he's shown enough to jump up one league, let alone two.

Hearing the whole of the Notts County squad are up for grabs as none of them can get a start.

JR has been bribing clubs to issue late postponements to Notts in a bid to frustrate Cal Roberts into joining us.

There must be something going on. We’ve played four league games in the last 59 days!

Ahh Red Passion, the last bastion of sensible football opinions. We are basically bigger the Newcastle though. Honest.

Ollie Palmer to Wrexham is on.

Stockport making a move for Tom Elliott of Salford, according to the usually reliable Reluctant Nicko on Twitter. Pretty sure he bagged the winner for them at Vale last week?

Where will it end!

He's played for us before at I think this level and nobody really liked him from I remember, County wasn't my main focus at that time of my life so I can't say either way but he's gone on to have a pretty good career.

I liked him.

Wasn’t very good under Didi Hamann but once Gannon got hold him he was our best player to help us stay up. Losing him and replacing him with Hobson was one of the main reasons we were so terrible the next year.

Would be good back up/competition for Quigley.

Didn't get to County much during that time but I do remember a load of our fans whinging about him so had him down mentally as shit but then he seemed to rise through the leagues, League One with Wimbledon even played a bit in the Championship with Millwall. It was probably our fans who were wrong.

Some of our fans have a habit of getting on strikers backs. I remember Dicko was ridiculed loads of times as a "donkey" etc before he really hit his straps in 07-08. Madden gets stick near where I sit at home games even now although it has died down a lot since Challinor.

He’s a black targetman who wasn’t prolific and was a bit unsteady on his feet so you can imagine why some got on his back.

Under Hamann he also wasn’t very good but he was probably the closest we got again to prime Dicko under Jim and as you say went up the leagues and he got older and better.

We’ve got to be realistic when we’ve spent so much on Quigley and Madden are we know they are first choice.

Repeating what others have said but Ollie Palmer is a done deal at around 200k it seems.

Surely this can’t be sustainable? You must have spent nearly a million in transfer fees alone since the American’s came in. I get that they’re minted, but surely there’s going to come a point when Reynold’s wakes up and wonders why he’s spending 200k on a bang average League 1 striker, particularly when promotion is looking unlikely for you lot this season?

We haven't spent anything like that, nearer £400k I would guess. Hayden, Hyde & Tozer are the only players we've paid a fee for I think.

It's been done to death but we're getting 8k fans at home games and have some crazy money sponsorship deals. I doubt R&R have put anything in since the £2m they bought the club for.

It’s still reckless spending though isn’t it? The fees your paying for players that have absolutely 0 resell value as a result of their age just makes them a complete non investment?

I remember when they first took over there were loads of Wrexham fans on here banging on about how they’re going to be ‘doing it properly’ building from the ground up. But spending these types of fees on 30+ year olds stinks of desperation, and I just don’t get it. There are plenty of good players at this level that would cost a fraction of the price and are 1) Younger with room to grow, and 2) as a result of the first point, would be assets with potential resale value

I agree. Tozer and potentially Palmer for that type of money make no sense to me. He's not exactly a prolific goal scorer.

It's not how I would do it at all.

It’ll partly be down to who you appointed. Wasn’t your new CEO from Burton? Parkinson has been in League One for years, likes of Reed and Harvey supposed to be involved. They’re all going to be good at what they do, but they don’t ‘know this level’. I don’t mean that in a bullshit the football is completely different sense (our guy from Sweden isn’t doing too badly), but there’s no one there that has the knowledge of players at this level who you should be going for.

You could give the fees you’ve spent on Tozer, Hayden, Jones and now Palmer to anyone on here and they’d be able to tell you six or seven players in their early 20s who are going to play much higher up the leagues that you could get and probably still have plenty of change.

I mean I liked Palmer when he was here but the 450k Wrexham are spending on him could be put to much better use IMO.

Again can't argue with any of that. They do have this obsession with buying League One players it seems. Most of the players we've brought in were from League One.

We could definitely be hoovering up some talent at this level, getting good players and also weakening rivals.

Tozer 200k, Hayden 180k, Hyde 50k

I agree with people saying we have overspent on the players we have paid for but we you looked at the 2mill original investment, record shirt sales, big crowds, big sponsorship deals and the documentary we've spent little of what we've made

I felt the same about our recruitment. Not that I’m bothered about what League we get players from but I want the majority of our players to be able to grow with us/have resale value.

I think we’ve got better over time with that and I’m guessing you guys will too.
