Although Luke Shaw has been pulling out of the U-21's since his Southampton days. Once his senior career got started he didn't have a lot of time for this level and joining last years World Cup squad hasn't helped with that attitude. I wouldn't say he's a key player for this team, as he's hardly played in it. Of course it would be great to have a player of his ability and experience at such a young age, but then you'd also say that it would be great to have the likes of Sterling, Barkley, Chamberlain and even Wilshire and Jones in there. But sadly and wrongly, they just aren't interested.
Which is why I don't really have a negative opinion about RLC being included. Almost certainly will be one of the fall guys of the 4. I imagine with Targett, Afobe and Woodrow. Just Southgate looking at a few players he hasn't seen much of.
How Cauley Woodrow can even be mentioned in the same breath as Benik Afobe is laughable. Why is this man, who has scored 10 goals in his 5 year career even being called up for an England squad? Don't know who is more useless, him or Southgate for selecting him in the first place.
