A few months ago a post was made along these lines, politely asking that the use of personal Social Media pictures against the will of said person is not allowed on 1FF. Since then there has been a quite a few instances involving what some would consider to be 'sensitive information' culminating this week, in 3 seperate incidents whereby images were taken from a members social media, people were stalked on various forms of Social Media and in one incident, somebody found another members mobile number and started ringing/harassing them at strange hours of the night.

As a result, 2 members have been banned.

Now before anyone accuses 1FF of things being too formal, or too harsh. I/We totally understand that most of the time it's harmless banter, a laugh, a joke, everything's taken too seriously etc - the posting of GIF's really doesn't bother me at all, afterall if you don't want to be found on the internet, why have social media?

However, you have to understand that not everyone goes by the standards/thought process and in all of this, we just want to ensure that 1FF is painted in the best light and is as enjoyable as it can be for ALL members.

As of this evening;

*No sharing of ANY personal information on the website (names, mobile numbers, IP addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, locations) anywhere on the website, other than via PM should a member consent in sharing this information.

*ANY GIF/image/picture or link to ANY Members private information/social media will result in a non-warned complete permanent ban from the website and an IP block/deleted account, to ensure that any return will be from scratch and require a new IP address.

*Any 'perceived' cyber bullying or racial/homophobic/ableist discrimination made towards ANY member, will also result in the above.

Unfortunately, 1 member felt strongly enough about the above issues and safety of their social media/identity, to inform the Police of a situation that they obviously felt strongly enough about. For these reasons and these reasons alone, there will be a no-tolerance towards any of the above, to ensure that this is made crystal clear, there will be a site wide PM sent to every member on 1FF.

Sorry if this seems harsh/over the top, however, as admin we have the websites best interests in mind.

Thanks.
Admin.

Completely agree apart from the 'not sharing your name' part. I think my username kind of gives that away anyway for one. People can choose to stay anonymous (for example there are users on here who I only know by their psuedonym anyway). But I don't see the harm if people want to share their name with others. Other personal details though should be kept private on a public forum.

Sorry if I didn't make that very clear, it's only if it's against the consent of said user and it's their entire name, rather than just a first name for example, people know I'm Chris and you are Lee, Mark is mark etc. Blasting out a full name in the shoutbox is a little bit different, especially if it's someone that would prefer to stay anonymous bar a username on a forum.

Hopefully that clears that up.

Can totally get on board with all of the above, but some of those rules do seem quite odd when we are encouraged to link a Twitter profile to our accounts. If people were to then find something on those profiles, and link / use / include that content on here, is there really anything wrong with that? By linking in a social media profile to your profile on this forum, you are inviting people to go and explore that social media profile. There is literally no other reason to do it...?

Anyway, I come on here to talk about football, I've never been on anyone's Twitter here, and really have no interest in doing so. Just find some of the complaining some people do when people do go on their Twitter incredibly tedious, what did you think would happen when you linked your accounts in the first place?

Oh well. I'm guessing there are no surprises as to who it was who contacted the police anyway...

This is perfectly reasonable, but isn't it under a user's control whether any of their personal information is publicly available?

I'm totally on board with the notion that if you link your profile you are kind of asking for it, I think the issue lies more with people who haven't linked a profile in and are still suffering the same issue. I also think there's a fine line between adding a link to your Twitter, where people can follow you and exchange tweets etc away from the site, but it's a totally different thing to find a gif/old personal picture and then actively use/abuse it on a Football Forum where people can get on board taking the piss and I think this is the issue that some people have.

Personally, I've got my profile linked in, do as you please, I'm kind of asking for it, but some won't tolerate/think like that and we have to cater to everyone as best we can.

Hope you can understand that.

No Saddler, it's not harsh or over the top at all. Some forum members go too far and they seriously need to grow up and understand that not everyone is happy seeing their personal info splattered all over the shoutbox.

Personally, it's no big deal to me but can perfectly understand why for some guys it's simply not acceptable.

Totally do man, and totally behind your messages and actions on the matter, just find the whole biccering and complaining a lot of members do quite frustrating sometimes.

You guys do a great job of modding the site, something that goes unnoticed more than it should.

I couldn't even attempt to guess the 3 people banned, very mysterious.*

*this isn't meant in the way that people have been banned irrationally, I just have no idea who it is [emoji38]
