4/6 is great odds for the Walsall win. £500 stake and it’s an easy £333 profit.

Honestly with the way we defend and the rate Walsall score, this could be silly, 6 or 7 silly. Wimbledon put 4 past us on our last away trip, but it probably would have been double that if they hadn’t eased off after 50 minutes.

Walsall 6-0 Carlisle United

Fair play to any blue travelling to this on a Tuesday night after what we served up last time out on the road.

On a good run and we're up against a side in poor form, which usually only ends up one way for us. Normally I'd say loss but reckon we'll get our fourth win on the bounce. Hopefully.

Really tricky game for us at Harrogate. They’ve had a couple of really impressive wins so far against Doncaster and Bradford so are more than capable of turning us over as well. Be nice if we could finally get a win on a Tuesday night which hasn’t happened in god knows how long in the league but if it’s a point I’d be content with that too.

Would expect maybe a bit of squad rotation which seems to be Moores way of doing things.

Cheltenham away -

It’s these types of fixtures where we generally struggle. Cheltenham picked up a decent win at Colchester yesterday, which will fill them with confidence going into this one. We’ve loaned them Sam Stubbs, who from what I can gather, has been solid for them so far. With him missing, it might be a big loss for them here - especially with Cook in fine form.

The team pretty much picks itself at the minute. Jay Benn missed yesterday due to illness, so there’s a debate to have whether him or Brad Halliday starts, but other than that, it’s as you were.

GK: Sam Walker

CB: Chicke Diabate
CB: Niall Bryne
CB: Jack Shepherd

RWB: Brad Halliday
LWB: Tyreik Wright (if fit)

CM: Ritchie Smallwood
CM: Jamie Walker
CM: Clarke Odour

ST: Callum Kavanagh
ST: Andy Cook

Desperate to see Kav get a goal, as he’s that type of player who’ll probably go on a goalscoring run. I’d like to think we’ll have too much for Cheltenham on Tues - 3-1 City (500 Bantams).

F***ing ell, ok guys we get it you put a negative spin and pessimistic view pre game no matter who you are playing.

Walsall, Bratfud, Vale and Donny back to back after the only legitimate pessimism from the Carlisle fan.

It's so cliché it hurts.

Travelling over to The Wirral.
Tranmere got a good away win yesterday at struggling Bromley. Grimsby, despite winning 3 on the bounce away, are expected to struggle. Record at Prenton Park not the best iirc.

Is the Fan Park still open to away fans? - enjoyed it in there last time. Better than the game anyway

Walsall are for me the best team in this league and are absolutely spanking teams for fun right now and they're up against us who have the worst defence in the league and a poor attack, so I'm going for..

Walsall 7-0 Carlisle

Whether it's that or a 1-0 win for them there's not a cat in hells chance we're getting anything out of this one.

Ok Viking, I'll give positivity a go. We've a decent record at Barrow, are unbeaten away so far and think we can get a point at least.
Or, the whittle arse fan in me says we're not playing great and are due an away loss. It's tough this positivity malarkey.

No idea how we’ll get on, but anyone going to Barrow away on a Tuesday evening should be getting 10 loyalty points.

Whether Tyriek Wright is fit or not, surely Lewis Richards deserves to keep his place in starting line-up. Much better defensive awareness than Wright. Just don't understand why Alexander persists in trying to convince himself and everyone else that Wright is a wingback. He is an out and out winger and very poor defensively.

Tough away game in a Tuesday this. Would be very very happy with a point.

Still don't think we are entirely convincing. Jones is a huge player for us. Unlikely McGoldrick will play twice within a few days. We may see the lesser spotted Javani Brown make a start

That’s funny coming from you

It’s idiots like you who have the team they deserve. Ah it’s all good because we have a transfer window coming. Fuck off!

Harrogate away, bit of an odd one as they’ve beaten Bradford and Doncaster at home but also been hit for 5 twice and lost to Bromley in their own back yard so seem to be a bit inconsistent.

We are the best team away from home in the division and after winning at Notts and MK should be confident but this is where we could slip up if not on the ball…

Ended the Blue Third kit curse and the supposed Manager of the month one, but can we end the Tuesday night curse that sees us winless in well over 20 league games spanning back to April 2022!

Big game, tough game on a tight pitch which is where we’ve struggled and would be good to make it 4 wins on the spin and 10 unbeaten, huge weekend next weekend at Vale Park with the John Rudge statue and celebration around that, to go into that top of the tree would be fitting but we have to be on it and treat Harrogate exactly the same as Notts/MK etc it will be just as tough to get a result.

Expect we will make changes, probably Henneghan to deal with the more likely physical challenge we will face and think Curtis and Tolaj may come in here.

We generally always struggle on tight pitches. I think it's because our pitch is big but we've historically struggled. I'm hoping big Daz has a tactical masterplan like he has recently.

I think it's fair to say that we have better players than Harrogate, but they'll close that gap through workrate. So we just have to work as hard as we have in the last few weeks and the quality should shine through.

I keep expecting us to slip up, as it's the Vale way, but hopefully we're different this year.

Would be great to go into a weekend of celebration at the top of the pile.

I get you, there's something not quite right / convincing that I can't put my finger on, maybe Maynard needs to start shaving his head and wearing zip up cardigans:)

We have been convincing at times and far from convincing at others. Regardless, overall I think we deserved 21 points so far this season and we have 22.

I was expecting a lot less but Maynard has surprised me and proved me wrong to date.

5 draws at home in a row. We’ve gotta start winning at home sometime…

Naylor back, no doubt Cook will make changes

Have a feeling Colchester will come very much in the same mould as Cheltenham, Salford & Swindon with 0 intention of opening up & playing, & looking more to stifle us and be effective on counters/set pieces. Up to us to find a way to win this time round..

I agree that Cook will likely make changes, but I think it’ll only be 2, max 3. Can see Grigg & Naylor returning to the XI for sure.

He's done better than I expected in all fairness to him. He's been helped massively by the recruitment team but he gets the blame when we lose so he deserves fee of for doing well.

They absolutely stunk the place out at ours. 10 men behind the ball, zero intent to even try and attack and a range of actors that would make DiCaprio jealous. They only started actually playing a game of football once they went behind.

Honestly one of the most disgusting performances I've seen from an away team at Vale Park for many a year. The chief actor scored the equaliser, and instead of celebrating with his supporters who had done a 400 mile round trip on a Tuesday night, ran over to antagonise home supporters instead. I would have been seething as a supporter after that joke of a performance.

They lost at the weekend, so expect the same sort of stuff.

At the risk of sounding like I'm due a lobotomy, I almost fancy us to turn the form book inside out at Walsall. The best attack in the division against the worst defence? Surely it can only go one way, you say...
