Yeah, creative thread title innnit! Or is it the Flitcroft deby? Dunno.

Bury have got some much needed form at just the right time, winning their last 2 at home. Not looked all that convincing mind, they were 2-0 down at the weekend before Col U had a man sent off and totally collapsed. Another 3 points here would put them within touching distance of safety though.

As for Barnsley, 8 wins in their last 9 in the league. They are now within reach of the play off spots. Big game for them tonight, a win puts them 8th and just 4 points off Coventry. A draw wouldn't be a disaster, but a defeat might kill their play off hopes.

So interesting game for both teams. As an aside, mad to think that these 2 clubs, who've both been in tiers 2-4 of the league for the last 30 odd years, have only played each other 5 times since 1980.

Form:
Bury: WDLLWW
Barnsley: WWWWLW

Good intro.

Need at least 4 points from tonight and on Saturday (against your good selves) if we're serious about top 6, which would be unbelievable given how we were before Christmas. Won without any trouble vs Bury a couple of weeks back at Oakwell but it'll be tougher tonight, they had a thumping win on Saturday and I doubt they'll be as poor as they were at Oakwell.

My first ever trip to Gigg Lane, 3 points would be nice. As would a decent pie.

I'd be happy with a draw and a good performance.

Should have buried our chances at the start and cruised from there on in but we didn't and it descended into a poor, scrappy, albeit hard fought game. Bury created next to nothing like at Oakwell, but then neither did we after the first 15 minutes bar one Winnall header that was tipped away.

Not seen the red card back but the ref was quick to get his red out of his pocket, as well as ruining the flow of the game by blowing for a foul every time someone (mainly Bury players it has to be said) went down at the hint of contact.

Suppose I shouldn't be too disappointed with a point and clean sheet following the red card but it feels like an opportunity missed. Can't win them all. Good luck for the season Shakers.
